If this has been done a million times before then please feel free to delete this thread but...

Can people collate a list of the most famous Blades fans?

  • Sean Bean
  • The ever debatable Micheal Palin
  • Chloe Newsome
  • Richard Caborne
  • Paul Heaton
  • Joe Elliot
  • Anna Walker
  • Ray Ashcroft

Then you've got Blades supporting managers Neil Warnock and Micky Adams.

All I can think of :)

What's the deal with Palin?

Did you hear Renee Zellwegger claims she is a Chelsea fan? And that she's been to "loads" of games and not been recognised! Rubbish.

Palin is a blade, because my mum was reading a book of his a bit back, and it had a sheffield united like clock/watch on the cover, he also commented on finding out that united had won Grimsby and was happy.

Also there was someone on(or was) the Bill who is a blade, see him quiete often at games.

The Bill guy is Ray Ashcroft who ran The Ball Inn on Myrtle Road next to where the Blades used to train and I watched all the great Blades players in the 70's train and shared many cups of tea after training.

I did fetch a few waywood balls for the pleasure though.

I remember players like Geoff Salmons and Ted Hemsley being very friendly players who ALWAYS had a chat with the kids there,

Good days....let's hope they have returned!

Up The Blades!

Dont ask me how I know (id have to kill you, or at least give you a purple durple) but the outgoing UK Ambassador to Baghdad is one of our own....

(its not that secret, he tweets about it quite a lot)

Some of those wayward balls found their way into our coal house (remember those?) on Myrtle Rd probably before you'd climbed over the wall to retrieve them.
We were a resourceful bunch of lads on t'Arbour... :-)
Agree about players in those days. We had some great laughs with Hodgy, Joe Shaw etc in early 60's and the later era such as Salmon's & co were always chatty and amenable.

The latest Michael Palin diary (out last month) has lots about him going to the Snortbeast's games in London, and referring to them as 'we'. He also mentions how devastating it was when 'United' (and, again, he uses 'we') got relegated in May 1994. In an earlier book, he said he likes both teams but considers himself a Blade, if pushed. Oddly, in the latest book, he doesn't mention the semi-final in 1993, but does mention going to the final (Pigs v Arsenal).

How about footballers who never played for us?

John Beresford
Richie Humphries
That lad at Scunthorpe (scored in their 4-0 win at the Lane)
Kevin Davies
Juan Sebastian Veron
Steve Heighway

Must be more than that though. Any more for any more?

Talking about Alex Hammond............iv'e not heard her spouting her mouth off about you know who, unlike you know who.

Also the Beast out of the chase is a blade,Mark Labbett i think you call him.

Probably because she hasn't first hand experience and she isn't the ambassador for a major charity supporting female victims.

Dave Berry
Joe Cocker
Paul Heaton
Kell Brook

One of them had his house up for sale over here , a few weeks ago , smashing gaff as well ,
on his lawn was a set of goalposts from BDTBL.

Have always wondered what he looks like. Any photos of him?
He was a skinhead mark1 only about 5ft 2 max but he had a right gob on him

Always started the opening chant Zig a Zaga Zig a Zaga United!
