Wilder to Sunderland?

According to jim white he has spoke to the eastleigh guy today and ( although he wouldn't confirm it )wilder is top of his list

To be honest I don’t buy the idea of clearing of 100 million of debt, it’s like saying United are debt free.
We are now in debt to McCabe and he holds all United assets and unfortunately for us fans there’s fook all we can do about it. It will be the same for Sunderland the debt will have just have been transfered in one way or another .

I suppose it’s not a good idea to publically declare someone as number 1 target, just in case they refuse.
Then whoever they appoint will know they were 2nd or 3rd choice.
Let’s just say Wilder is one of the top contenders for the job at Sunderland.
Not done any research but they suggested he was Chairman or something at Oxford and appear to be friends.
 
This is not going to happen.

Christ can bide his time for far better offers.

We are finishing 10th in the division above which Sunderland will be playing.

Let's just go and appoint Benitez, Hodgson on Howe as Wilder's replacement eh?

I wouldn't be shocked if Wilder walked but I would be pissed off if he did. The fact he would have done a runner at the first sign of unrest and the 100% Blade, "One of our own" bolts would leave a sour taste in my mouth. Whether the boardroom unrest is sorted or not, if Wilder stays and he managed to push us on or get another mid-table finish with little in the way of "game changing investment" he would be in the same league as Bassett with the great manager tag.

I believe the Ex-owner has written off the debt which was owed to him.

These are my thoughts exactly. I would be mightily pissed off if Wilder left at the first sign of things becoming a little bit more difficult.

They've done it because they're all about the image of being "back where they were". All well and good until you get your arse handed to you every time you play your most hated rival.

Sunderland have spent much more time in the top flight recently than our two, have a cracking stadium, get big crowds, and are now debt-free.

The last twenty years or so have been a disaster for this city football-wise.

Point taken, but the last two or three years for Sunderland haven't exactly been a Kelly Brook Foam Party either.

Quite. I was surprised at his interjection before the season was over. With this and the antics at the POTY awards, I admire those traveling to the West Country at the weekend.

But I have faith in the manager and am convinced he was just talking from the heart in the candid nature he has.
 
Bookies have him now as odds on to become Sunderand manager . McCarthy 2/1 still .Board have to move quick with at least 15 million from back of sofa or somewhere. He will go if Sunderland give him 10 mill for next season and 20 more to get em out of champs.
 

Michael Grey was saying on Talk Sport yesterday that the takeover deal was a long way off from being complete.
 
He won't be going, it just means that he's going to get a payrise.
 
Well managers come and go but if Chris and Alan leave it will devastate the supporters and players. If this situation doesn't shake our owners up then I'm afraid nothing will and we will just go down hill again and I don't think the majority of fans could go through that again .
 
No chance is Wilder going back into League One, at least not with Sunderland...
 
I refuse to believe that all is suddenly hunky dory at Sunderland now they've been taken over and that they're now some great opportunity in English football.

Besides the fact that all new owners are 'ambitious' and come with 'big investment' (plenty of times to no avail), don't they have a lot of average players on high-money contracts to sort out? That can't be an easy web to untangle.

If Wilder was to go up there, to me it'd be an indication of how bad things are here rather than how great things are going to be at Sunderland.
