Wilder on the boardroom struggle

But no one has the answers. That's the point. No ones even claimed to be itk.

I'm saying from my original post is that I'd like to hear Radio Sheffield ask Wilder the questions on his budget as opposed to just focusing on how he feels about the ownership situation. These are questions that you and I can't ask to Wilder but Radio Sheffield can and knowing Wilder as we do, he'll tell it as it is.

I can't see how he can have a budget with things as they are. Even if he was given an approximate figure before it all kicked off in the boardroom that's got to be out of the window.

Personally I doubt he'd talk figures anyway. Plus Giddings has rebuilt the relationship with the club and RS aren't going to rock that boat again soon.

I'm not disagreeing with anything Wilder said in the interview I am just puzzled why he has had to go public with his thoughts. Couldn't he have just said the same to the owners behind closed doors in private ? Will his mate be the next one to start mouthing off? The owners may well already be pissed off that CW's mate forced them to go public on the buyout. Has Wilder's relationship with the owners already become so strained they no longer speak to each other much? The boardroom fighting is damaging the club but has Wilder just thrown a gallon of 4* onto the fire.

My guess is that Wilder has gone public as he is very pissed off and is letting off steam and wants everyone to know that he is very pissed off, probably in the hope that it will put pressure on the board to sort this out between them. Yes it does make us fans insecure over his future but I'd rather know than not know how he feels.

Its the only hope I have to know where we stand on the budget and his transfer plans, I'm not planning to go for a beer later with Chris sadly!

The bigger question is obviously when is this going to be sorted out but we aren't going to hear from the board right now and there probably wouldn't be any answers even if we did, other than its a complicated process etc etc.

You're right there almost certainly won't be a decent budget as it is.

There’s a few mutterings on Facebook regards what McCabe has said at the players awards evening (last night was it?? Apparently Ched was a cunt in the nursery tavern as well as a couple players shoving each other about and Billy giving them a word). McCabe “says” (and I use inverted commas because we all know what he says and means are 2 different things) that his mrs wants him to retire and he will when we’re in the premiership (he’ll be leaving lengthways then).

He and Wilder didn’t speak all night (to each other obviously).

The boardroom thing will be sorted because ‘nobody is bigger than the club.’

Like I said, they’re just mutterings in Facebook from people who were there.

if the above is true the most important bit I'll take from that is when he says he'll retire when we're in the PL which you would think he wouldn't say if he was going to lose ownership of the club. Maybe that's me just being an optimist or reading more into it I don't know!

Funny that Wilder is rumoured for the Sunderland job right after that interview.....

People are lumping money on it based on Wilder`s post match comments.

Has he had a inkling what`s going at Sunderland?
If he ends up there, I think so, he knows the new chairman from Oxford Utd, so he might well have had the word.

Or it might just be coincidence!

The link from Stuart Donald does worry me, although I don't know the relationship between Stewart Donald and Wilder? He never owned Oxford I don't think but presumably was at the club when Wilder was there. I would guess Sunderland would love Wilder but I can't see him going there but the rumours are worrying nevertheless.

We know Chris likes to do his business early, Sunderland have cleared the decks, manager and moneywise

They are ready for their new guy

When Chris left Northampton for us, they played their last game on the 7th of May

He was with us on the 12th of May

If it is gonna happen, it will happen quickly

I agree. I just hope the Sunderland link might actually be a good thing and make McCabe and the Prince sort this out quicker, if possible.

if you were the sunderland owner and thought 'i need a manager who can pick a shambles of a club off it's arse to romp league one from nothing with 100 points' who would you fucking pick?? ;)

Sunderland Echo .. why Wilder should be Sunderland next manager .I reckon he is going at least they can back him financially so he can achieve his amition

When we played Eastleigh pre season I asked how the friendly was arranged with no obvious link.

`Our chairman knows your manager` was the reply, from a suit I was blagging a teamsheet off.

So if he thinks that the way to make money is sell the BL site, totally rebrand the club and play at a new stadium by the M1 you'd be happy with that?

He'd lose money by moving to a new stadium

Cheers Treeton. The fact they we as fans are worried about an approach from a shambles of a club, albeit with new investment and a guy who knows Wilder, says where we're at, at the minute. Its beyond belief; we should be reflecting on what's being a great season but instead the ownership situation rumbles on and now the managers future.

It's just another stick to beat new owners with before they've even bought the club.

Nope, it's a valid point. As has been demonstrated at many other clubs, owners can do what they like, often against the wishes of most fans - and that includes moving to a new stadium. It wouldn't make sense right now, but it might if we got promoted to the PL. The argument could be made that if we "want to compete with the very best" we need a 50k stadium, and Bramall Lane simply doesn't have the capacity for parking, etc - plus land by the M1 is far cheaper. All those clamoring for McCabe to sell out to the first investor with enough dosh should bear this in mind. How valuable is it to have someone in charge who understands our heritage and culture?

How much do you think it would cost to build a new stadium?

The five bedroom detached with pool estate to be built on BL will more than cover it. People can't sell their Houses in Dore quick enough so they don't miss out on the chance to reside near a Premier Off Licence.

Your argument was about the Prince just using us to make money and moving us to a new stadium was the way in which you suggested he would do this. It had nothing to do with us being competitive in the PL.

The assets overall are valued in the accounts somewhere between £20-£25m. Without a split, let's for arguments sake say BL is worth £20m. Do you think the land is worth that amount, before demolition and clearance costs etc, to a developer, before they lay a brick.

Don't want him to leave obviously, but if he does then so be it, no manager or player is bigger than the club. Been through plenty of managers and there will be plenty more in the future.

I'm not suggesting that selling the BL site would pay for a new stadium. I'm saying that if we get promoted to the PL and manage to stay there for a couple of years, a new "ambitious" (and almost certainly foreign) owner would want to look at increasing our branding, global appeal, crowds, merchandiising etc. He may look at the issues with the current stadium and decide that it would be more desirable to sell the BL land and build a new stadium from scratch on the outskirts of the city, near the motorway where land is cheaper. He'd start wooing the fans with a PR campaign, claiming that we can't "move on to the next level" at our current site. No doubt some younger, affluent fans would support such an idea but the club would be dead to me if that ever happened.

I'm just trying to make the argument that we shouldn't sell to the first investor with money, regardless of whether some of our younger, more impatient fans think that McCabe's "time is up". I'd rather McCabe stayed in charge than some loaded Russian or Malaysian with no appreciation of our 130 year history and fantastic fan / club culture took over.

Dont forget the BP Garage with ensuite Subway .........

A mate of mine has sold his gaff on Newfield Lane and is renting the living quarters above the Cricks for that very reason. He's reserved the BL/JS corner plot overlooking that factory.

Did Wilder arrive at the Lane because of him or in spite of him?
He needs to sort the situation fast but let’s realise that despite his obvious mistakes he is responsible for some good things for the club. Surely you can see that?

He arrived because of him. As did Clough, Weir, Adams, Adkins... a stopped clock is right twice a day. He’s got lucky. He bemoaned bad luck 2 years ago in a forum. When he gets lucky he messes it up!!

It’s not bad luck it’s bad management.
