McCabe has to go

I don't smell pork, and, as an aside, I really hate those kind of sayings "fuck off to hillsborough" "I smell pork" etc etc.

I don't smell pork, because it's not hard to find Blades that share similar sentiments. But, although you can understand the frustration a bit, it's just too simplistic. It also ignores the countless bids we've made over the last month or two, it ignores the ten or so players we've brought in since promotion, it ignores the fact that we've a team ethos that relies on its cohesion and spirit, which would be threatened with the addition of overpaid and overpriced journeymen, and it ignores the fact that Wilder has repeatedly stated that he's been backed by the board.

I don't smell pork, just the well-meaning but misplaced frustration of a Blade. I'm sure we've all been there!

We did our business early, strengthened in certain areas. Maybe it would have been better if Stevens had cost £2m, instead of the peanuts that we gave. Same result we have a quality lwb but the board have shown more ambition.
Transfer Day is a day for Sky and Agents. We haven't sold anyone and we haven't panicked and paid over the top in both fee and salary. I'm happy

Don't think listening to CW interview we can plant today's event at McCabes door other than he won't spunk money over the odds to buy a promotion side. If he was at fault Tuffty would have said so.
That said, in he long term he ain't got the funds to play the next phase of the game and after years of trying to get others to put up the cash while he retains control have been fruitless.
It seems pretty obvious to fans the 'sheik yer pockets empty' has lost interest for whatever reason, he's never here, his agents never speak and McCabe never mentions they met or spoken to my knowledge. The big links with other clubs once again have been fruitless and the razzmatazz of our American friend has settled back to good old stadium atmosphere.
Think we are in for a period of scrapping out results with the resources of a mediocre club while massive consortiums take on the likes of Barnsley. One thing is for sure the money in the game is not going away so we either join in or become an also ran club in the long term.
Food for thought the day after transfer deadline. Just imagine how Cole and Quina et al feel this morning, how would you feel if your promotion was blocked and you were expected to work harder to try to get it in 5 months or sit in the office training for a job with no opening. This 'no loans' must be killing the youths in football.

Say what you like about the opening poster being a pig etc but his opening statement is 100% right, weve got the manager but we need owners that want to give it a go.

If Billy Sharp breaks his leg in the next game we will more than likely be relegated this season whereas with decent backing we could be realistically looking at a top 6 finish

If we are to get anywhere in the next few years McCabe has to sell up along with the fake sheikh.

This window was the perfect opportunity to show a bit of ambition. Nothing crazy just the opportunity to back wilder and see what he can do with a bit of sensible investment. Considering we've received 6/7 million in sales.

And we have spent nothing we've made a profit of 4/5 million. McCabe please leave

Would love to see the actual accounts.

a man after my own heart, all these happy clappers make me laugh, we should be gratefull for not selling our best players? what ? where the fuck is the money made from the sell on clauses?, again he has proved he has zero ambition, Wilder knows it and wont put up with this shit for long.... a few injuries then we can revist this thread, until then its done, we know where we are now. The Clayton Donaldson was a panic buy as back up for Leon... hes 33 injury prone and we needed pace...

Yes totally agree let's see if McDonald's would like to come back and bring his crooked mates with him at least with the McCabe family we can sleep at night knowing our club is safe. I do think they would like to sell up but they won't sell to any Tom dick or Harry because they love the club just as much as any one of us

I'm actually not that bothered that we've not brought anyone in; a striker would have been nice but not the end of the world.

It does make me laugh though, the "you can't force teams to sell" comments coming from the same people who trot out the "when bigger teams come in, you haven't got a choice" mantra.

We have signed a striker

The lunatics have taken over the asylum again. It's the same every Jim White Day, however badly or well the club happens to be doing. Self-entitled; self-satisfied, pitifully ignorant single-cells who store up vitriol for weeks and months in preparation and boy, do they make the most of it.

Tales told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Or maybe people just want to express their option on a FORUM, same as you are doing now, pot, kettle comes to mind... btw I respect ur opinion..

We don't know how much money McCabe / Prince were willing to back Wilder with, so it seems daft to slag off the owners on the basis of pure speculation. For all we know, deals that fell through involved significant investment.

That said, it is frustrating in that we are sitting in 5th place and with some good investment in quality in the right areas, could be knocking on the door of the Premier League for next season. That is the prize and we should be moving heaven and earth to grab it.

In terms of investment we have also got Coutts, Fleck, Freeman and Billy to sign new and longer contracts. That's as good if not better than signing new players as they are all proven performers for our team. Imagine if we had lost Coutts or Fleck? How would you replace them? Would cost a fortune and not easy to find players of that quality.
I am not that bothered about loosing out on the two loan deals. It means Brooks is more likely to get game time. I know he is thought of as a number 10 but I see him coming on for last 30 minutes and playing virtually as a striker. With his pace and dribbling ability I can see him being a really potent player for us and contributing a few goals. I see us spending more money in the JTW when we know more about where we are and what areas need strengthening and hopefully we can even get Leonard for not a lot of money.

Hahahah ok mate so your happy with the board of your club showing 0 ambition , we should have spent money without the incoming sell ons. We have made 4/5 mill this transfer window.
Looks like McCabes happy to ride the wilder wave and show that he doesn't have to invest in the team.

