According to Sky? pure guess work that. not that I'm complaining that they have it wrong lowers the pressure on us

As I've said on other threads, I think the players still here from last season deserve a shot at the Champ.

The players we've brought in seem good value buys and hopefully we'll land two or three more before deadline day. ( maybe 'bigger' buys)

Give it ten or so games and we'll know a bit more about how we're shaping up in this league.

UTB!

One or two loans might be on the agenda towards the end of the window, once the Prem clubs know what they're doing with their squads.

We should have some money in the bank so we won't have a problem getting the loans in, I'm looking forward to who we're going to take a punt on.

Baht r8.

Wilder seems to be eying up considerably more expensive targets, so I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the window it was closer to 3 or 4.

Did we not all expect, and predict as such, though?

At the end of last season the almost universal thought amongst Blades was that we'd bring in mostly prospects from league 1 and 2, along with a couple of established Championship players. We were pretty happy with that thought.

Stevens, Thomas, Baldock and Lundstram fit well into the former. Then Ched, but I wouldn't put that signing in that bracket.

Stearman is the Championship experience, and our targets recently seem to be geared towards the same.

It's all turned out pretty much how we expected.

£1m is pathetic to be fair. We really have fallen behind so many clubs in terms of spending power - many of them much smaller than us. I guess that's why all our business so far has been squad fillers rather than the 2 or 3 quality players we need.

The thing is we haven't spent £1m at all!
We've made 5 from walker and what 1.5 from maguire so we'be made 5 Mill. We should be spending what we've got from that then spending 3/4 million what the majority of teams who come up and are ambitious.
When Wigan came up they spent a fair bit without money in and so did Bristol city with Kodja.
Fair enough live within our means , but we have the money so spend it McCabe

For he record I'd be confident it's a fair bit more than that. Stearman alone cost more than a £1m did he not?

Also they only count transfer fees spent, not the rest. They had Preston down as spending £0 last season.
They still finished in the top 12.

I have to say I'm not a fan of our recruitment so far but hopefully things will change before the window shuts. I'm not entirely convinced that the reason we haven't spent more is because Wilder didn't want to, let's put it that way.

Well we still think selling our youngsters for circa 1 to 2million is good business.

The prices of players in the Championship has doubled since we were last here and we need wake up to that fact. Even the bang average Championship dross we used to sign when were last in this division has doubled in price.

We will have to spend a little bit more if we want to avoid a relegation scrap.

Even more pathetic when an additional £7 million in sell ons has been brought in.

But hey, this is United.
If there's a cheap way of doing it we'll do it, and when our couple of good players want to leave to better themselves it will be a disaster

But wait until the window closes, there's still 3 week yet.

the reason we aint spent more is bids have been rejected, we currently have offers of 4.5m in give or take a few quid, if those had been accpted our spending would already have been at 7m, so clearly funds are been made available

ffs how many more times, its more than a million spent already, and with bids in its around 7m so far made available, but i guess admitting the facts doesn't suit your agenda

Are you simple or just on the wind up ?
We've been the divisions biggest spenders for years.
Paid 1.5 mil on a right back, that kind of ambition is quite rare in league 1.

This Summers spending hasn't finished.
Are you going to apologise on here when we splash the cash?
Bet you don't, if we spend 2 million you'll say it should be 4 million
If we spend 4 million you'll say it should have been 8 million.

And how much has come in due to sell on clauses?

and how much have we lost after 6 seasons in league one? oh and then there is ffp which you guys who like to moan at every opportunity always seem to ignore, we have had six years of lower income, where do you think the money is going to come from, at current with transfers done and bids in we have tried to spend every penny we have recieved in fees for dcl, harry and walker, but as stated before if we spent 7m you would want 10, and thats before taking into account wages for all the new boys

The money didn't come from gate receipts.
Although we've had good crowds, admission prices have been kept at reasonable levels.
We've paid players £10 per week wages, a salary level other league 1 clubs dream about.
I've known fans of other league 1 teams saying we're the Man City of league 1 and think we can buy our way out of it.

Even I wouldn't dream of being paid £10 per week
