Incoming? Darragh Lenihan

Lenihan is a bit like Bash and plays DM or defence.

Signing him could cover 2 signing targets.

Leonard is a more box to box, athletic type than we have. Would allow us to change things up, scores a few goals and can put a foot in. Don't be deluded and think Coutts and Fleck are going to run it like they did last year.

Lenihan at 5mil may be steep but the Venkys have a track record of getting what they want. See The sales of Cairney, Rhodes, Gestede, Duffy and Hanley for proof of that.

So you're suggesting we don't trust our manager but you think we'd better off missing out on his main targets? Brilliant logic that mate.

How many times have you seen Leonard play? (serious question)

I'd never seen his name mentioned on here before this rumour came up.

I don't think anyone has to be accused of being a pig....but it is very tiresome, dull and often repetitive listening to some folk lose their shit over rumours on the internet, and slagging off the club at every claimed failure or perceived "lack of ambition"

We have folks going spare because we haven't signed a player at whatever cost from southend who it seems nobody else is that bothered about.... Who if we were honest isn't better than what we already have.
And we have Ricky slamming our negotiation team for this fella because we are offering derogatory fees (allegedly) for players whose value (allegedly) is massively higher!! Even though that massive figure has been plucked (see what I did there) from god knows where by the single biggest example of a chicken shit football club owner the Venkys!!

Its melodramatic and bordering on infantile....squeem and squeem till I am sick!!

Jesus wept....has nobody remembered what happened with some of Wilders targets last season?? I recall the club were called out in the same way for letting a mega star go to Peterborough over us, with the same accusations, demands and over reactions evident.

Get a bloody grip and trust the manager

Bit of adversity we were always on the front foot in people's faces. Now it's a meltdown at the whiff of some no-mark twitter feed.

No one has an issue with proportionate and constructive criticism, but when a thread showing encouragement about a 9-0 victory / Brooks's potential turns into "he'll never play a first team game for us / we'll sell him for £500k / McCabe is a etc etc", it's tedious. I think after a landmark season when everything worked well at SUFC from top to bottom, the management and the club deserve the benefit of the doubt moving forward.

We aren't going to spend £5-£10 million on a player, the only way we'll succeed is if everyone buys into what Wilder is doing. Leaping on the back of any hiccup or setback is counterproductive. We need to be more United than ever.

It's tedious when threads like the Brooks one is hijacked but it takes two to tango. If people ignored the comments like 'he'll never play for us' and just continued with the relevant discussion these posts would just be little comments rather than a full blown repeat of a debate that's spread over about five different threads. Every time someone argues with one of these posts they just give the poster an excuse to perpetuate their comments.

Foxy, Please put this on permanent display...

Home and away last season, the season before that and numerous seasons before that. Admittedly only started taking notice of him last year even though I'd heard his name before.

He impressed me a lot at home and away, along with Wordsworth. He's different to what we have, he'd be a good signing.

But I aren't the one assuming these are his main targets. You are.

Truth is we don't know, and instead of leaving it at that some would rather castigate the club and assume these are the top targets and his game changer players.

I happen to think differently, I see them as squad players, adding little more than we already have but giving us the benefit of being able to make changes to the team and see little change in style or method.

As for blackburn, yes they sold them on for money, but also paid decent money for them all. And do t forget were sold when they were a level higher than they are now.

Why do you keep referring Leonard as CWs main target? When the man himself has said Stearman was the number one target for the summer.

Because he said it in an interview after signing him that's definitely true.

He impressed you away from home in January ?

Southend were comprehensively beaten that game and made to look 2nd best all over the park, very surprised you made that comment,United were magnificent that day ,totally dominated midfield ,we even had the exciting cameo from Samir before he got a knock,so that was Fleck,Coutts,Duffy and Samir Leonard couldn't deal with, maybe Chris was impressed by Leonard keeping on chasing shadows for 90 minutes and thought I like a trier,we need one for when the chips are down

Now who's the one who doesn't trust a Wilder? Southend gave us a game first half, Leonard was a big part of that. Unfortunately he isn't quite good enough to do it all on his own.

It's far more believable and reliable than a dannysufc on a fans forum.
Why do you think an unwanted Richard Stearman would be our main target over an other teams star man? Stearman is a confidence player and that will have done him the world of good but it doesn't mean it's true.

If we were to say 'yeah nice to get him but Leonard is our number one target' his price would shoot up even more.

Switch on.

Crikey. You really are the stereotypical fans forum transfer negotiations expert.

You ignore Wilder. And the facts. Crack on lad.

If you think Southend gave us a game 1st half then you didn't go to the game,I have given a reason why our manager was maybe impressed with Leonard in this game when he was being outclassed, and I would bet a shiny shilling that he has run the rule over him several times, both in person, his scouts, his analysts,he was poor against us at Roots Hall, that is no surprise given the quality of our midfield, but other displays he must have performed much better, hence our interest in him

'The facts' is an incorrect statement as there is literally just one, and that's a quote from the gaffer.

Managers say things that aren't true all the time. It's hardly earth shattering.

I think you've made some valid points on this thread, but all the above is conjecture.

It's not a unreasonable assumption, assumption being the operative word.

The lunatics are mounting a serious attempt to take over the asylum.

I think Foxy ought to put a sanity clause in the membership criteria...

Maybe conjecture but a very reasonable one at that if you ask me.

I happen to think despite what Wilder said in a post signing interview Leonard and Holmes were his main targets this summer. Judging on how early we started and the saga that has ensued since I think it's likely.

My opinion I must add but I certainly don't think a manager telling a mistruth is earth shattering stuff.
