After tough negotiations with Foxy, I'm staying on for another year. No increase though.

Despite threats of retirement, The Crab decides to hang around for a bit longer.

With no immediate rebuild of the kop it was thought vorpal blade would be released, but Foxy wants an extension to the Rumour Mill, so another is retained.

Keep logging on for more updates!
That’s it then, I’m putting in for a transfer. I’m not mixing with you lot. It’s the South Stand for me

Is it? He signed a two year deal up to 2018 and thought he’d got a 1 year extension

It was announced when the list came out last year that the number of appearances he’d made activated a year extension. That suggested to me that the original “two-year deal” was actually a “one-year with year option” deal.

Wonder if they’ve got anybody worth nicking that we could do a part exchange/swap for? Haven't followed them so dont know TBH, but might be a good solution for everyone.

Shopping in league 1 again. That’s the way forward!!

As long as ALL our recruitment isnt from down there, I really dont see a problem with cherry picking the odd low-risk youngster. Why would we not?

Point I made with Long was that if we were binning him off anyway, we might use him as leverage to put us in pole position should Wimbledon have anyone we fancied. If not, we dont bother- I’m not familiar enough with them to know if they have any highly rated youngsters worth having, but if they do and there are a few in for them, Long might be a handy bargaining chip.

Why would it be a problem if all of our recruitment was from League 1? If we signed 11 players like John Fleck (different positions, obviously) from League 1 (like we did with Fleck) then would anybody be complaining?

Personally I couldn't care less which league they're from as long as they're good enough to improve our team. I've made the point before that we could have had Jamie Vardy from non-league and many on here would have complained at the time.

He would have been judged 'crap' because he didn't cost enough.

Obviously Madine, Rhodes and Assombalonga are miles better as they cost more.

Wouldn't harm splashing out on a 5mil striker though, could be the difference between 9th and the playoffs

Yes, £5m would get you two of Madine's legs, one arm and the lump he uses for headbutting.

It would improve our team no end and also certainly guarantee promotion then Champions League qualification.

Or how about we 'splash out' on a striker who actually will be the difference regardless of what he cost, instead of someone who could be the difference because he's comes with a large price tag. We could have splashed out on £8m Jordan Rhodes, he won't have been the difference.

I agree in general- my whole post was pointing out we SHOULD still be looking down there.

For me, I think we need something extra in the final 3rd; some real quality to push us on from deserving to win certain games, to actually winning them- the difference between finishing top 10 or top 6. Thats whats let us down this year; the split second hesitations in the box- the wrong decision with the final pass.

If we could get that from League One (or below), then great- of course we should still be looking there. But I dont think we’ll find much of that type of quality there. Youngsters with potential, maybe, but not the finished article who can step up and make that difference straight away. I take your point regarding Rhodes, etc, being expensive flops, but they're the bad examples- we know Wilder and Knill do their homework and wont sign characters like that. There comes a time when you get what you pay for. Chris Wilder knows that and I’m sure that's where some of his frustrations are routed- we’re not far off. We just need a bit “extra” in an area that unfortunately is the most expensive to invest in.

I think he would have been.

Can't believe we gave Hanson 2 and a half years. Fuck me....

Rhodes? Maybe, I think he would have done better here then with Wednesday, but I was referring to his form this season

I reckon he’d be pushing 20 goals in this United team this season

Very rare to see anything less really unless there are extenuating circumstances. Players prefer a bit of security

Don't think we have many out of contract. Lavery maybe? James Wilson (CB, not the Man U one)? Long? Reed? Think the likes of Lafferty, Ched, Carruthers, Thomas, Hanson etc. all have another year or 2 left. Think all of the first teamers are still under contract. Loans of Wilson and Blackman will come to an end with them returning to their parent clubs. I hope we can do a deal to bring Blackman back.
Lavery isnt out of contract this year. Wilson (defender) is a Lincoln City player.

The depressing realisation that we've not been very clever in regards to handing out excessive contracts in terms of length. Deja vu.
