Here’s where I’m at.

A) I fricking love Sir Chris.
B) the last 2 years have been some of the best times I’ve seen a BDTBL and I can only thank Chris and everyone of his team the squad etc.

HOWEVER.... Should Wilder leave I won’t be giving him the standing ovation some of you clearly will be giving him when he returns with another club.

The whole ‘I wouldn’t blame him if he left’ crap is starting to do my head in (don’t take this as I can’t see ‘why’ he would leave - I can). But regardless of that I will be very disappointed in him if he does.

Leaving because of the budget would not be the noble, proving a point reason it’s made out to be, it would be purely for selfish reasons (which I can understand) but would very much bitter all the ‘it’s my club’, ‘we’re going places’, ‘there’s a connection’ stuff that’s been trotted out over the last 24months.

Flipping this on its head... My (potentially naive) view and hope is that this is his way of forcing their hand and ensuring he’s got the budget he thinks he needs.

To be fair ‘If’ it all works out I think all this might will leave us in a much better position a lot quicker (boardroom sorted, budget etc).

So basically I’m not going to worry about it as a) I don’t think he’s going anywhere. And b) if he did he’s not the dude I thought he was.

What about if he goes because he has 2 owners to answer to, who can't agree what to tell him? He would be doing the long-term prospects for the club no favours by playing along with that scenario.

And how would leaving solve this? He leaves it’s for no other reason than he believes it’s beneficial for his career (as I say which I can totally respect)... but people need to stop making out it would be because he’s making some sort of grand gesture etc etc.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

If he left and came back with Sunderland the season after next I will applaud him and then hope we beat Sunderland just as I hope we beat every team we play against regardless of manager.

I fear that without CW and no firm investment we will be passing each other by the end of next season going in opposite directions.

Think you've answered your own post OP. Avoid all speculation, no point doing your head in about something that's still at the 'unknown' stage.

Wilder's far from stupid, so let's wait until more information's available. So far all I've seen is a generally hysterical reaction that helps no one. Like yourself I hope Wilder remains as our manager, but he's just one part of a complex issue so let's wait....and wait.....you or I can't bring this to a head, only the owner's choices will impact on what Wilder decides.

P.S. No I’ve tried to make it clear that I could see why he might move given millions to spend. My point is that him moving for budget would contradict a hell of a lot of what’s been said previously.

None of us know what's happening behind the scenes. Whatever it is, is it enough to push CW out? There is no doubt in my mind he loves the club, he's one of us. But in football, as in life, love is never unconditional (unless you are a Dog). If someone takes the piss, eventually you will bail. If the club are taking the piss, CW will bail, if not now then eventually.

Absolutely your choice what you would do if he came back with someone else. But I'd applaud him as thanks for getting us out of that fucking Godforsaken division below. A place we may well end up going back to if certain people don't get their shit in one pile soon.

In in such a scenario, staying would paper over the crisis, but not solve it; leaving would bring the crisis to a head more quickly, and could be a way of improving the club's long-term interests. All hypothetical, of course...
