Doesn't look any better than anything we already have?? Sharp and The Don to start satdy please Chris, time for a change, and FFS play Duffy too!

Think his link-up play is very good and I like how he drops deep and looks to get involved. Wasn’t this his 3rd start for the club or have I missed a ton of games? Give him a go alongside Billy or The Don and give Leon a week off, for me.

We signed the wrong Wilson on loan, should have been Harry Wilson from Liverpool.
Great prospect, went to Hull I think....

Against the better teams I don’t think 2 up top works.

I’d have gone two number tens because you could stiffle the opposition with numbers when you don’t have the ball. We did that somewhat second half with Bash in there but the game was over.

The two up front were passengers. But that was because we were unable to turn possession in the final third into anything meaningful.

There was a passage of play in the second half where we had the ball for about a minute in their third, passing, passing then lost. They went down the other end and in half the time had a shot just wide.

I like that we want to keep the ball but it does have to go somewhere.

That’s why we need Duffy back in there. He was MotM vs Leeds. It would be a mistake not to to start him.

To me the midfield should be Evans, Fleck and Duffy. The only choice then is who amongst Wilson, Sharp, Donaldson or Holmes partners Clarke until Brooks comes back.

Are you sure Dan?
Seen him 3 times now and I don't see the link play, at all.
Can't recall any one-two, rarely a give and go.
When he shows his first touch is awful.
I mean really awful - especially for a ManU grad.
He appears to have no understanding with any of the other players - least of all Clarke.
(Evans does so no need to highlight Wilson has only started a few games).
He doesn't get his head up and look for Clarke.
He doesn't get close to Clarke to run on to any flick ons when Clarke is challenging an aerial ball.
He doesn't seem to talk / point / encourage.
He doesn't close down properly - he runs and gets almost there but falls short of a challenge - contrast that with Sharp's pressing where he forces opposition into mistakes.
All of which means that Clarke is on his own chasing down the centre halves when he has a willing partner with the Don or Billy.
I really can't see how he is getting a shirt ahead of the Don or Billy.
He must be shit hot in training.

Away games are tailor fit for the Don.
His strength, power and pace are suited to the challenge.
Wilson might be best used as a second half sub at the Lane when we are looking to unlock a packed defence but on the evidence of three outings I really can't see how he is getting a shirt.
You say give him time.
I'd counter to say I haven't seen anywhere near enough to say he has shown glimpses or contributed.
Goal at Norwich was a Billy type strike and the overhead vs Villa was unlucky. That's it.
Not enough to displace one of the other options.

When he stated he sees his future at UTD, I didn’t realise he meant Southend !

Puzzling signing on so many levels. Isn’t very good but thinks he is mustard, which I find surprising for a Chris Wilder signing.

Did you just quote yourself? Dear God man.

In any case I agree with you, but I think even Wilder recognises the benefits of supplementing a good, hard-working honest squad with some premier league loan talent. Just a shame that this particular option doesn't appear to be really that.

Do you regularly take the piss out of folks you agree with ?

Your mates must love you !

Ps could i suggest that if you are gonna pick folks up for bringing up past quotes / statements, that you book some time off work. A couple of months should do it !

Just signed for Aberdeen on a season long loan

I know he wasn't rated at the Lane last season - please tell me there is a player in there somewhere??

no offence but the Scottish league might be his level, he was poor last season when he came off the bench, he rarely offered anything. I'm assuming there is a player there as he did well under giggs at man utd only problem that 4 years ago now also confidence is huge in a striker, as if gets on a roll who knows. & i doubt he will fill shoes of adam rooney who was top scorer for the last 4 seasons

Rooney was starting to slide down the pecking order last season so rightly went for a big payday elsewhere while he can

Wilson will go straight into our first XI as we are sorely lacking options up top. Hopefully gets his arse in gear this season!

Stand Free and UTB :D

He doesn’t work hard enough, but he might learn to. There must be talent in there...

I would say that he was God awful, but more realistically, he was just nothing. Invisible.

Whilst he was, ultimately, ineffective for us (and, by all accounts for Brighton the year before), I saw a few nice touches and there were glimpses of quality that suggested he could do well with a good run of games in the right team. It's almost certainly just his style, but his demeanor was not a good fit with SUFC. We like to see players putting in the effort and never giving in. He just seemed disinterested and had the look of someone carrying an injury.

Extremely confused as to why Man U don't just get rid. He's never going to make their squad and he's never going to command a big fee, so why not just sell/release him on and part ways?

Could well be a player in there somewhere but I saw nothing to suggest he warrants being employed by Manchester United.

Injury prone , i hope you have not loaned a pup , he looked sharp and fast but sadly mostly out of position for us .

They probably gave him a long-term deal on stupid wages after scoring a couple as an 18 year-old. If so, he'll be happy to sit on that whilst going out on loan until it runs out. No way will he ever make it there, or at the top level based on his performances for us.

To be honest he never looked like a player last season, which considering his pedigree and how he'd done elsewhere was surprising.

However, he was limited to cameos when he did make it off the bench and as a resulyt i don't think we ever really saw the full potential of him.

He came off the bench, at home against Wednesday (i think) and looked ok, but that was soon after he signed and we didn't really see him after.

I imagine that like Marc McNulty, he needed games and a chance to settle into the team. Cameos suit some players but it didn't suit Wilson.

I'd be interested to see how he does for yourselves if he's able to get more game time then you might get a very good player. Otherwise he'll be sitting on the bench a lot

hard to say really.

Note sure CW knew where to play him or if the kid just didn't do as he was told.

Seem to go all over the place in the games I saw him play.

He seemed to be up his own backside as though coming from Man U gave him some sort of status.

In the end we hardly played him, so very difficult to judge. As with all players, give him a position and get him to play that position. For me though he just looked like a player who Man U took as a junior, put him on a bucket load of dosh and never really produced what was expected.

Too much too soon perhaps?

He played one half decent game for usand got that goal against norwich. He wasn’t a goodfit for us but i think he’ll do alright for someone with a run in the first team

We played a pressing game. This involved chasing and harrying from the front. It wasn't his game, I suspect he likes to lurk along the front line and take the ball with his back to goal and then make something of it.

As soon as he realises he isnt good enough to be in Man Utds first team his career might start to kick on
