I saw his cameo on the telebox vs 'boro and listened to his cameo vs Cardiff yesterday. TBH I didn't see him do much vs 'boro (although I was quite distracted by my dad throughout the game), and radio comms, as I heard them, didn't highlight much good or bad play particularly.

So let me ask those who saw him on both occasions - are we still happy he'll deliver on the pre-season promise? I hope so.

Was very good when he came on yesterday...slick passing, good movement , made a chance and made the keeper make a good save....confident player, good on the ball, can see the next pass early on...I thought he was quality

I didn't see both games so that rules me out I suppose. But from what I've seen he's a special talent. A bit lightweight yet but what he loses out on in terms of physical strength he makes up for with skill and ....

and....

and....

PACE!

That which we have not a lot of. So get him in the team from me.

I think one of the reasons he hasn't featured is Wilder is trying to keep him under the radar to avoid bids.

I think it wil fail however as I expect him to go on deadline day.

He looked decent last night. We were 2-0 down at that stage but we looked most dangerous while he was on the pitch, along with Evans.

He's better than anyone else we've got with the ball at his feet around the box.

showed enough for me against cardiff that he definitely has the composure and abilty to cut it at this level, just not sure he would be consistent enough yet, but that's the risk with youth. but if your good enough your old enough, and the way he seemed to glide past a few players at ease suggests he believes in himself and i think that will stand him in good stead, too early to say i suppose but i saw enough to see he has great ability

Club's will already know about him like they did with lookman who went Everton, what is it with bleeding Everton

Ah that might explain Fleck and some of the other players performances.
I can't wait for the window to close then so we can start putting 100% effort in again

Needs to go to Chesterfield on loan, because he won't get in the team when Coady starts training. :)

No one would like to see a truly talented player go elsewhere to develop his career.
But if we could get proper money for him from a PL club - and I don't mean the small change we got from Hull , Brum & Everton - he might have to be sacrificed to bring in 2 or 3 who can keep us up.
Like the strategy for last season's promotion.

He looked a class above anyone on the pitch when he came on against Cardiff. His reading of the game, ability to ghost past plays and an eye for passing into dangerous areas makes him an absolute nightmare for defenders.

Destined to play in the Premier League, hopefully we can keep hold of him until the next window.

Needs to start this weekend.

Brooks/Duffy/Carruthers - so far Carruthers is in the chair but isn't nailing down the shirt, Brooks is young and exciting but for me is more of an impact player right now, may be wrong but I can see him getting lost in games at this level when we aren't in possession. Duffy would be my pick, works hard and can create chances with neat passing, movement and intelligence.

He's looked promising yes but hasn't played enough yet to make a fair judgement. I wonder if its deliberate that were aren't really using him so far, so he isn't in the shop window?

I believe it is his speed of thought, reaction and action that make him stand out. He is a Prem player in the making but needs game time here before he steps up.

I was at Cardiff last night. Both Brooks and Ched gave us a bit more when they came on.

Brooks in particular showed his ability to make defenders back pedal and go beyond them. I think there are a couple of reasons why Wilder isn't starting him just yet but personally I think it's time to give him a run of starts. We looked more of an attacking threat when those two came on.

It helped that when he came on Cardiff had decided to shut up shop....some nice touches and control, sure he's got something but he needs to fill out and play a few more games before Tony Currie loses his crown

Was at both games.

Only one for me last night I thought could/would take on their midfield and attack and get through.

Get him starting Saturday. Give the team a lift from the off.

Am i the only one that's not that impressed?

He seems to rather shoot than look for a pass and more often than not takes 1 or 2 players on then loses it because he gets too excited/confident. On Saturday he had a perfect chance to square it to Ched who was unmarked in the center of the box. When Ched had a word after Brooks didn't seem interested.

Obviously Wilder will be onto him about that because he's young, but it shows he still has a lot to learn.

I think so.

For a slight 19 year old lad to glide past experienced championship defenders like they are not there, takes some doing. Even when hefty centre halves wee pushing him off the ball, he still got through.

Okay some of his decision making was poor but than can be changed. His pace and willingness to run at them was refreshing and I think you are being a miserable old sod here.

Not so much miserable, I'm not calling for him to be dropped or anything like that. I just feel the overhype he is getting around these forum is very Diegoesque, that turned out bad.. all this talk of us wrapping him in cotton wool is a little bit silly.

His awareness was far better for England over the summer.

How many goals did he put on a plate for the piglet?

He's scored a worldy against Chesterfield and against Prem opposition.

In those 2 games he's already achieved more than Diego has in his whole career.

I think the "problem" at the moment (and the same with Evans) is the desire, nay desperation almost, to bag the first league goal.
I'm sure if he already had a couple on the board he'd have been looking to set others up when he has chance rather than go for glory every time.
It's all there save for game time, he'll be some player when he has experience as well.

That I'll give you.

But I can name a few players that did a few things on the big stage and then slowly went down to the bottom. Macheda anyone?! I just think people are getting carried away, atm.

Yes

He seems to rather shoot than look for a pass.

Shame the rest don't do that at the top end - our biggest failing is holding on to the ball and losing it.

Ched & Billy shoot early - defender's not ready, keeper's not ready. Coutts and Duffy in particular hold on too long in the last third, where it really matters. If Brooksy shoots first and asks questions later then long may it last. [/QUOTE]

Personally I expect us to sign a striker before deadline day and for him to leave on loan to play regularly.

Absolute shit, what a disappointment, he doesn't even RIP open his shirt to reveal a blue lycra onesy with an 'S' on the front!!
Can't believe all the hype!!??

Nothing to see here, move along please!!!!!
