Neil Warnock biggest fan is Neil Warnock, I’ve also experienced the other side of Warnock and when the cameras aren’t rolling he can be a full weight twat.

Being a good manager doesn’t also equate to being a twat.

I’ve met Dave Bassett a handful of times, and the bloke is an absolute gentleman, time for everyone, and even though the nature of work in being a football manager means you have to be ruthless, I’ve yet to meet anyone who has a bad word to say about him. A class above Warnock as both manager and man.

If we are talking twats, I don’t even think Warnock is in the same league of cuntishness as the full weight thundercunt that is Howard Wilkinson
 

It really would be a treat to see Colin having one last stab at pissing everyone off in the Premier League cartel.

It'll be like when a pensioner gets so old they literally give zero fucks about anything.

Example: Emily Maitlis was guest speaker at my course's graduation. She brought her (I think) grandfather along who was ancient and in a wheelchair. He didn't seem to do much talking, but I loved that every time he was finished eating or drinking he'd just casually drop on the floor whatever cup or plate was in his hand - not slyly either; he just did not give a fuck and I just found myself feeling huge respect and admiration for him as if he had earned it.

Imagine Colin winding up Guardiola...

I say Warnock is a twat, but to be fair to him, my brother met him while my brother was a young kid, and from what my dad says he was brilliant. Sorted him out with posters, signatures, photos etc. Can't really ask for anymore.

I guess he’s a likeable twat. He was our twat and I have a fond regard for the twat! You have to laugh at some of his comments but, as he was born in Frecheville, he’s not just a Yorkshire twat, a Sheffield twat but he’s a Blades twat!

P.s. I just like writing twat. Does that make me a twat?

I would go for "a bit of one"
Never met the man, though I know a few who have, particularly when he was at Argyle, and they did not think too good about him, but not too bad either.
But I did used to know, and sometimes do some work for, a chap who had played for Frecheville alongside his older brother who said Neil was both a very good player (which kinda shows the chasm in talent between "crap" pro and good amateur footballers) but rather full of himsen for no real reason.

Twat. Undoubtedly. But until Wilder came along, he was the best thing to happen to this football club in my supporting life (and anyone else 30 or under for that matter) and as many have said, he is OUR twat. Would love to see him get 34 points with Cardiff in the Premier League next season and be an utter cunt about it.
 

When he was with us some of his antics against the opposition were funny. However if I was the opposing fan I'd think he was a twat.

Right now I like him, but I can almost guarantee, regardless of the result, after Mondays match he'll be a twat. (because deep down he is).

That said the same goes for a lot of footballers, some players would just wind up opposing fans, but if said player was one of yours fans would think it was funny.

e.g. Doyle walk at West Ham, Nihui rally there fans up when "they" beat us 0 -0 to win the champions league at BDTBL.

It's just football, and certain characters.

Y'see, I've met him personally, and he was nothing less than friendly, amenable and generous. There's not many managers of his ilk who would encourage fans to hang out with his players, allow people like me to sit on the bench with them during a match, communicate personally with and even send a Christmas card to. He even pledged to turn out for our ships football team (he had to cancel, as he was off to Birmingham to get rid of Woodhouse and bring Nuddy in). I can't see Tufty doing that (in his defence, for a multitude of reasons) or any other manager people hold up with esteem. He even invited me to BDTBL and backstage afterwards (Musical Blade came with me on one occasion) and we were in touch for some time on and off. Off the field he was a decent feller. What you saw on the touchline - gobbing off, winding up opposition and officials and coming out with outlandish soundbites was simply bluster - there for the purpose of maintaining his reputation and standing (which you'd expect - compare Weir and Adkins for the antithesis of that with regard passion and commitment)

People don't like Warnock because they feel he was in it for himself, but show me a manager we have had where that accusation cannot be - in some part or all - be ranged against. He was, and remains a Sheffield United supporter and only two other managers have got us into the top flight nearly fifty years, neither of whom survived the impending drop into ambiguity and ignominy. Are they twats, too?

