Surely nobody could seriously advocate that? The last thing we need to be doing is trying to find a goal scorer replacement to fit straight into the team in this January window.

Sell Brooks? Well excess of £10m is a lot of money. And there are 2 trains of thought here.
1. Sell him, and invest the money in 2/3 players of renowned ability at this level.
Problem with this, is firstly signing any player is a gamble. It’s not certain to work out and new players generally need time to settle.

2. Keep Brooks for a further year or two.
This too has its problems in that we cannot be sure he’s going to get better and better. Anyone paying the fees mentioned is buying potential at this moment, as Brooks is not a player who influences games like a player in that bracket might consistently. However, if as we hope he does, Brooks does go to the levels expected we have a star to build a team around while his value in 2 years could be in the £20-30m bracket. He could also see United promoted!
So the financial gain there would dwarf any potential sale now.

Would be handy to see into the future eh!

We can’t look to replace first team regulars in January. We can however look to replace those nowhere near the team. Lavery, Hanson. The lad from Hartlepool to name three. Replace those lads and strengthen the squad should be the plan, not replace our better players and be no better off. It’s having a lack of depth in quality that has cost us a chance of autos as we picked up injury and suspensions.

Sell Leon and replace him in the starting line up with the Don (almost as good a goals to game ratio as Leon) Cash in, none out.
Devante Cole comes in Billy gets sold which should leave a slight money balance in our favour .
Since Lunny is fast replacing Couttsy we no longer need to spend money on a 'Couttsy replacement', so get the 10 mill plus for Brooks and bank the lot, earning 1% interest a year which would be enough to reduce the pies by 20p each making them only very over-priced instead of ridiculously over-priced but claw that back and more by increasing the programmes by 25p.
