I sincerely hope you move on. Leonard is vital for us in the midfield. Personally hope we keep him. I also think it's great that we can hold onto players when bigger loftier clubs come calling. Lots of other league 1 clubs would have folded by now. Oxford have caved in quite quickly!

After tonights Millers friendly, I'm a little concerned about our front line

Lavery did well when he came on, but where the goals are coming from to make us competitive I'm not so sure

Lundstram and Leonard yes by all means, but neither contribute much in terms of goals. We need a proven striker up top I think

As I've said before: He's Gone Ron Ron Ron; He's Gone Ron Ron.

We're in the end game now. Toupées simply don't get the better of squirrels. There is a natural world order.

yes our bench tonight looked thin in most departments tonight. It is my main concern going into the championship season. No strength and depth. If Hanson and Evans carnt get fit, I'm afraid he needs to offload them both. We don't have the millions some teams seam to have so as Wilder has said, we need to make sure we get the right players in. Ones that can start football matches

So looks like we're still interested

We'll remain interested and he's going to be a Blade. We want it: Lenny wants it. It will happen. The only question is how much dosh that silly fucker RugRon is prepared to lose. I predict Lenny will be here before the end of August and cap-doffing Blades will finally realise that we've played this perfectly and RugRon is a laughing stock; not an icon.

It's a long season. Players will move in and out of fitness over the next nine months. Your fears are premature. It's the Bladesfans' Way.

I've had two bottles of red tonight and I'm still the most cogent thinker amongst the madmen. We have strength in depth already and that will be further enhanced by the time it matters.

Goals will come from all over the park like last season, but I agree we need one more.

Too much reliance on Sharp, the other 4 have injury issues consistently, like last season, we need Sharp to stay fit, and his partners will change from game to game.

Do you think we would get good value trying to sell players when they're injured?

Moore and Baldock are injured. Do we need to offload them as well?

That's really quite surprising if so. I'm sure that won't have been part of the initial plan.

Wilder would have his hands full keeping everyone involved and happy.

One concern of mine is where would this leave Ben Whiteman?

Lundstram seems like a sensible investment but the most suitable idea for me would be to just sign Leonard with a view to bringing Whiteman back in January, after he's probably been Donny's best player.
Leonard's more of a solid type, we need one of them. Lundstram's more of a ball player, we have 2/3 of them and Whiteman's another.

Whiteman probably won't be in the equation for Utd this season and I expect him to be at Donnie for the duration.

Utd should get both Leonard and Lundstram if deals can be struck as they are different types of midfielders and both would enhance the team/squad. Come next season and with football being very fluid, one of our existing midfielders might have moved on and/or one of Leonard or Lundstram might have gone elsewhere for first team football. Then Whiteman might get his chance at that stage. Alternatively, Whiteman might not progress as much as expected this season and not be up to scratch in a years time. Who knows how it will play itself out?

We should plan for the here and now though and whilst I would like to see Whiteman play for us in the long term, short term he isn't ready yet and we need more options in midfield now.

People would be saying Brooks isn't ready yet if he didn't happen to get his chance to play in these friendlies. And Whiteman's older and has played more league football than Brooks.

We've also got to think about the situation with Whiteman long term. If we leave him there for the full season he won't have long left on his contract when he comes back, and if he does well there might be a tonne of interest in him and we might struggle to get him on a new one.
We should be sorting his contract now but if not then January at latest, and being involved with our first team would give us our best chance. Everybody else is keenly protecting their assets, we need to start committing to doing the same.

Do you think the stumbling block is that Ron wants all the cash to be paid in 2p's?

Too much complacency on here. Ched will be on and off injured all season and Hanson is a big lump. That leaves Sharp and Clarke with Lavery as back up, anyone who thinks that is enough firepower is deluded as the likelihood of Freeman and the Hat scoring as many this season as last is very small.

We deffo need a proven striker

Last night at NYS endorced that opinion

So can someone break down this 120 page thread into a paragraph for me?

I don't want to waste time reading the drivel.

evans was a gamble from the start, that is looking like a mistake. Hanson wont score goals, which is what we need. And you know what I mean!

Wilder confirmed interest in Leonard in early June.
Southend have rejected 3 bids.
Player wants to join Utd.
Clubs still talking.
Wilder expects to get Leonard before the window closes.
The end...for now.

Can you explain why it looks like a mistake?
Also....I'm sure you realise Hanson isn't about scoring goals himself, and don't need that pointing out to you.

So you believe we need a 20goal a season, championship minimum standard striker? Well that's a relief, I'm sure nobody at the club has been looking for one of those "in our budget"
I mean, they are ten a penny after all.

So sarcasm aside, perhaps the manager is having to look at other options rather than just rocking up and paying £5m plus for that striker. Tactics, and changing style will all play a part until he does find that particular player we can afford, becomes available for loan, or even until the player already at the club in that bracket gets match fit! And that all comes back around to where players like Hanson come in!

Evans was a gamble we could afford. He will play, he will get fit.
