Some very high valuations here. Especially for Freeman and Baldock - considering Cyrus Christie's recently gone for £2m and £3m.

It's very subjective due to the madness of the current market but it shouldn't all be based on crazy fees for the likes of Hugill and Madine. I just try to think how I might value our players if they were playing for other clubs.

Point taken Chali, and I respect your comments. I've long since lost the need to be 'right', it's just about voicing an opinion. I look at Madine, £6mil so I'm lead to believe, something's gone seriously wrong if that's the case. I think we all like to enjoy the idea that a player who cost next to nothing (and they all cost something, even on a 'free') could suddenly join the ranks of the Premiership. I suppose Maguire's a good case in question. Not that long ago playing alongside Collins, now being touted as a future England player. So yes, anything is possible if a team are desperate enough to chance their arm.

My error, meant to say regular England player. I've seen too many good debuts which have turned into false dawns, so a little patience where Maguire's concerned. I think he has the basic's to make a go of it, but let's see if his form is consistent. Hope so, he's as good as most Prem CH's I've seen.

The other factor in the JTW prices was time - the last day deals especially. Anyone wanting to sign a player was up against the clock, if the selling club is playing hardball then the buying club has to make it worth their while ie inflate the price. That doesn't take away the general silliness of transfer prices but for cases such as Madine it was probably a factor.

How do you not understand?
You say he was worth around half the figure banded in the OP, which would be £300k. If you rate him so much more than Wright, which he isn't THAT much better, you must only rate Wright around the 50k mark surely?

Stearman's value hasn't risen since he came here. Unless he's got younger since being here. A handful of good games doesn't add value, a full season maybe.

I see people berating Madine but for me, looking a bit more objectively and taking the fact he’s a massive cunt out of the equation, he put in the second best forward performance I’ve seen this season against us at the Lane(Clarke v Hull 1st, obviously).

The lad clearly has some talent and whilst I wouldn’t want him playing for us I acknowledge he’ll probably do a decent job at Cardiff.

I look at it like this. If, at the end of the season, we were offered £500k for Wright, CW would probably accept it. There's no chance he'd let Stearman go for that.
