I saw that too, managed to get this photo when it landed on the pitch.

Was it a Crab Airlines Flight ?

Crab Airlines are trying to get into the Far Eastern market. But due to cash flow issues, our bid for a fleet of Airbus 380's had to be slightly downgraded.

She's a beaut isn't she?

The players looking tired, lacklustre and void of ideas yesterday against Wendy’s, lots of effort but not much quality.

CW said yesterday that it didn’t look like anyone else was coming in! SO, predictabley it looks like the board are not prepared to make that modest push to get us into the top six. It’s strange that CW seems to be satisfied with what he has been given by the board? I really did think that this was the start of a new era but their still doesn’t seem to be any serious ambition at my club.

I really struggle to understand where you're coming from. We have just signed 3 new players and there are strong rumours that a fourth will be added before the end of next week. Modest push?????? 'still doesn’t seem to be any serious ambition at my club' ???? Makes little sense to me.

CW said last night “I don’t think their will be anyone else coming in, we’ve tried to get out of what we’ve been given”

I know he said that after the game......maybe Holmes was in the hotel, cos he'd just come up to watch the match?
Interestingly he didn't play for Charlton today and they could only find enough players to name 5 subs

People need to realise the budget last season and some of this season has been made up from shipping out Deadwood like Hammond Woolford and Bradford etc along with other players who aren’t in there bracket but just don’t quite cut the mustard.

The board have to balance up the players they are paying that aren’t there.

We have to balance everything we are coming up from League one we need to turn some players over that aren’t good enough and go from there.

However our budget limit is going to be justified by attendances and backing from KM. Yes he does back us but is he a billionaire like some of these championship owners? No he isn’t.

We will cut our cloth accordingly. Unless he decides to sell to a billionaire etc.

Perhaps CW made the comment about no more in, after Holmes had put pen to paper. He just forgot to tell us?

As for budgets I'll stick mi neck out and say that perhaps what CW asked for at the board meeting to discuss his transfer budget, CW was given?

Thought that was the deal with the Prince, or was that just a dream I had?

Personally I’m very happy with what we’ve done.

Any further additions would be bonuses now.

We’ve let Whiteman go, a player who couldn’t 100% hold down a place all the time at Donny. We’ve replaced with Evans, a key player at the team top of that division.

We’ve got Leonard, Wilder’s no 1 target in the summer which will bring a different quality but will help cover for the loss of Coutts.

Both on perm deals.

We’ve brought in a loanee with a bit of pace and given up Hanson who wasn’t in the squad, on loan.

We’re getting Holmes, another one of Wilder’s top targets, who will allow us to not rely so heavily on Duffy. We may end up loaning Carruthers and not selling him to Charlton which, given his age and contract length might suit all, especially if he does well, which he should do in League One.

We’ve also permanently offloaded James Wilson, the defender, who we wish well after he set us on our way vs Oxford.

It’s been an excellent window. We’ve brought in four potential starters and if it ends at that then no issues from me.

Appreciate people wishing we’d spend that little bit extra while we have this golden opportunity ahead of us, but...

This is our first season back in the Championship after 6 years absence. It’s clear our owners don’t have the financial clout that many in this division have - they can’t hand Wilder a blank chequebook. To quote Wilder, we’re “cutting our cloth accordingly”. This means making good value signings and giving them a chance to bed in and step up to the level. This approach might take a little longer than throwing money around, but it’s sustainable and can be very effective (Burnley, Huddersfield).

Say we get Holmes (I’m 95% sure we already have), and no one leaves, it will have been an outstanding window imo. Wilder has improved our squad and first team every single window. It’s unrecognisable to the one he inherited. We haven’t spent much at all to achieve this, and our most of our signings could be sold on for a good profit. It’s a squad that, under the management of a very good manager (which we have), has a real shot at promotion.

Whether we’re in the Championship or Premier League next summer, we’ll have a great platform to add to. We have good squad depth and a smattering of real quality all over the pitch. Without having to spend money paying off poor, overpaid signings from the previous regime, and given another year of Championship revenues, we should have a moderately larger budget in the summer.

