Missed Commerical Opportunities

It's the close season. There's only so much one can say about the game at Stocksbridge and personally I'm so over the Holmes and Leonard soap operas it's untrue. It's a relevant thread to chuck about peripheral yet relevant issues. As we attract bigger crowds of both Blades and away fans any business would look to maximise its income streams therefrom. Complete inability to literally organise a piss up in a brewery is,like it or not a legit target for criticism.
Now bout that fuckung Desso!!!!!!!!

I just wonder why supporters of a football team can get so het up about such a secondary issue. It's like buying car and being happy with the economy, performance and handling but spending all your time moaning that the ashtrays aren't very deep.

I take your point though, so I'll dip out on this thread and go back to being a clapper on the other more footie related threads.
But if you smoke a lot, then surely the ashtrays would be an important issue?

I don't think anyone is suggesting it is the be all and end all, but there is considerable room for improvement, which in the long term would benefit the club and possibly other local businesses. Why would you not want that, despite not participating yourself?

There are times when we are our own worst enemy . A couple of seasons back they trialed a system whereby you bought a ticket for a pint before the game kicked off . At half time you then went to a section at the bar specifically set aside for those who had the ticket . No fuckers used it and just joined the queue to pay whilst whinging about the fact that the service was shit .

Just saying like

They still do vouchers and its a bigger fucking mess than without them, they dont prepour anything so whats the point, last time I got a voucher I had to queue for 20 mins before the game to get it then went 5 mins before half time and joined the mile long voucher queue when the other queues were empty, went to the front of one of the empty ones and he said they couldnt take vouchers so went to the back of the long line, half time finished and I was almost at the front then the same fucktard whod refused my voucher in the other line then said to come over and hed take it now that eveyone else had left, I paid first for fuck sake why wouldnt he take it straight away. People say oh dont blame the staff but they are fucking retards

Anyway Ive tried over and over again to buy a pint of the twats but now just bring in me own tinnies, cheaper, better and no fucking queuing

I keep meaning to send an email to the club about catering.

It's pretty incredible that it takes so long to deal with such a small number of customers.
Surely in this day and age there should be a better system to serve people quicker?
Employ people with brain cells who can do 2 things at the same time.

I think they might have to put buckets and bog roll under every seat if they were to be re-heating KFC or McD's.

OK, I'm not a food technician :), but there must be a way. Almost all pub food - including pubs with a full-blown kitchen - simply reheat grub that is pre-prepared by the supplier.

I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't see the 'bottle boys' back next season on the Kop. Simple, effective idea which maximises profit and eases congestion for the proper queues.

I like a beer at half time. I'm not a huge fan of what's on offer, but it's part of the ritual of going for me and it's nice to get out of the stand for a bit. Been an avid user of the voucher system for years and it was only last season that people actually cottoned on to what it was! Coincided with matches getting busier as a result of us not being as shit, of course. I didn't bother for many games towards the end of last season as it was just a fucking nightmare.

If you're like me and you like a drink/snack at half time, you should be able to get one. It's that simple. There's a difference between a bit of queuing and still not getting what you wanted even though it's 5ish minutes into the second half.

Missed the whole Dave Allen fight, we didn't bother going back for anymore!
We kept looking but even when the queue wasn't very long you saw the same people who only seemed to have moved a foot in half an hour so ended up having zero booze :(

I'd like to see the club negotiate with East Midland trains to get discount day trip prices to watch united games. Could generate more revenue for the club and the train company.

I use

I/we used that nearly every game and still had to queue

The only downside is you cant take or buy any booze on the train if it is a football special which is a shame, I like going away on the train but it is a rip off unless you book in advance, then you run the risk of Sky moving the game to another date or time and screwing you up that way.

One easy option would be to have a row of vending machines selling hot drinks, soft drinks, chocolate, sweets, crisps etc.
That would reduce the queues for people wanting to buy hot food and beer.
It would only require one person to supervise a whole row of machines in case of a breakdown and avoid vandalism.
Re-stock the machines during the first half, so they are ready to go again at half time.

Sounds a good idea but there will no doubt be some 'elf and safety' reasons why this couldn't happen.

Edit - the bottled ales could go in here as well.