And no I'm not asking for a boom or bust transfer spending just a few decent up and coming signs to show we're ambitious in the championship. WE HAVE SPENT NOTHING
Maybe it's my memory, but Deadline days in the past seemed to consist of 2 parts - first, hope desperately that none of our better players would actually be sold and second, that sometime in the transfer window, someone, somewhere, would mention that Sheffield United Football Club had actually BOUGHT someone (anyone!)

I can't remember ever being involved in so many deals on and around deadline day.
Outcome maybe not as good as hoped - but an improvement on last 128 years!

yes McCabe do one, this transfer window has seen Neymar, Mbappe, Matic, Ox, Walker etc all transferred and not one bid for any of these.
we've also seen the recent success buying big money players for millions has brought to our truffle hunting neighbours, yet no bid for Jordan Rhodes.
you try to baffle us with your mumbo jumbo about "backing our manager", "only buying players that fit the team ethic", yet what success did this bring last season?
personally i like to pay over the odds for things, i recently bought a 10yr old Mondeo, paid £15grand for it. It really impressed people when i turned up at 1055pm bragging about how much id paid, some say I've been had, but i think I'm big time, I've spent a lot.

FOR.FUCK.SAKE.

The game is changing almost daily. What would have once bought you a detached house wouldn't get you a terrace nowadays. Wendy have splashed the cash in a way that United could never have dreamt about, missed their chance in the last two seasons and now see clubs like Middlesborough and Birmingham leaving them for dead. United can't compete with the big boys, but so what? This morning that applies to Wenger and Klopp.

None of these clubs that have been spending unsustainable sums need worry - the spineless fucks who 'run' our game will ignore the likes of Bolton, QPR, Leicester, Wendy etc. and clobber the likes of Luton and Rotherham.

Shit managers such as Guardiola (and Redknapp + Carvalhal) spend huge sums to mask the fact that they're not very good at their job. The same people who are slating McCabe for not 'backing the manager' would have been delighted if he'd given huge sums to useless lumps such as Clough or Adkins. Thank God he didn't. While United's approach may not be spectacular, it's sustainable. Clubs like Wendy are like watching that sad old tramp in the bookies putting his last fiver into a FOBT. They can waste huge sums on the wages for some no-mark player, but choose to cover a rusty, decrepit stand with a piece of fucking tarpaulin. 'Consilio et animis'? More like 'Fur coat and no knickers'.

I suppose it eventually boils down to what sort of club you want. I am glad we have a Blade as owner, manager and captain. The ground is described, by most other supporters, as a 'proper' ground and the club as a proper club. If the owner doesn't have the money, at the moment, then so be it. The alternative is to have an owner that doesn't 'get' the club. They then spend money and in all likeliness appoint imthefuckingbollicksio, the next best manager, not from in England. I have learned from years in football, be careful what you wish for.

For what must be the 8th or 9th time, can someone provide a link to where the manager says he hasn't been backed or that he's unhappy/frustrated with the boards support in the transfer market?
If not, and nothings been provided so far, then any finger pointing must also be in Wilders direction as what you're saying is you think we needed to bring more players in regardless of their cost. All the evidence out there suggests that the manager disagrees with you. He wanted some targets, he had the backing, but he decided not to play ball at the amounts quoted.

I not that disappointed, but more honesty from the Board would be better. Macabe has made sweeping statements about investment will go up significantly after promotion to the championship etc, we are going to go for it! etc. Be better if the powers that be said were just looking to stay in the divison this year and try our best. When you give out mixed messages to people, thats when the trouble starts. One things for sure, anything above midtable for us this year will be a great achievement.

Had we not received the sell on money, we would've still had to cover the running costs, so the sell on money was merely an added luxury. Considering this, the level of investment this window is understandably being questioned.

We don't know how much our other ten signings cost.....do we?

We're not a league one club anymore we will receive among the highest revenue in the league through gates etc....
I'm not suggesting we throw money at it like Wendy.
But we have shown no ambition with our signings at all.
This is solely down to the prince and McCabe who I'm guessing are more than happy to watch wilder perform miracles.

Do you know how much our other ten signings cost? Have you seen the details of the deals?

slating McCabe for not 'backing the manager'

TBH graf I think the voices slagging McCabe for not 'backing the manager' are now few. He has backed CW (or we would have heard it from CW himself) to the 'best of his ability'. He can't compete with the multi billionaires and the reward for failure amounts of PL money coming into the championship.

Something is going to happen, it can't go on like this, rich clubs, rich players on a million a month vs clubs on the brink of bankruptcy and talented players sat on the sidelines unable to play competitive football until negotiations begin in January.

That's not sustainable!

So, the point is we did spend, but not enough? we only brought in a whole team of players, but not enough? we could get season ending injuries to key players who we havn't got a ready made replacement for. Mcabe is a saviour but a tight wad. We have millions lying around but did not see fit to chuck it about. All agents are toads. All players are greedy. We are all wendies pretending to be Blades?our club costs nothing to run and all transfer and ticket money is spare cash. Every other poster has the wrong opinion?I wish I had not spent the last few days glued to the internet and Sky sports. This transfer window stuff is a real pain. Did we sell any of our assets for knock down prices? have we got any promising youngsters nearly ready for the first team?
Some teams have made massive gambles on managers and players(Birmingham) which could seriously backfire, or not.
Real world, realistic ambition. let's just see shall we.
