New view of Lane re-development

Used Google Earth to make a quick comparison, although I couldn't get the angles quite the same:
Here, try this...

I presume its from the extension plans we had for the 2018 World Cup bid which surprisingly went to the Sty because they're ground is next to a park!

I think we can realistically expect the Kop to be built like above and that's probably realistic in the next ten years or so!
I don't think so, I'm sure the appartments (outside the south stand) is a more recent idea from mccabe, I don't know how much it differs from the world cup bid design but I do believe this is a new plan.

Lovely picture but unless we get into pl or get new owners there no chance of this happening in my lifetime or possibly my kids.

What's the point, it's PL standard already. There isn't a stadium to match it before Midlands hull and Manchester and we don't fill what we've got every game.

Meh

Sorry if this has been asked before, but where you got the pic from? I presume its from the extension plans we had for the 2018 World Cup bid which surprisingly went to the Sty because they're ground is next to a park!

That pic of Billy is from last season isn't it? So that part is new at least :D

So does anyone actually know where the picture is from? or has someone literally just photoshopped it?

"This is Hotel Bastados, if you want soft toilet paper, go to Hotel Gayboy, over the road"
Probably my favourite out of all the Comic Strips.

'I don't think I like this place.'

'I don't think I like you.'

'I don't think I heard that.'

'I don't think I said it.'

'I don't think... therefore I am!'

Brilliant! :D

I think it is photoshopped. There's no way they could have built those stands in 2 weeks since the Derby game - not even with Chinese money and labour.

I knew some dickhead would be along to state the obvious haha. Let me rephrase....

Is this some kid on photoshop or is this part of plans that have been submitted and actually in scope for the future?

Well the kop at a minimum needs the improvements, get rid of them poles. Still won't likely sit on that stand either way with the lack of leg space made it so uncomfortable.

Oh you old charmer, you. You certainly know how to sweet talk a gentleman, you do...

According to a mate *cough*, it's a fresh look at the previous 2009 outline planning permission for the south stand extension, along with the previously approved kop extension and the mixed use and residential schemes... 'he said'. It's nothing new, baring a few wall decos.Whether anything will come of it is anyone's guess. The board have a track record of getting permission (kop/flats) and not building anything, then extending the permission before the 3 years have elapsed. It would make HUGE sense to get it all done together though, rather than doing it piecemeal. Said my mate who knows about this sort of thing.... ;)

I'm fairly certain that somebody in room 225 of the copthorne is going to be disappointed with the view

Looks as though Copthorne Hotels didn't read the small print on 'future planning applications'.

Can see their legal team contributing to the 'McCabe Has to Go' thread.

McCabe owns the hotel. Copthorne just run it.

See that shop and flats on the corner of cherry street is on that? We just got planning permission for that but not sure when works starting.

Would love to see the whole development take place. Those who say we wouldn't fill it or short sighted.

A few years ago 17000 attendance at the Lane would have been considered good. Now we think that would be a poor attendance in League One.

Our fan base as grown. Probably somewhere in the region of 8000 who actually go to matches on a regular basis just in the last 10-15 years.

We all know 32000 wasn't big enough in 2007. We should be looking at 36000 capacity as a bare minimum if we have ambitions of being a top tier mainstay.

That won't be big enough on some occasions to begin with but we don't want to be like some other clubs with grounds far too big for them such as those at S6.

Once established in the top flight go ahead with the South Stand extension. But the kop extension is the priority. You can argue all you like about return on investment and the kop not generating enough revenue.

But the bigger picture says you need to build your core fan base, and you start by developing the cheaper stands to build the numbers who then move onto more expensive seats in the more expensive stands as they get older and more affluent.

Absolutely right. We haven't a clue whether we would 'fill it' because the demand for Premiership football at such a ground is unknown. In any event you don't have to 'fill' an extended stadium, but simply get enough in to make it viable.

We filled our ground in Division Three against Chesterfield! What's the potential for big matches against the Premier elite teams in a city centre ground big enough to accommodate many thousands of away and neutral fans? Vast, is the obvious answer.

People with Chronic Bladey Inferiority Complex constantly underestimate the huge potential of our club. We're massive (don't bother, no fucks wasted on the Pigs or parochial cap-doffing).

I was lucky enough to go to the States last summer and they completely embarrass the UK in regards to re-investing revenue into the stadium infrastructure. Some of the stadiums (and not just the big'uns) were so swish and it was a genuine pleasure being in the concourses having a drink before a game. It's crazy that Everton can get £100m plus for Lukaku and yet still play football in a shed that is in desperate need of a lick of paint. We should 100% take the initiative to build a beautiful home which will inspire the next generations of fans and encourage more people to make a day of saturday fixture and spend more money on drinks and food etc. I'm sure longer term the renovations will pay themselves back and for young people growing up in the area it will sway them to chose supporting us over our local rivals. Can't see it ever happening but if you reading this McCabe wouldn't you want to leave some kind of legacy before you leave?!

The yanks abuse public funding, hold cities to ransom and have far more empty space for swanky new stadiums than we do. They have 144 professional teams in a country the size of Europe, we have 92 Professional Football teams in a country the size of California. They've got more space to build the stadiums in and half of all MLS stadiums have huge amounts of public money behind them. Plus they have a hardon over knocking down old buildings and replacing them with new ones that will last a few decades at best.

Stadium building in America is a swindle, and to suggest they have a better model than we do is barmy.

Because he is current club captain, whose goal tally last season was one of the main reasons why we ended up on 100 points, and topped League 1 from January to the end of the season. A Sheffield lad who is a born and bred Sheffield United fan, leading his team out on to the pitch week in, week out. To many of the young fans, he is a hero. To many of the old (like me) fans, he is a hero. As the old saying goes "he's one of our own".
Yes I get all that. But rather than something permanent like that focused on one player I'd prefer a light box display which shows images of all the great players down the years. A moving montage. It's relatively easy to do and doesn't date or put one player on a pedestal above others.

I agree and don't think the mock up is intended to be forever. I get your drift though.
