he did say that the guy wouldn't confirm thatJust been confirmed on Talksport radio.
They’ve spoken to the probable incoming owner of Sunderland.
He spoke to Jim White at Talksport this morning and confirmed
1: The deal to take over Sunderland is almost done.
2: His number 1 manager target will be Chris Wilder, apparently they worked together at Oxford, so know each other well.
3: He’s hoping Sunderland return to the Championship at the 1st attempt, then he said once in the Championship they have ambitious plans.
They cleared £100million in debt and rumours are they have oil money. I cannot see it an issue with CW having (I guess 13 months contract) they could pay that off with pocket change.

amen !Christ can bide his time for far better offers.
To be honest I don’t buy the idea of clearing of 100 million of debt, it’s like saying United are debt free.
We are now in debt to McCabe and he holds all United assets and unfortunately for us fans there’s fook all we can do about it. It will be the same for Sunderland the debt will have just have been transfered in one way or another .

I wouldn't be shocked if Wilder walked but I would be pissed off if he did. The fact he would have done a runner at the first sign of unrest and the 100% Blade, "One of our own" bolts would leave a sour taste in my mouth. Whether the boardroom unrest is sorted or not, if Wilder stays and he managed to push us on or get another mid-table finish with little in the way of "game changing investment" he would be in the same league as Bassett with the great manager tag.
I wouldn't appoint him either if I were Rangers. Let someone like Killie take the risk but often these ex big players consider the Championship the lower leagues, let alone Leagues one and two. That's why Wilder serving his apprenticeship at Alfreton and Halifax is invaluable. He was prepared to go into the muck and nettles of it and fair play to him.
I still don't believe he'll leave, but if he did it probably wouldn't shock the rest of the football world as it would us here in Sheffield.
Wednesday haven't played in the top flight since the millennium, and the Blades have had one season in the top flight since 1994.
Sunderland have spent much more time in the top flight recently than our two, have a cracking stadium, get big crowds, and are now debt-free.
The last twenty years or so have been a disaster for this city football-wise.

Dunno ,have a lookHas he gone yet?
Dunno ,have a look
Good thinking! I've had a look and it seems the takeover at Sunderland does not appear to have been confirmed as a done deal yet.
It seems it's all quiet on the North Eastern Front.
Bookies have him now as odds on to become Sunderand manager . McCarthy 2/1 still .Board have to move quick with at least 15 million from back of sofa or somewhere. He will go if Sunderland give him 10 mill for next season and 20 more to get em out of champs.
Appleton favourite according to Sky Bet and Bet Victor
