The inpact of Coutts article

Peter wasn’t chairman of Club - incorrect
Someone (me) can’t tell the difference between Hillsborough and Bramall Lane - incorrect

He was Chairman in 2001 when they moved to Coach and Horses. Plenty of references if you Google Peter Beeby Sheffield FC Chairman

"

Are they not United fans? What's wrong, exactly? Lazy comment.

Clearly
To be fair the story is about Bramall Lane, therefore a picture of the actual stadium would be the least expected."

Plus those blue seats referred to by itsinyerblood early in the thread seem to be missing in the photo now accompanying the article. If there was nothing wrong with it, as you claimed repeatedly, why change it?

What would have been easily and sensibly dealt with by a respectful and commonsense reply actually resulted in a glib (who said smug?) response suggesting that the inclusion of a stock image of Hillsborough was acceptable, even though the story was meant to be about Bramall Lane. The fact that this was subsequently corrected suggests an admission of lazy journalistic practice.

I see your post #42 and raise you post #51.

And now I realise that 2 negatives do, in fact, make a positive :D

My negative is that I still believe the article is a puff piece for its author, rather than telling us something we haven't already discussed on here a multitude of times.

I feel like Basil Fawlty not mentioning the war regarding Danny's "Blades at Bramall Lane/ Hillsborough" cock up.

You mentioned it once, but i think you got away with it....

What would you expect to see in a picture of Bramall Lane?

"Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically..."

There’s also some great stats on Twitter from Blades Analytics suggesting that United’s number of good chances hasn’t decreased without Coutts. So much has changed without him of course but it’s surprising, or it was to me at least, that the # of chances hasn’t

He rarely created 'assists', played very deep.

He may not have had many assists but he got United going, getting the ball off the CBs and starting attacks from there. Interesting to know that the attacks are simply starting somewhere else instead

Did you ever pass your cuttings onto Sean?

Attacks have to start somwhere but is it critical?

There lies the $64000 question - do we really miss Coutts? On balance I think we do going forward, largely because possession is king and facilitates overloads, even though the opposition have funnelled back. Is that true? I'm not sure it is or not. Put it this way I think we would have missed Duffy or Clarke or Fleck far more if one of them had broken their leg.

As I said above I think we miss Coutts defensively more than anything and that was hard to phathom. These days though our back 3 seems exposed too often.

If I recall you mentioned that you didn't call me a liar. But due to the 'quality' of this response, it's further confirmation that the thing you struggle most with is admitting you're wrong.

You clearly don't pay attention junior hack, so just for you here's the lowdown. I'm disabled, my mobility is currently poor to non-existent. Sean and I have spoken about meeting when I'm able - you see, for myself there's no rush, we'll meet when it happens and not before. At this meeting I'll show Sean evidence of my past commissions. The fact that this still bugs you (it must do, otherwise why would you mention this?) does tend to emphasise your 'dog with a bone' stance. I'll leave it with Sean to confirm, but I shouldn't hold your breath boy wonder, otherwise it might seem that you're pestering an elderly disabled person. Even by your limited standards, that's not something I'd imagine you'd stoop to.

Another good thread spoiled - for what?

Why don't folk stick to the thread topic?

So that’s ‘no’ then? That would have sufficed :)

People playing poster rather than post. As you say it’s a weird one, Coutts was the most important player for the way we play yet I agree in your summation that we’d have missed Fleck, Leon or Duffy more if, god forbid, one of those went down at Burton instead. My gut is that his injury only coincided with a dip in results, rather than directly caused it, but it’s obviously impossible to prove one way or the other. Still, gives us something to talk about and wonder ‘what if...’ I guess!

Then why can't you take your own advice admit you made a mistake? It would have meant that there'd have been no need to advise you to act like a grown up. As for your reply, you're clearly not informed about my health and how this impacts on what I can and cannot do. You now know, so there should be no further need for poor attempts at point scoring by yourself.

Who’s point scoring? o_O

Those arguing about Coutts and chance creation and studying stats and Expected Goals miss one crucial thing Coutts brought to the team: composure.

Indeed in the past month scoring hasnt been an issue - it's been hanging on to leads against other top 8 sides.

In the past month alone we've blown leads against Cardiff, Barnsley, Millwall, Brentford and tried our best to v Middlesbrough.

Not saying we'd have won every game, but with Coutts in the side his leadership and calming influence helps us take the pace out of the game when needed.

That's what we've truly missed.

Excuse me. Have you read this thread?

Fuck me. Are you stalking me?

Jees. I've posted some things in General Chat if you want to pop over there and comment on those too...

Or do you want to lose another argument?

Don't bother. As I said earlier, this is the bloke claiming he's "right" and referencing his op about what a good footballer Coutts is, who later said he'd rather keep Kieran Wallace and let Coutts go.

He's also said this week that it's time to drop Clark for Wilson

Your post took no regard of all that had been said in the thread but just a couple of the later posts.

That's all. Have a read.

As for stalking you, I was on this thread for long enough before you sir.

You. But I'm going to offer a lead that you'd be well advised to follow - no further correspondence about this. It's tiresome and only compounds your failure to learn when it's best to back off.

Think you’ve misunderstood old bean, I’m genuinely interested. I’ve never been friends with a NYT writer before :D

I’ve no reason to doubt it but when someone offers evidence, it piques interest somewhat. Nothing more, nothing less, despite what yer man seems to think :)

Why the snide comment then?
