The Wilder way...expansive, attacking football with hungry players in form, on the up, with the ability to step up and some of them for relatively cheaper prices. Baldock, Stevens, Thomas, Lundstram, O'Connell and now Leonard. It's a shrewd but exciting business model and look at what it achieved for Southampton...

Not sure if it's needed but he'll not only be an asset on the pitch but he'll also add something to the dressing room.

His 100% commitment, team player and strong work ethic is exactly what Wilder has successfully brought to the club over the past 18 months.

Leonard will be a welcome addition and another player we can identify ourselves with.

You have yourself a cracking no nonsense old school footballer. Amazingly fast, very very strong. Has a bullet of a shot. If you can improve his passing which is probably his weakness then he will fit in very well at that level and maybe higher.

He will be missed at Southend for sure, but none of us begrudge a young talent the chance to play higher after he has given such great service.
