[MATCH OFF] Weather threat to Burton game

Still think it was a bad decision. Couple of injuries so what, could be worse in a few weeks. On the back of a good result on Tuesday. The club should not give up a 3.00 Saturday match so easily.

Very good. Dropped two places.

Just wait. Injury cleared up. Rested players, more planning and preparation and we get to know what's needed to be done. Chill. Good long term decision.

I don't care whether others have done it and I'm not saying we have, but calling a game off due to a couple of injuries (or poor form - see Walsall) and using something else as the official excuse is never acceptable. And when you'd be playing relegation fodder at home, it's inexplicable.

Relegation Fodder, mmmm, like Hull (away), Pigs, Bolton and Birmingham (OK a draw) Chuckle Ricky.

We have the 4th best record in the division against bottom half teams.

I didn’t realise that having a match cancelled on a Saturday could have such a profound effect on people’s lives

I'm profoundly indifferent about it. Suits me if anything. Not sure it suits the team. Quite sure it should have gone ahead.

What about all those hardy shareholders who turned up with their huskies and sleds, only to be told they could have free coffee as a sorry for no announcement of the postponement anywhere :)

I've been walking through town this afternoon and there was virtually no snow on pavements/roads. It's pretty ridiculous the came was called off over two days before actual match day.

True maybe it was unnecessary. But you got to remember we werent the only ones. 3/4 of the games in football league & national league followed after were postponed & the kop steps for me would be the big worry

So playing it a few weeks later will make a massive difference? Or are you expecting Burton to have "pissed La Liga" by then so they are mid table?

I certainly don't think playing it on a Tuesday night nearer the business end will make it any easier. Bad time for fixture congestion too.

If you knew the room number, it went ahead.

1. Something's happening over ownership of the club.

2. Wit is taking over as official social media spokesman, a position that's remained vacant since Jim left.

3. To keep Interpol at bay, Paul Woolhouse is moving back to SS H block next season and will wear a Stoney cap and Aquascutum scarf for all games. His beard is now grey.

4. Dog season tickets will be available 2018/19.

5. In any other business, any shareholders not affiliated to the McCabes, a Scarborough Company or who's ever eaten sheeps eyes or dressed up as an Arab Sheikh have been cancelled.

I know we would all like it for the match to be on, but looking at it from another angle (not sure if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread) but if it is postponed then it gives the players injured in the Reading match more time to recover for the Fulham game next week. That match is arguably more important than the Burton match.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I believe Eddiecolquhounsleg has hit the nail on the head and this is the real reason the game was called off so early.

The weather was purely a convenient excuse. If we can't beat Burton on a Tuesday night we might as well pack in, Fulham on the other hand are an entirely different proposition ;)

I hope they are down and “on the beach”.

I think the people going on about how this could be a good long term decision due to injuries clearing up/extra rest or whatever are taking football a bit too seriously! People work all week and like to enjoy the match on a Saturday as a social occasion - see mates, have a beer, watch United. That’s what I want to do. Many can’t get to midweek games as easily. I couldn’t give a fuck if the players get extra rest or not tbh.

If we’d played it and lost and missed out on the playoffs would we really be looking back going “Oh god if only we’d postponed the Burton match and played it later in the season thus giving us an on paper easy home game in hand near the business end of the season then we’d have made the playoffs”??
