Sid Little and ?
Was that Port Vale at home in Heaths last game?
Kinell, I was there, same school same time!Used to go to Western Road/Westways school, (68 - 74) Western Road is a lovely old tree lined Road, that hasn't changed much since it was built.
I only found out recently that the trees are actually a war memorial, each tree commemorates an ex pupil that was lost to the horrors of WW1, so pulling them down is actually destroying part of our history.

Not that tall but a great header of the ball was our Gill.

He uses to smile a lot and as I recall he used to go blush like a beetroot if he let a goal in. Anybody else remember that? What a player. Not only makes the save, but does it with a smile on his face.![]()
A staple for the old Christmas shopping spree!

There's actually a few of the tree lined roads that were planted as memorials, but what do lives matter when there's money to be made by chopping them down!!!!"Fuck the 67 former pupils killed in the trenches #gerrumallchoppeddown". Brian Lodge, sandwich shop owner and Labour Councillor 2017

That was the expected team for the 1925 FA Cup final but Tommy Boyle took Tommy Sampy's place
I haven't lived in Sheffield for several years, but still get back frequently, so still try to keep abreast of local affairs.A few weeks ago Amey dug up the damaged footpath round a tree on Weston Road to show how the roots had caused the damage. Someone forgot to tell the contractors and after exposing the "offending" roots resurfaced the footpath perfectly level. Still going to be chopped down though. It's called Lodgeonomics, (conning Sheffield taxpayers for the benifit of Spanish shareholders).
No self respecting skin or suedehead would wear yellow trousers.

Recently I've taken two friends for a tour of my home city, neither had been before & the main comment from both of them was how nice it looks because of the trees.
When I explained that the council have decided to let a private contractor cull them, for no obvious reason (other than profit), neither could believe the stupidity.

Robby ...War Graves Commission have approved the current approach to the strategy to these trees."Fuck the 67 former pupils killed in the trenches #gerrumallchoppeddown". Brian Lodge, sandwich shop owner and Labour Councillor 2017
A wee bit too young for the skinsIs the discussion about original skinheads and mods or the late seventies early eighties revivalists?
Thanks Robby Blade, I'll have a read of that when I have a quiet morning at work.
This site has some good info & a few before & after photos..
STAG
Just a thought, but we are hijacking the old photos thread here.I joined STAG after the Rustlings Road debacle where pensioners were arrested for standing in their own gardens looking on.
Been an active member since. I was threatened with arrest a few times, on the say so of Sheffield City Council, AKA The Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire, for breaking a Tory Anti Trade Union Law. Ironic or what.
STAG are not any old protest group, led by very intelligent people who are not fooled by the lies, untruths and blatant spin of a sandwich shop proprietor. One who had to resign his council seat because he didn't pay his business rates only to be reinstated because, as a true politician, he'd made a honest mistake.
The whole sorry mess has been caused by an incompetent cabal, hiding behind a totally one sided secret contract where a Spanish PLC is receiving £2.2 billion of our money by doing as they see fit. Cutting down perfectly healthy trees purely for profit is not on. And...dont even ask about disappearing street lights, York stone paving, granite kerbs etc.

I'm only on my phone now, but I'll log on my PC tomorrow evening & start a separate thread about this, there's a lot of interesting observations, the subject deserves it's own space.
