James Wilson

I heard all I needed to hear on his first interview with us when all he did was talk about getting back into the Man United team. It was like he’d agreed to come here in the same way that when I was 14, I agreed to wash my Dads car in return for ferrying me about to my Sunday football games; I accepted it, but I wasnt exactly relishing it. Wilson seems a very entitled, deluded young man who, despite having some raw talent, doesnt seem to want to work for it and appears to think he’s already made it. He’ll be one who slips down the leagues into obscurity by late 20’s because he’s already set for life and he has the heart of a pea. In 5 years, he’ll be swaggering about half-arsedly playing for Grimsby, convinced he’s above them and fully expecting a phone call back to the big time.

I absolutely love that line :D cracks me up every time I hear it

He’s not changed.

I’m coming here because I want to sign for someone else

He’s got posters of himself in every room of his house, hasnt he? And he’s signed them all.

He’ll get binned off by Man U in the summer, end up somewhere like Birmingham where the cycle will start again, just from a league lower; instead of being loaned out from Prem to Champ/SPL, he’ll get farmed out from Champ to L1. And when he turns up to the press conference when he’s loaned out to Shrewsbury, it’ll STILL be all about James Wilson and his bubble world.

Never saw anything in this guy to lead me to believe he'll play any higher than league 1. Hes weak, slow, shit attitude, no awareness. Maybe slightly better than john cofie and micheal twiss

Probably the best thing he ever did was puke pre-kick off while on screen playing for Brighton. Probably no coincidence the game was played on New Year's Day! Must have been a big NYE. Sums him up, really.

Crap player. I think he must have touched the ball about four times while he was with us. Slow, weak, no effort, poor positional sense.

Nearly scored an overhead kick, that's about the best thing he did.

I think he'll probably end up somewhere like Bolton to be honest once released. A team that's had some recentish success, a cup final and being in the PL and Europe but is now lower end champ, just so he can convince himself he's not taken that big a step down.

Needs a reality check badly, there might be a capable player in there but I suspect he'll market himself as "former Manchester United player James Wilson" for the rest of his career.

He is the problem as well as many others that youngsters at top clubs dont play for england or top clubs any more & its more from football league. Because i am a huge critical of premier league's team rather buying average foreigners than giving academy a chance.

Attitude is big thing. People are correct too many people get 30000 a week at 18 & it kills there motivation. They no longer focused on football or improving. More interested in say im a man utd "player" than being a regular for man utd or working your way back like ben foster & Ryan shawcross have i can see James Wilson. Joining ravel Morrison, Michael Johnson, John Bostock & even Martin odegarrd from another thread

Just another player to come from a very big club and not make the cut on loan with us, I agree it’s his attitude that will make him or break him, if he’s said what he’s said about going there to find another club that in intself speaks volumes..

His inability to see that the club are giving him a chance and be humble about it is disappointing, that said he’s clearly a luxury player with little or no end product, just glad we weren’t seduced by the ex Man Utd factor in the end..

Glttl... doesn’t mean owt either way to us does it..

To be fair, how old is he? Unless i was coached otherwise I was all about me at that age.

If he’d shown a proportion of the commitment, passion and effort (not to mention ability) that his teammate Henderson showed at qpr on Saturday, he would have more of a future, that’s for certain.

True. Henderson wants to play for Man United, but he knows he has to earn it. His confidence (not arrogance) is backed up by his ability which is acquired through hard work and the experience that it brings which he seeks out by the sounds of it.

Wilson probably has talent but as soon as Man United appeared on his CV he seems to have assumed he'd made it and stopped grafting.

Bang average I would say. I saw nothing to suggest a top flight player in the making. Most lacking seemed to be any effort or desire.

We have seen some class players in our recent past in Maguire and Walker who both showed those qualities by the bucket load.

I am loving Henderson already for his goal celebrations and passion, now he might just make it.

I hope the kid proves me wrong, but I think you have been sold a pup.

I can kind of sympathise slightly with Billy Sharp. I remember Wilson playing over him in the home match against Wednesday last season, despite only just having signed. That must have infuriated him.

McGoldrick coming in and going straight to the front of the queue must have compounded this further.

As for Wilson, can’t stand him. As a player, or (from what I’ve seen) as a character. He looks like he’s knackered all of the time (on and off the pitch) and his arrogance will ensure he’s never a fan’s favourite.

Love that Spoonerism btw! :D

Wonder if the deluded fucker still reckons he will do it at Man U ??

Woeful signing.

When I saw him score at Norwich I did think we may have something here but that was the high point and arguably the only point!

Place your bets on who goes for him in the summer.

I’m thinking Wigan/Blackburn/Huddersfield/Preston if in the north, or a QPR/Bristol C if in the south
If any championship side expressed an interest, I would be gobsmacked if it was a club with genuine promotion aspirations.

He is, presently, a L1 level player.

At best.

His ego would do well to drop down to this level, and go from there.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him back at Premier League Sheffield United along with some other exciting signing like James McLean
