The edge.
Season long loan from the spammers.
Notts forest have also offered to take him.
Wants a move back up north.

Not a bad shout IMO this.
Strong lad and hard worker
Needs to improve under decent coaches as not yet up to Prem standard.
Potentially within our price range.

Wouldn't like to loan him then he becomes and ace and goes back to sham to have a glorious career there. Fuck em

Reports are that Spam paid £9 million for him,Port Vale got a £1.9m sell on fee.

I ask you, Blades of the Rumour Mill, what's the maximum loan fee we should pay for someone like Hugill?

Because we'd inevitably have to pay one for a player like this, and even many younger players.

I wouldn't want to go above £1m. But it's a key position that's hard to recruit for, and if you know what you're getting with someone arguably it's worth it. Would it be better to spend £4m on someone permanently with no more performance guarantees?

Given that you'd expect the main striker signing to account for a large section of the budget, spending 'only' £1m on a loan fee could actually enable you to spread the budget further.

What about the 'black pacey' criteria? Have we suddenly abandoned our principals because our budget has swollen? ;)

Fortunately we have a manager who, although not faultless, is a good judge of a player, and now that we have a more flexible purse with which to dip into, we can now consider the type of player that we've been unable to bring to the Blades. Given the importance of this season (yes, I know, every season's important!) there'll not be a more focused person that Mr C. Wilder, so potentially good times ahead.

1.5m for a season long loan.
He's managed 12 goals in the championship once but that's about as good as his CV gets.

Really? I'e never considered Hugil more than very a average....Darius Henderson type player....I pissed my pants when I saw how much Wet Spam paid for him.

Don’t get me wrong the price tag was way too much for him. But we want better than Billy? He scored the same amount as goals as Billy and is a target man.

We aren’t in the markets for players like Vydra etc so I believe someone like this would be a great option for us.

What sort of Striker is he? Doesn’t seem to score many goals

Its only a video but just from these clips he looks like he has some pace, can take a man on/drive with the ball and he's also good in the air. I know videos can be deceptive but he must have cost 8 million for a reason last season.

Wouldn’t be over excited by this arrival, works hard and a strong player but his touch is average at best.

Scores headers by the looks, with how many crosses we get in* that would be huge.

Ours tend to be low, or even pull backs but that's mainly due to not having a a striker who's prolific in the air.

I agree he's not technically above average but he is a real handful and will score goals at this level with his work-rate, desire, strength and his abilities as I said before. I think he's be a decent signing on loan and see how it goes.

I know he's not prolific but he scored 1 in 3 this season for PNE and they're nothing special. I reckon he could get 20 in our team in a full season and ultimately we need strong competition for Leon and Billy and I don't see any better than Hugill that we could get.

I'd be confident of him scoring 15-20 in our team. He was on course for 15+ with Preston last season.

He's good in the air and hardworking but also mobile which is probably why he cost the daft fee West Ham paid.

If we could get him in it would open up a lot of potentially good strike partnerships - there are far more to choose from who aren't target men who we could sign. Hugill and Sam Baldock or Adam Armstrong for example would be good. Or maybe Hugill and Conor Washington to run defences into the ground, which I quite like the idea of.

I suppose 10 goals IS on the way to 15 but that's an odd way of describing it when you're 5 off.
Only 8 in the league too.

He would be a fantastic signing but it all depends on whether we can afford his wages. I should imagine he will be on a nice deal at West Ham.

If we can get him in on loan with an option to sign at the end, then we should do it. Would be a terrific signing for us in our financial position.

Connor Washington or Sam Baldock would also be worth a sniff at.

But can you say the same for Rhodes!??
