FOUR strikers injured

All of that and look what the man has achieved. Ok it all might go wrong any time soon but I'm enjoying it all cos we have a miracle worker.

I wasn't disrespecting any of our players btw with this thread.
I was trying to put in context what Wilder has achieved with limited resources, particularly in the last two games and comparing this with what Pigs and Wolves have spent.
Remarkable really.
 
YES! We, Northampton Town were bottom of the football league, 6 points from safety on January 27th 2014 when CW became the Cobblers manager. Teams tend to get relegated when they are bottom at Christmas, let alone at the end of January. We stayed up! In November 2015 we were within days of being wound up and staff and players were being unpaid. CW gave what is now for us a legendary speech after we beat Notts County away imploring the then present owners not to take the club over the edge and to hand the reigns on to the people who are now the present owners. It was a pivitol moment and one that had results on and off the field. By the end of the season we had won the division by a canter.

His story continues at Sheffielf United.

Good luck for the rest of the season, I want to see CW in the Prem!

Now you come to mention it I'm sure I saw him strolling across Undrbank Reservoir awhile back...
 
The crazy thing is is that previous managers have 'spunked' ridiculous amounts of money on ageing or useless mercenaries which has put the club in financial difficulties.

Enter Chris Wilder who signs young vfm players, many at the end of their contracts or not in their first team squads.

The key thing is though is that he has coached and improved the performances of the vast majority of the existing squad some of whom many of us wouldnt have been bothered if they'd left the club.

The point of the post is that he HAS worked a miracle with the squad at his disposal and especially with recent excellent results despite the many injuries.

We may level out and finish mid table and I would be happy with that but my hope is that KM and the Prince make Chris the highest paid manager in the Championship to protect the man who will take us into the
Premiership.
 
I believe a lot of his success comes from having worked his way up from non-league learning the trade and how to get the best out of limited or underperforming players. He treats the clubs money like it’s his own and the level of dillegence the management team do on potential signings if above and beyond anything we’ve seen before.

Contrast that with somebody like Bryan Robson who was handed a managerial career on a plate and couldn’t understand why his players couldn’t do what he did in his prime.

Few things in football wind me up more than rookie managers walking into a big job just because they were good players. They should all learn their trade in the lower leagues and actually prove they can manage.

If Ryan Giggs is so keen to be a manager, knock down the Oldham owners' door and beg for the job, don't expect to walk into a big club with a multimillion pound budget just because you were a good player.
 
He's certainly worked Miracles at BDTBL, the mans a pure genius

No. Just has a squad capable of great things
 
The last time I saw this type of impact from a UK manager was David Moyes at Preston then Everton followed by Eddie Howe at Bournemouth.

No miracle worker, but he and the above two are honest UK managers that have the X factor with managing football teams. We certainly have to prepare for a lower/average Prem team taking a serious interest in him - probably for the first time in the summer of 2018.

What CW should consider very carefully is Everton was Moyes upper limit(or a perfect fit), therefore is United the limit of what CW can go to? Totally convinced he can take us into the Prem and keep us there and he will have a massive amount of credit in his tank with us whatever happens. It won't be like that at other clubs. As daft as it seems he might easily become a Frank de Boer with chairman in the prem.

CW is a perfect fit with United, and it's a brave person that knows and admits to their limits.

After all the grief fans gave coutts under clough and adkins for a manager to come in and get him playin like he is now , for me yes he a fuckin miracle worker , and that goes for others who he now turned into proper championship players ie bash freeman .UTB

What the Lord Wilder of Nazareth has created is a proper TEAM, not just the 18 that pull on the red and white jersey each game but the rest of the playing roster and also right across the whole coaching staff including a very very important right hand man in Alan 'the BFG' Knill.
Leadership comes from the top and Wilder is showing these boys that TOGETHER they can out perform supposedly fancied opponents who in a lot of cases are just a set of fancy Dan individuals who happen to wear the same coloured shirt and do not generally give a flying f*** about who they are playing for as long as the pay cheque is big enough.
I have no doubts he will take us all the way and I think it will happen a lot faster than we all thought was possible.
This is a special time, I have been watching the Blades since 1965 and not since gentleman John Harris have we had this sort of TEAM
Enjoy the ride boys and girls, the money spunkers will not know what has hit them as the Wilder express passes through La Liga at high speed

Him and Knill buy a lot of undervalued players who fit into what he's trying to build. He does a lot of research into the opposition and he isn't the sort of manager to fit square pegs into round holes. He obviously creates a good atmosphere in the dressing room but that is partly a side effect of building a winning team.
This might sound crazy but I believe he has it in him to become the first English manager to win the Premier League. It is more likely to happen with a larger club than us, but after Leicester who knows!?
Him and Dyche are the best English managers around right now.

