Brooks so far

Personally I expect us to sign a striker before deadline day and for him to leave on loan to play regularly.

No chance, he's an important first team option now and is the biggest direct threat we've got. He'll be in our squad every time he's available. There's nothing to say we'll only ever play with one attacking midfielder either - if we play with 2 or 3 then it would be stupid not to have him available. And it's not like Duffy and Carruthers are convincing at this level. If he leaves it will be permanently, and we'll hear all the usual shit.

Quality young player, starts against Leicester for sure, next TC hopefully because we've been waiting a bloody long time!

Brooks is the type of player who automatically gets doubled up on which he'll have to get used too but that will also free up space in other areas of the pitch for someone else to exploit which could mean we have the opportunity to play with one up top, with a player either side of him more than I first thought. I think it's a great option to have.

I'll make a bold prediction.

Brooks will be Louis Reed mark 2, get a few starts, few sub appearances, then back with the kids, then farmed out to a league two side only to be released a year later.

All about opinions and here's my prediction........................it's the opposite of yours

The lad has got what it takes to have a great career in the game He is the one young lad who actually excites me when he runs with the ball at the opposing defence. Yes his decision making isn't spot on, but that will come with experience. After all he's only had a handful of cameo roles. Give him time and for me he will be the opposite of how you see his career going

He must however continue to work hard, but if it's correct what the management have said about his attitude, then it's onwards and upwards to Brooks

Am i the only one that's not that impressed?

He seems to rather shoot than look for a pass and more often than not takes 1 or 2 players on then loses it because he gets too excited/confident. On Saturday he had a perfect chance to square it to Ched who was unmarked in the center of the box. When Ched had a word after Brooks didn't seem interested.

Obviously Wilder will be onto him about that because he's young, but it shows he still has a lot to learn.
Wouldn't go as far as "not impressed" but he he's definitely over hyped.

He still has a way to go before he is a Championship footballer, but he has the attributes to get there.

As people say "in Wilder we trust"

You think there's a possibility we'll choose to release him. Wow. That's staggering.

Go on then, what's he lacking that's going to prevent him having a decent Championship level career at the very least?

My bold prediction: He'll play for England

Because he's got the ability and the mentality, and will only improve physically.

He needs a consistent string of starts in my view.

Hard to show what you've got if you're only coming off for the bench for 10 minutes here and there.

As I've said so very often, what he (or any other player) needs is utterly immaterial. Sheffield United's needs are what matter.

We ❤️ Game Time.

I'd be far more impressed if he played for a national team of some consequence...

That I'll give you.

But I can name a few players that did a few things on the big stage and then slowly went down to the bottom. Macheda anyone?! I just think people are getting carried away, atm.

They are indeed. We had the height of lunacy on Saturday when someone suggested he would turn down £150m. I've used my influence to book him in at Wathwood.

That said, I'm very impressed with the lad. He's a real talent. Privately though, I have a dilemma. Part of me wants to see a lot more of him but at the back of my mind I want us to sell so I can go red in the face and abuse the chairman. I don't know what to think. It's so hard.

Looks quick and skillful but looks like he's forcing it a bit at the moment. Beats a man with his quality and then gets a rush of blood.

Bags of potential but not enough there yet to put him ahead of any of the other 4.

He looks the proper business, bit of a swagger at the moment, but don't worry, we'll soon coach that out of him,we're English after all !

I don't think you're being serious about this - but just in case you are, I'll have a hundred quid on it, whatever odds you're laying.

You also need to think about your position on the 'gerrimin' and 'giveemallarun' issues.

A clear academy success straight into the first team could put Pinchynomics under some pressure. The words 'hat', 'eat' and 'my' could be dusted down for you to savour.

Perhaps it would be best for all if the lad just turns out to be a total failure and we release him to Denaby Main in two years time?

Will go on the top of the game, if he avoids serious injury. I think we have to be careful nurturing him.Teams rarely play midfield players in a free role, they are actually required to do a tremendous amount of work off the ball these days (see Duffy). Its probably the second most physical position behind the wing back role. I think he'll be in and out of the team, unless we go to five midfielders and he is given license to just focus on attacking.Nice quandary to have

Well whatever occurs, good luck to the lad.

Woah!, Woah!! and thrice Woah!!!.. Denaby don't want or need any failures.... They have more than enough, Thank You...??

Similar to his position on the fans 'spending someone elses money'. He calls them out, yet he doesn't want youngsters given a chance, or players from lower divisions with average records coming to the club.

Which begs the question, how does he expect the club to progress?

I thought Duffy was excellent v the dingles (between him and Enda for MOTM for me) and has generally been very good whenever he’s pulled our shirt on. But we know he tires around the 65-70 minute mark and Brooks is ideal to bring on to mix things up a bit.

Agreed. Not quite a starter yet but bags of potential and a very handy sub to be able to bring on. The shirt is Duffy’s to lose for me but given that he never completes 90 minutes, Brooks is ideal on the bench.
