<< CHRIS WILDER has crossed the line and, if he hasn’t gone already, is likely to be shown the door should Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud wrestle full control of Sheffield United.

Shocking to hear but that is the take of a reliable source with a close ear to the Saudi royal’s camp, as told to ViewFromTheJohnStreet.com. Prince Abdullah, apparently, is furious with the Blades manager’s recent outburst in which he suggested he may quit.

United’s co-owner, engaged in a bitter power-struggle with Kevin McCabe, views it as a disguised and strategic attempt to side with the latter, in the knowledge Wilder’s standing at the club will influence public opinion against the man from the Middle East. The aim being to force him to back down and eventually relinquish his interests as other investors wait in the wings. ETC>>

I didn’t really get the feeling that Wilder was siding with McCabe against Prince Abdullah.
But if he is then I’m siding with Wilder

Must admit, I'm puzzled Sothall, Eric Cartman has told me that the Prince thinks the world of Wilder and that they're almost like brothers. Surely such a tried and tested poster can't be wrong.....or can he?

Of all the shit that’s been typed on this matter, my suspicion would be that this gets close to “nail on head” as far as the real issue of moving the club forwards is concerned.

The appointment of the DOF whatevershisname would have been the catalyst in all of this. Wilder would not have been “Appeh” !

UTB

my god if any of this true because who knows all is rumours but, this is paranoia central, why does the prince think the knives are out for him & only him. if he had listen to the interview with a clear head & also even looked on this forum. (highly unlikely I know). but he would find out that no one is sided with either person. we would be just as angry with McCabe as the Prince because they both in charge & would both be accountable for letting a great manager go. ok I agree that no person is bigger than the club. because the club will always carry on. but he is very close to it because with these players to what he did this season is short of a miracle. because I remember 442 had us 18th. I was extremely optimistic & had us 14th

if he goes it is likely we will be back to fighting relegation

Must be something in this. Not just a "source" but a "reliable" one. The best kind.

And it's upgraded to a "bitter" power struggle now.

Usual doom and gloom from the View.

He did do a long interview with Jim Phipps last season.
So may have better sources than most of us?

I agree about the doom and gloom on that site in general but this is a very gloomy situation.

Jim Phipps hasn't acted for HRH for a long time.

I’m aware of that but it doesn’t mean they don’t still talk to each other.
It doesn’t have to have been Jim anyway.
My point was that the author does have contacts that I for one don’t have.

If true, and the Prince wanted this out in the open, l wouldn't have thought someone's relatively little known blog would be the way to do it.

It suggests that Wilder won't be there under the Prince, which isn't really going to enamour him to a large part of the fan base.

I agree.
So do you think John Osborne simply invented this source and his quote?
For what reason?

Maybe it’s a way of warning Wilder to wind his neck in without doing it directly or via the mainstream media?

Who knows? I still don’t understand why they can’t just pick up the phone and talk to each other!?

If Van Winckle gets the job he will be coming in with even worse ill feeling towards him from than fans than Danny Wilson had.

If Van Winckle does come in, and this is all wild speculation, of course, then it’d be quite troubling.

The prince doesn’t own the club, it belongs to the fans. Before a business it’s a football club - an idea that we invest a large proportion of our income and time into. It all boils down to human beings, not business. It is not his to change. He’s a facilitator, not an instigator. If he isn’t happy with that, he shouldn’t be involved with us or any other football club.

If he thinks he truly owns Sheffield United because he bought it (or will buy it), he’s wrong. If he finds himself ubiquitously unwanted by the fan base, it would show a lack of integrity not to sell up and move on.

This is all completely hypothetical, but I have found something a little distasteful about the way he’s conducted himself (in regards to the club) since arriving.

Edit - phone went mad. Is it possible to delete this post?

I suspect what has actually happened is that McCabe has dropped a bollock with the original deal for the Prince to take over and there isn’t an actual obligation for the Prince to buy the ground/hotel/academy etc in order to take full ownership.

It now appears that McCabe doesn’t want Princey to take over and is trying owt to stop this happening.

Despite perhaps having a certain position when this all began (before it became public) I'd suggest that other than a bit of a preference... He no longer has a 'side' as such.

I agree.

You seem, for some odd reason, to have taken my comments personally. The cynicism is aimed at JO. You simply posted it.

As I said, not the way to get my opinion about Wilder out in the open ifI was the Prince.

VFJS less than a week ago. Clearly the assurances aren't going to come from one side now that there's "fury" in the air.

CHRIS WILDER will quit his beloved Sheffield United, possibly as early as next week, if he doesn’t receive assurances from the club’s co-owners

Phipps is not exactly the most reticent, tight-lipped of chaps. I'm pretty sure if you e-mailed him to ask if he could be interviewed for your blog he'd say yes. It doesn't show that the bloke has any sort of insider knowledge or contacts at all.

I agree.

Because he wants people to read his blog.

Who knows? I still don’t understand why they can’t just pick up the phone and talk to each other!?

They can, which is part of the reason this is a non-story. Once again, people are getting wound up by thin air.

the most interesting things about that article are the quotes from all interested parties

Nope I’ve not taken it personally.
Just struggling to understand why the bloke would invent a source and a quote.

Incorrect on almost every point.

I can’t remember another club who has finished the highest they have in years, had a decent season etc to be signing off with such negativity. The blades way yet again.

The sooner we are shut of our owners the better.

We revel in it though don’t we? We’re our own worst enemy and our specialist skill is meltdown. There’s a new thread on here every five minutes! Only in S2!

Phipps of the past yes, but it’s been really noticeable that anyone with any links to the Prince has been quiet on the issue on social media.