Totally agree with the plaudits.

The weird thing is that we don’t over rely on individuals (like we did with Currie and Deane), we really are a TEAM.’
Wilder gives out clear instructions and plays to his players strengths, simplicity really.
They must do loads of work on the training ground because they all know their jobs and what their team mates are expected to do.

Also another weird factor that I’ve never seen before, the team ALWAYS turns up.
The attitude of the players is always first class as though they all really really care, never seen anything like it.
Even when we lose we still play reasonably well and compete.

Wilder plays winning football though Dyche has a touch of the Non League Nigel in him of grinding out very boring draws, no taking off a centre half and bringing on a forward to win it for Dyche unlike CW

Exactly this. You don't have to go that far back to see Gary Neville making a tit of himself in Spain. Go back further and you see the likes of Bobbys Charlton & Moore being abject failures at the job. On the other side of the coin Mourinho and Wenger were no-mark footballers. There is no correlation whatsoever.

True, but the measure of a good manager is outperforming your budget. He got a Burnley side on one of the smallest budgets in the championship to the Premier League, they were unlucky to go down the first time but they bounced straight back up. Maybe Dyche wouldn't be as successful at a big club with those tactics, much like non-league Nigel at ours.

Couldn't agree more. Seemingly every time England are inevitably sent home packing from a tournament, Shearer sits on the comfy pundits sofa and complains how he could do a better job and should be given a chance at the England role. He's never actually gotten off his arse and tried to learn his trade at a lower league club, working with miniscule budgets, a ground that's falling apart and fans who are on his back every week. The only reason he got an ultimately unsuccessful short stint in charge of Newcastle is because he's a club legend.

Much easier to sit on your backside and criticise than get off it and actually prove yourself. Give me the Wilder's, Dyche and Eddie Howes anyday.

Second that...... but since 1958; we finally have a Manager who surpasses even his standards.
John Harris was a miracle worker too, having that knack of picking up gems at "next-to-nowt" prices, but also able to blend them into great teams with his tactical nouse and his motivational powers; his players loved him and had total respect. He improved players under his tenure; he introduced young players and gave them the confidence to compete; he instilled discipline and work-rate in training, and built teams with players who were prepared to run through brick walls for the red & white shirt. Bassett and Warnock have built us great teams too, but, given the circumstances and limitations imposed on Chris Wilder, I put him ahead of them. The speed with which he turned this club around is unbelievable, and if any Manager has achieved that with another club then I need to pay more attention in future, because I can't think of any.
Maybe I should keep my powder dry and wait to see if he pulls off the ultimate impossible dream of back-to-back promotions for us, but sod that..... I've already stuck my neck out and predicted that (before the season started) so I'm not going to start being coy now. This manager is the best we've had.
 
Miracle worker?
On the one hand, no. He's a bastard. He's got the job what I wanted to do all my life and done better than I could.

On the other hand, yes. My impotence is cured every time I listen to him talk and watch this T.E.A.M. leave it all on the pitch, win, lose, or draw.
 
I'd say no. This isn't a miracle. It's what we deserve but he's the only manager in eons who understands what is required.
 
Weir, Clough, Adkin's then incomes Tufty. We are at the bottom of league 1 after 4 games........

Fast forward 12 months later we (he) has
  • Won promotion
  • With 100 points
  • Has a +70% win rate
  • spanked the Pigs in their own back yard,
  • Killed their bouncy thingy
  • Put Syd James to rest
  • Sitting 2nd in the championship
  • 8 points clear of pigs
And you start a thread asking if he's a miricle worker
 



We have won 17 of our last 21 league games
And also won 6 out of 6 pre season friendlies.

Wilder is a winning machine and we’re currently on a 80% win ratio going back 20 odd matches.
That is insane, bet we’ve never had a run of 17 wins from 21 league matches before.
