If the dispute goes to a court case. Presumably in the High Court there would be a chance to sit in the gallery and watch proceedings.

We should send a representative down to take it all in and provide daily reports.

Which forum member would be best suited for this assignment?

HH
High Court? No one's been murdered (yet). Isn't this more a tribunal type court case?

HB - I think there is a commercial division or session? for business type disputes/litigation.

Are you thinking of applying for the assignment?

You have dropped the hint about your feelings for our Belgian cousins on numerous occasions. :D
I'm guessing he was brought in because the Prince wants a voice, and eyes and ears, at the club. I suspect he tried to get involved because that's his background and he couldn't help himself. I understand that, I probably would have too. If the Prince walks he will be gone. If McCabe leaves, we will have to see.
ah .. so he's a spy..
i can only go on my experience of working at large corporate multinationals over the years ;). as it happens, i'm not a big fan of the Italians either .. but at least they don't smile whilst stabbing you in the back and aren't half as arrogant.. other than that i like everybody.. well apart from the S6 lot obviously :D

To my mind, the fans had the chance to make a statement to the board by pledging our loyalty to CW, and through letters as well, but seeing as you and I were the only ones to take it upon ourselves to make a statement, it seem to get bogged down by others not really having the interest, caring about United or even in extreme cases, sharking the notion of doing so.
I would’ve thought two thousand travelling fans chanting ‘we want you to stay’ would resonate with HRH? He will DEFINITELY have been told about it.

Come on, only the Beligians and Italians? Time to come clean...

It already looks like a closed shop down at the lane if the Prince wanted to add someone to the Technical committee and it was blocked.

94 posts about an article that is pure speculation and lacks any credibility. Hot weather must be affecting a few at the moment.
ha ha. it's four degrees up here in the Scottish Highlands . lagging it down. nowt to do. why do you think i'm on here? our lass says it's 25 our end.. swoons. :)

that or CW and AK simply didn't want his help. i've seen this in my professional life. never happened to me but the grown ups get their man in who undermines someone who is doing ok and they end up leaving.. happens all the time as i'm sure some of you will know ;)
edit: 'get their man in' .. who is normally fucking useless and it all goes to shit when the really good guy leaves turns out he/she was keeping the whole operation afloat singlehandedly. why do they do this?? another thread .. sorry :D

Jan Van Winckel is a Belgian football coach, director of the Belgian Professional Football Coaches and current technical director of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
Van Winckel holds a UEFA Pro-license and graduated with a Master of Physical Education and a Master in Business Economics from the University of Leuven. He remains faculty of the Movement Control & Neuroplasticity Research Group. [1]
In 2006, he co-founded TopSportsLab, a spin-off that develops sports science innovations. [2]
Before signing as technical director of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in 2015, Van Winckel was the assistant of Marcelo Bielsa [3] at Olympique de Marseille.

Seems to be more about Sport Science, coaching and development than football management.

Doesn't say a lot for the Princes power though does it?

I don't take anything too seriously, was just trying to answer your question re technical director.
I only try to deal with facts and a bit of reason, rather than panic over stuff that may or may not ever happen ;)

Power? is that what this is all about? interesting points you are making.. now we're getting somewhere i think?

Well when you look at it from that point of view.......Prince wants person on technical board......McCabe blocks / or Wilder blocks.........that can be seen as the Prince having little power to impose his wishes within the club, it could also be seen as wilder siding with McCabe.
From what McCabe said at the shareholders meeting, the Prince was looking at expanding our scouting network into Europe and McCabe said no, it's not our way, we are British / Irish centric only......again, the Prince not getting his wishes......this may well have led to the start of the dispute between them.

Chris Wilder is being stupid. It seems (and correct me if I'm wrong) like it's all over his backing in the transfer market, which personally I believe as a Blades fan, if I was manager I would try and make it work with whatever I had until I was shown the door.

For me Wilder has crossed a line, and honestly I think this is the peak of his career, he's a championship/league one manger who doesn't have the tactical know how to be another Neil Warnock or better and make it to the Premier league.

Think that's harsh on his managerial ability.
It's his first season at championship level, so is bound to make the odd mistake here and there, but he will learn and improve from the experience like the players will, I don't think he's anywhere near his peak yet.

i thought you said you only dealt with facts and a bit of reason? ;).. now you are the one who is speculating.. seriously thought.. ultimately and with the greatest respect to HRH, Kev knows more about running a football club

Ha ha, but speculating with a bit of reason.

Okay, perhaps I should have worded the question: is a fan a customer of a business (as in a consumer of the product a business sells)?

To answer your question, though...

Firstly, I don't think fans are treated particularly well throughout the sport. I really don't want to start reeling off the trite cliches about super rich individuals using clubs as their playthings, obscene transfer-fees rising in tandem with ticket prices for the people who actually watch the sport etc. I do think they're true, though (and have ended up reeling off cliches...).

Football fans (especially those dedicated to 'their' team) put so much into the club, creating bonds and creating a shared culture (this forum, for example). I don't think it's appropriate to call them customers because, in the case of most other business, customers pay their money and get their product. I would say that, in some respects, we are the product. I enjoy watching the blades with blades. Identifying as a blade, etc. If fans are just customers, it's a slipperly slope to them becoming mere consumers of tickets and merchandise. That's my worry, anyway.

I think being a football fan is more about playing a small part in creating/maintaining a sort of phenomena, and then participating in it with other people. I suppose there's an argument that that in itself is what we're buying (as customers), but I don't think that does justice to the role fans play.

It's more simple than that, ljk. I usually drink in the same place and I'm a valued customer, but if they started serving terrible booze or put their prices up significantly I'd take my custom down the road. Football fans don't do that (bar MK and some at Reading). Therefore customers we ain't.

Happened at my workplace regularly and is happening again right now.

Those of us who have worked there years and contributed to helping the company be the best in the industry in our field, can see the fuck up that's going to happen but somehow the directors can't :(

That is not a totally unreasonable comment. In fact nobody knows. But do we really want to start all over again with a new manager just when our current manager has taken a full grasp of the club and knows everybody and everything about all the players and what to do next.

Every new manager/ management team has to familiarise with everything about their new club. We have wasted so many 1st years/ 2nd years over the past decade.

As I've often said I'd live or die with Wilder. Any options are a gamble by nature. Him less so.