Looking at the wiki page for United this season, the estimate on there is that £4.33m has been spent on transfers this season. And that's without considering the undisclosed fees paid for Donaldson and Heneghan (what? - £75thou + £250thou?) or the Ricky Holmes fee (£400thou?). All in all, we're talking about £5m spent out in transfer fees.

Thankfully, there's been the influx of the Walker/Maguire sell-ons (£7m?). But apart from that, nothing in the way of incoming transfer fees up to now (bar for Ben Whiteman - what, £100k?). Got to admit, I'm still a bit queasy about whether a major sale is yet to happen.

But, as things stand, & when you take into account the considerably increased wage bill (through clauses in contracts for promotion, & the various new contracts agreed), the owners deserve a hell of a lot of praise. Not going wild, but definitely significant investment.

You get away from cash-rich exceptions like Wolves, & you don't see that many sides in the division who seem to have shelled out more on transfer fees at this stage.

It’s strange that CW seems to be satisfied with what he has been given by the board... well it seems like he wasn’t?

In January too many, on this thread commented that they were more than happy to consolidate and go again next season, rather than push on with the momentum we obviously had, to expect the board to show some ambition with a modest amount for CW (maybe 10 mil?) to have a go at the 180 million prize was never going to happen. In his RS interview CW said... “the boards told me that the priority was to keep United in the Championship, and I have delivered” but that’s not really good enough for Chris is it, he is ambitious and wants to push United forward, it’s also not good enough for me and many other Blades too, we have seen it so many times :(

We all know that United don’t invest in the team, never have done, never will do, they have no vision, consequently they gave him 2-4 mil for 3 so-so League 1 (nothing better than we already have) players. CW talked like I gave it a go with the miserable budge the board gave me but has now come to the conclusion that we are not good enough. So he is now asking for clarification where the club is going? he has done wonders with what he had been given in the summer but he can’t ‘keep pulling rabbits out of the hat’

All us Blades know we never invest in the team, we never have and we never will . What puzzles me though is why Chris is so surprised and disappointed ? He's a Blade just like we all are so he surely must know there was never going to be investment in the team as there never is !!!! Maybe he's just a bit thick ? Who knows :(

Maybe he's preparing the ground for his departure.

Maybe he's preparing the ground for his departure.

Maybe, or maybe he's doing what he did at Northampton. We all remember the 'not appeh' interview and things were much worse but he stuck by them and turned them around. Maybe he 'managing upwards' and trying to influence what's going on.

One things for sure, he's not appeh again!

With all of the goodwill he's built between himself and the fan base is he in serious danger of losing it ?

Basically CW said that the ‘powers that be’ F**cked up the probability of a top six finish.

This problem wil not go away.... TO BE CONTINUED!

TIME TO CONTINUE.... In the light of CW’s interview on Praise or Grumble (Saturday) which to be honest didn’t surprise me and also did not worry me either, quite the opposite I am very pleased and excited that at last we have a manager who Knows what he wants and his prapared to ‘move on?’ if the owners don’t have the same ambition for our club. CW wants (needs) progressive investment to do his job and indeed because the owners did not ‘go for it’ with the modest investment needed in January will now find that the investment needed will be significantly more.
I suggested that a modest 7+ million in January would have given us a great chance of the playoffs and who knows what would have happened? (If we then had not got promoted the 2 new quality players brought in would now be up and running for next season) but it didn’t happen so this summers investment will need to be a lot more! Some have already spoke about next seasons Championship being a lot tougher. CW’s seemed to think so too and alludes to having a good idea what he wants, seemed to be talking about players he was looking at?
I would suggest that because we did not invest in January that the investment needed will now not be 7mil but nearer 18million (6 players)
Is CW that ambitious? Would the owners back CW? if not would CW walk? plenty of clubs would take him tomorrow, so does that give him a better chance of getting the budget that he wants?

Right now I think Wilder wants clarity more than anything. Yes we do need to increase our budget, no doubt about that. Right now though I'll be pleased to just hear that Wilder has any form of budget, because right now it seems what's going on above his head is the first thing that needs sorting.
