Reading up on the lad, Joshua Bohui sounds like a good prospect. Has pace, and 3 international teams battling for his allegiances.

Wolves would be a stupid loan move for him.

If he's going on loan I'd like to think we've got a chance but if he's going permanently, forget it.

Alan Nixon saying Wolves will pay £8m for him but Southampton want even more.

Ah. Southampton demanding absolute top dollar for every player they sell. What a bunch of cunts they are.

Thing is Sean, if they get top dollar can you blame 'em? It's the complete opposite of our servile selling mode where we often seem content to accept a valuation that mystifies many Blades.

Think you kinda missed my sarcasm there mate. Thats exactly what my post was about.

'Kinell, you're asking far too much of an old fucker if you don't add a smiley!

Seriously, in complete agreement and you've got to admire the fact that every time they have a young 'un with a modicum of potential they seem to get £10 mil as a bottom line figure.

I am hoping that we have the same mentality from now on (meaning Mr McCabe), and young David Brookes might be the test.

Sorry mate. I'll try and remember in future, but I'll probably forget. Gettin on a bit missen.:) Remembered this time.

Hope so too fella. Thing is, being in the Championship probably adds a cache to a player's valuation, so a new young 'un, who many fans aren't familiar with, but who the grapevine seems to escalate their value, may see us put a value on young Brooks' head that puts us in more favourable territory value-wise. Time will tell, but the feeling I get is that Brooks is dedicated to making his mark with us in the immediate future.

Most of it is just bullshit though
Football clubs, especially Premier League clubs are so stuffed with money and stupidity that you can ask for anything

In fact putting a £10 million price tag on a youngsters head is a sure fire way of getting them interested

They'd have to come and see what all the fuss is about, and if the player just so happened to play well..............Kerching !!!!

Heard yesterday this was a possibility. Maybe Clarkes ban will accelerate movement in this area be it Gallagher or someone else.

If he doesn't go permanently it'll still take a massive loan fee. Not a possibility for us now Wolves and Derby are interested.

Wilder has a very good relationship with Soton.
The managers of Derby and Wolves don't know where it is.

He might do, but they'd still have to do us a massive favour because we won't pay a big loan fee like Wolves and probably Derby would.

Apparently they want £15m for him to leave permanently now! And we thought £7m was mad. Shows what happens as soon as rich clubs show interest. And when £15m fees become normal in the Championship.

£15m is cheap by Sotons standards. They are up there with Barcelona when it comes to getting absolute top dollar for their prize assetts.

We would be better off looking at other options this kid is out of our price range this season at 7 million let alone 15 million. There are strikers in the divisions below pulling up tree's like marquis and Mandeville and keifer moore who are not out of our price bracket. There is also Johnson clarke Harris who has a lot of natural gifts including pace and height but a questionable attitude if wilder can tame him! (Warne certainly couldn't) & let's not forget Marcus maddison. Let's not delude ourselves into thinking we can spend 5 mill on a striker another 3 on a midfielder and another 2 on a centre back and pay wages accordingly! I would love us to be able to but it's not realistic

Think me an thee are some of the first to realise it's all about the MONEY now. Things have changed since we were at this level 6 years ago and it takes as much if not more brass to build a team than it did when McCabe failed to invest when we got int 't PL.
McCabe thinks he's got a new value for money jockey like Colin in CW building a team on fresh air to win by grinding a result out week in week out. But we only need to look at Colin's spending at his subsiquent clubs to understand it's all changed.

Agree Marquis might have been worth a punt.

Maddison could still be worth signing. I know we've got Brooks but Maddison would give us a great option, he'd be ideal alongside Brooks supporting one central striker. If there aren't many strikers in the sub £2m category who we could sign then it could be an idea to spend it on an attacking midfield goalscorer instead, and maybe loan a striker. If we sell Brooks, I'd definitely bring Maddison in.

I think we should have considered his team mate at Peterborough, Jack Marriott. 22 year old striker who they signed from Luton, good ability, can run with the ball, create for himself and has scored 5 in his last 2 games. He's a bit like Shaun Miller. Started scoring at a reasonable rate last season (12), although not prolific. Fancy him to kick on now and get towards 20 in L1. Remember reading that his family are Blades fans too.

Also think Isaac Vassell who Luton sold to Birmingham might have been ideal for us. Then there's Ollie Watkins who I think will prove to be worth the £2m or so Brentford have paid.

There aren't many suitable strikers out there but there are always some. Sometimes you've got to get in early.

Absolutely mate.
It's about finding those young hungry players with huge potential sell on value along with some proven ability to keep momentum going in the right direction.
Using Brooks as an example,I am certain if he was at St Marys bidding would start in excess of £10m.

he would probably start week in week out for us. We are a stable club and if the point of a loan is to get your player game time infront of some good crowds, we are a good option, not just for Gallagher but for many premier league youngsters.

Totally agree with the logic but I think loans has become a sideline to make more money. I heard an interview with Harry Rednap re getting young player loans into Birmingham and they were demanding £20,000 wages and if the kid doesn't play they have to pay double. I understand (though it was a couple of years ago) Chelsea have over 30 kids out on loan around Europe.

Would be an ideal loan signing imo, and from a Southampton pov he's most likely to get regular game time here - not least because we actually play with 2 forwards.

Feel it's unlikely with the other reported interest but he's one that would certainly improve us.

Wilder has links down there and his reputation hes building over the last few years surely means we are a safe bet to send your young players.
