Signing a winger to play in a team that plays without wingers

A lot of these wingers can play centrally or off a striker though. There aren't as many out and out wingers these days, or at least managers are more flexible in how they use them.

I think if Undsworth is handed charge until the end of the season he will use more of the younger players as an example to all the big money players that aren't cutting it there to get them to pull the fingers out.

I'd love us to go in for Phil Foden of City, looks a world class player in the making. Guardiola raves about him already and has already described him as world class. Just won player of the tournament at the u17s World Cup. Big pressure on Pep to deliver the title this season so may have to use tried and tested methods/players to that, so 6 months with us may do Foden the world of good. Top half side playing good flowing football, and Brooksy may know him from his city days. Pep wants to integrate him into the first team so I think that'll be the case next season, but he could be an exiting addition for the remainder of this term.

Playing Foden would mean dropping Duffy or Brooks... as talented as the lad is i would rather develop Brooks.

He's essentially a right winger so not sure how he'd fit into Utd's formation. He's not defensive (or good) enough to displace Baldock and I'd be amazed if he was brought into replace Duffy and/or Brooks.

I think more cover for Fleck, Coutts and Lundstram and a pacy option up front (with Hanson and possibly Lavery going out) are far more likely targets.
