I'd like to see Hendrie given a run in the side.

don't know if anyone saw the piece about him in today match day program?
this is what it said.....

Lee Hendrie has returned this month determined to fight for a place in Kevin Blackwell's plans.

The midfielder, who has started just 10 matches since signing for the Blades 18 months ago, has returned from a loan spell at Blackpool with the bit between his teeth.

Although he has been an usused subsitute in the last two Championship encounters, he was given a late run at Orient and wants to use that as a stepping stone:

"It's great to be back. I've had a chat with the gaffer and said that i want to get my head down with the aim of getting back into the team. He told me that I'm part of the squad and I'm happy with that."

"I've grafted hard and been on the bench which is a start and I aim to build from that. I was given five minutes at Orient and was gagging to get on earlier."

"I want to play football every week, and with no disrespect to them, going to Blackpool gave me a kick up the backside."

Look back at his loan spell, Lee feels it served its purpose and is delighted that his team-mates have spotted a noticeable difference in recent weeks:

"I improved my fitness up there, but it was a wake up call more that anything. I've looked at myself over the last couple of months and realised that maybe i did tak my foot of the pedal."

"Having rewatched a few of my old games to see what I used to do, I realised that a part of my game is ing fit and getting up and down the pitch - that is what I want to get back to."

"I feel confident and sharp, everything I want to be. The lads have been talking and saying that I've been on fire in training, that's given me a boost and got me back on the right track"

:)

Definitely looked like he was eager to make an impression.

if he starts to perform then he should be chosen over howard........... he is pap at the moment

It was nice to see him booed on to the field  It's a bit sad when Andy Gray is given a warmer reception.

This is what we were saying from pre-season. He looked as though he'd had an attitude change then and was playing well. I think when he was about to get a run in the team, he got a foot injury and that was the end of that.

Some people will continue to boo him for some perceived indiscretions though. I have no problem with him if he starts to earn his wages and I would hope other people would give him a chance too.

I can't understand why people are booing him. What has he done wrong?

I'd like to see him get in the side and play well. He is good enough.

Where I was sat, people were cheering him and telling him to show us what he could do, myself included. Didn't hear too much booing, myself.

On another note... did anyone else think that Hendrie's goal was deflected while at the match, only for the (shite) ITV highlights to completely miss the deflection?

It was deflected in.

It hit the wall and wrong footed the keeper.

Not sure it would of gone in had it not taken the deflection.

I think it was only really a minority and seemed to be coming from the kop, but we could hear it from half way on John Street.

Well it's not hard to be our best footballing midfielder at the minute when we have Montgomery and Howard

It'd be a lot harder without him there winning back the ball.

He was a bit toss yesterday, to be honest. Still breaking stuff up, but tried to take too many balls on the half-volley, only to shank them and watch them spin hopelessly away. We were far better as a team in fact when we played the ball on the ground.

what monty does is not hard, you could put a schoolboy on the field and ask him to run about and make tackles, i've stood up for monty before but after the charlton game i thought thats enough, he really is shit, i think howard and hendrie would be a much better pairing. people may say he works his socks off but we need more than someone who can run about, he just hasn't got a footballing brain i.e. to win the ball hold it see a pass and make the pass... Sorry monty but i think you poor!!

didn't here the booing on the kop where i sit, although there is a few blokes who sit a few rows behind me a seem to just come to abuse any one who puts a foot wrong, they really piss me off. For instance naysmith gets it every home game and for me he's improved no end this season, kenny gets it off the bloke webber doesn't escape it, and against charlton they were mouthing at sharp calling him a lazy bastard and telling to chase a dead ball in the corner, this is in the 93rd min after he'd run his bollocks off. These people piss me off!!!

Ok, let's put Howard and Hendrie in together and let's see how few tackles are made in the middle of the park.

tackles dont win games, do they??????? + i'm sure hendrie can tackle and pass as he's shown all his career!!!!!!

goals and a solid defence win games, not a midfielder that runs about for 90+mins and cant make a pass. What i'm sayin is do we need monty in there? i think not as there is better options. Tackles can help yes in the final third!!

I'm sorry but from what i've seen of Howard so far, Monty is much more capable of getting forward and creating things.

no no no, you can't be serious, howards been at the club for 2mins we wont see the best of him till nxt season i think, but monty creating things no chance, how many goals and assists has monty got in his blades career (any one)!!!!!!!!!

Have you actually watchd anything monty has done this season or are you one of the Judged before the game starts type of 'fans'?
Some of Monty's passes this season have been fantastic (some not so but same can be said for all our midfield).
9 games unbeaten since Monty came back says a lot.
Monty does the dirty stuff that allows the other central midfielder to go forward.
Give him some credit, he is a Blade afterall.

Brian howard 15 apperances or a couple more, 1 goal and 27 in 121 games for barnsley, Monty 238+ games 7 goals

but monty's a defensive midfielder not an atacking midfielder you need someone like monty in the midfield or you get over run in the midfield

Stats mean nothing when quoted like that.
Monty does what he does, if you dont like it tough, Blackwell does.
You always need workers in your team to allow the flashier players to do their thing.

did u not read an early comment? i've stuck up for monty alot over the seasons!!! i never pre judge any one before the games.. i'll give credit where credits due, 9 games unbeaten is down to the players and manager as a whole not just monty, 11 goals since beattie left and henderson came in is that down to hendo???

He hasn't hindered the goal scoring thats for sure

stats mean nothing??? top goal scoring charts and average attendances mean nothing then!!! i'm not doubting or sayin that monty doesn't work hard or try his best, i said i think hendrie and howard would be a better pairing!! And just tackling isn't enough which alot of you seem to think is, he needs to do something with the ball when he wins it which he doesn't. As for flashy players?? could you name a few plz... not just someone who does a step over.
