Thoughts?

That the owners will think "well he's done well to get this far with only a small amount of money, maybe he can keep it up"...

Rather than:

"He's shown his worth, we may not have as good a chance again for several years, let's back him and get us up".

The latter is really unlikely to happen. Even PNE are spending and on players such as Boden (lower level, but proven and in form) which meet Wilder's ilk.

Wilder said in December that he was keen to get business done early on January and its still early days but I wonder which is closest to the truth:
  1. We're near to some deals being finalised.
  2. He said that, full of optimism, but not expecting the market to be quite as tough and overpriced as it is.
  3. He said that, to try and force the owners to back him, but this hasn't happened. He has previous of this at Northampton so as to avoid the owners giving cock and bull spin of "we tried for one or two, but..."
Truth be told, we don't know who all his targets are, he largely keeps this to himself. Truth be told, we don't honestly know how much or little he has to spend - it's widely accepted on here that it's the square root of bugger all.

What we do know is:
  • Our squad have been fantastic this year but we now lack depth.
  • We have seen no one to fear this season, we can give anyone a game, we just need the players in for squad depth.
  • We have a fantastic chance of promotion.
  • We play some of the best football in the country.
I'd say if the board are in any doubt, back the manager. He could get us up. If you don't, he could walk and many of the squad could be poached in the summer.

UTB.

We have to sit and wait until the end of Jan.

Let’s be honest if CW isn’t happy with the budget I’m sure it will come out at some point.

Is there a possibility that the board are happy to remain in the Championship, the ground is "almost" full each home game,Wilder is keeping the punters happy with the football, just look at all the massive expenditure that would have come with going up to the Prem, higher fee's,higher wages, build a bigger stand or two,,,,,how much do you get in the Prem £100m how far would that go,maybe they dont want the pressure on the pocket.

Not afraid, just haven't seen any evidence its gone into his pocket but its up to him if it relates to players sold before HRH arrived, he's put in a lot of dosh so can't moan if he takes some back. What might be happening is the plan for this season was just to survive and as we have just about done that we don't need a cash injection in Jan and things can be reviewed in the summer. Could be that the sell on money will be used in the summer instead of putting millions in to balance the books by buying new shares as has happened for several seasons now. Big decisions for Kev and HRH in terms of is the objective to always be a mid table championship side or to spend more or sell in order to push on up. Seems clear we are not going for the big push anytime soon. Brooks being ill might also have scuppered any JTW plans.

What new Dutch blokes?

Surely you didn't miss out an apostrophe? Daddy will be absolutely furious, so no new BMW for you this year.

These horse antibiotics I'm on are causing problems Si. Not getting them from Crab Mobile Pharmacy Again.

The Board are still in shock about the unwanted promotion last year.
They still can't work out what went wrong! :(

Plus the spunking money budget of £8m down the drain only ended up under £6m. A dark day in our financial history.

Think it’s unfair to call Biggs anything other than completely objective. He makes a point of lending support to all local clubs without favouring one over another.

100% this! If any local media is even slightly critical toward the Blades a few fans scream that they're pork or biased towards Wednesday.

Biggs is good and fair.

I also find Radio Sheffield fair (even though Staton is a pig).

The Sheffield star on the other hand well they don't even try to hide their biased.

One comment on all this... the moment we stop building is the moment we start to fall back from all the progress we’ve made.

It doesn’t have to be big money, but it must mean new players and refreshing the squad. We’re keeping our quality players at the moment because of our upward trajectory.

As soon as we come out of a transfer window unchanged, or even having lost one of our best players, it’s most likely going to mean we’ve topped-out for a while.

I don’t expect multimillions, but keeping our quality and augmenting the backup with players who can genuinely pressurise the established lads will do fine for me.

McCabes pocket? How can he do that? At the date of the last accounts the FC didnt owe him any money it was all in shares or share premium.

Shit like this just gives the antiMcCabists something to carp about even though itsbollocks.

The rest of your post I pretty much agree with though.

I've had the shits for a couple of days. What's the minimum period I should make sure I'm in the toilet before I can confidently loose off a fart? Is today too soon?

Also, why are Cheddars so addictive even if I don't really like Cheese?

I'd consider a few test firings on the toilet if I were you. It's amaxing how far a trouser accident spreads trust me.

With you on the Cheddars. Like wine Gums, you can't just eat one can you?

I havent seen any videos of Chris Wilder in floods of tears over the transfer budget

that would worry me

but he seemed quite bouncy yesterday
the only people Ive heard go on and on and on about it are the usual suspects

we dont play a league game for another week yet and thats only t pigs
whats the all fired rush

He's bouncy because he has Crab Industries shares and Crab Airlines had it's first safe (ish) landing of the year yesterday so the shares went up a bit. I'm quite emotional with pride actually, last year the first safe (ish) landing was 24th February.

Without a hint of irony :D

The reason we have antiMcCabists is no one will explain the situation clearly but always in riddles and most of us don't have the time to read or understand it all so the doubt will persist. I suspect without him we'd have been stuffed long ago and be in a lower league but am curious to know how far he and HRH are prepared to take us.

No one knows. But that didn't stop you wondering if he'd pocketed the Walker/Maguire money.

As long as our fan base regard any signing as a back-up for whoever happens to be their favourite player at the moment we will never sign anyone. For example, does anyone really think Leonard is going to join us and sit on the bench waiting for Duffy, Fleck or Lundstram to retire. The latter would be the obvious choice to make way for Leonard but listening to some on here he's the new Iniesta.

Never understood the ridicule sports journalists get in our area. We’ve got the best bunch in the country if you ask me. There’s obviously certain allegiances amongst many, but on the whole they do a good job of remaining neutral and providing fair coverage.

Trust me it could be much worse.

OK, I've commented extensively on the budget and I'm not saying any more. I genuinely have nothing to add that I haven't posted already.

My concern is this new director and what his role is. I share Biggy Smalls' concerns over this bloke having any direct control over what Wilder does. If his job is to head up European scouting and make recommendations to CW, great. If he has any input into who the club signs, not so great. If he starts trying to veto CW's signings, very bad. For me, it's a much bigger issue than the JTW budget. I can't see CW walking because money is tight, he knows the score on that front but start telling him he can't sign the players he wants or start signing players over his head and I think he could go.