Cut Warnock some slack. He did us well. He had some fuck ups, but for a short while, he restored a hell of a lot of pride into this club, something we haven't had until the Gillingham away game last season. And now he looks like he might pull it off for Cardiff City.

It was bad enough when he was our twat. Almost forgivable.Now he is just someone else’s twat. I think football would be less interesting without strong personalities though. I don’t know how he gets his head up his own arse so far with a hooter that size. Gets results any way he can then has periods of time when he is more interested in his own agenda than his teams .

Like Tufty, you've seen Warnock punching the air and interacting with our supporters on days and nights of pure joy both at BDTBL and away. Then there's been the days of pure agony - the failing days of the triple assault season and Wigan at home, where his bitterness, disappointment and bloody mindedness is the single point which people focus on rather than the failings in performance out there on the pitch. He's kissed the badge and saluted the kop, because he meant it - if you want a clinical manager, maybe we should get a staid robot like Wenger who in honesty, considering the hundreds of millions pumped into Arsenal during his many years and the magnitude of global support, has achieved next to fuck all.

And it's telling that all people can also focus on is:

a. The size of his hooter
b. An anagram of his name

to fire into the top of his head. Yep, it took him eight years to get us up into the PL, we got there and our sustenance was built on optimism and hope that our patent lack of quality and strength in depth would keep us there and still people think he was a twat.

That’s not quite the whole picture though
I was and still am a big fan but
When he was our manager some of our football was terrible. (Much much worse than anything I’ve seen under Wilder).
Also when we did perform poorly, he always blamed others and rarely gave credit to a rival team.
Often blamed the ref or the pitch etc. However when we beat a rival team, he always used to give them credit.

I remember some of Steve Evans interviews at Rotherham and he used to do the same
Bigging up the opposition pre match, then if his team won he’d big them up even more, being ultra respectful.
But if his team lost then he’d slag off the opposition and/ or the ref.

Although to be fair, Warnock is just s very bad loser, it’s hardly the worse crime, it’s probably what makes him better.

As you say though Warnock did a great job for us and I’m sure will get a very positive reception on Monday night against Cardiff.
 
The idea that if you've met him once you are automatically a good judge of his character is an amusing one. Had you only met me once, on certain occasions, you would have thought I was the most miserable twat on the planet. People have ups and downs, and I can imagine that in Neil Warnock's world, these are a little more extreme and magnified than usual.

Met him a few times. He and Sharon even invited me over to Callington when I was stationed down there with HMS Manchester when it was in refit. I couldn't make it for one of a few reasons and left the ship in mid-2001.

He's not CPF material (I haven't been in contact with him for many years now) - but both he and his missus were great to be around. What you see in front of the camera - be it berating the lino, accosting the ref at full time, coming out with off the cuff wind-ups in a piece to camera in front of a sponsors board (which is JUST what the commentators want) is his 'Neil Warnock the football manager' personna. I'd imagine many managers are exactly like that. Apparently Ferguson is like that as is Mourinho. Away from it all they are different people which, when you think about it, in seven days between matches, you've had four or five training sessions, coaching and tactics meetings, public appearances, meetings with board members, countless reports and interactions with third parties like the Football League and FA, matchday prep and now you've just seen your club slump to a disappointing 0-2 defeat to a club you should have whupped were it not for some wanker like Graham Poll in front of 30k fans who have booed the players off and now you have some upstart Sky Sports pillock asking angular, barbed questions and your name is Neil Warnock what exactly do you do? "Ah, well Pete. I blame myself for their two goals. I should have been out there jockeying their player out wide and denying him the shooting chance and for the second, I blame myself because out of the 50/50 decisions the ref gave, 75% of them went to the other side. Never mind, eh? Sharon's got me tea on, so I must dash. See ya!"

He's only human.

I hope the crowd give him a good welcome on Monday. I think he'll love being back at BDTBL. It's his club.
