His Royal Tuftyness said on Thursday he was only 16 so this makes it slightly more likely.
Indeed. Now I have this fact available, I'd suggest he's 16, most probably. What I do know is he'll be 17 before September as he's in a year group at school that will all be 17 by the end of August

I presume the last line is a variant on your usual blanket insult for all Blades. You really should stop.

I'll stop when they stop talking bollocks. Deal?

One wise move would be to listen to larkymasher and let Tufty decide when youngsters should have 'game time' which sounds rather like 'play time' in any event.

Trying to force feed players into the team; young or old, simply won't work. At the other end of the spectrum Jake Wright won't feature much next season and we already have plenty of bleating about that. Runaround Done was another.

The forum needs a bit of balance, common sense and truth. That's what I do. You ought to be thankful but it's a labour of love so I can cope with the ingratitude.

You're as ignorant as you are arrogant. I suppose you said the same about giving game time to Walker, Maguire or Naughton. You are correct in saying that the vast majority don't make it. However, there's only one way you can really tell if a player will make it professionally, and that's by giving them game time in professional football. As a club, like it or not, we place emphasis on bringing through our own players. This is evidenced by our spending on the academy, and the players we have subsequently brought through in recent years. In order to keep doing so, we need to provide the young players possessing ability and raw potential with a platform upon which they can start their careers. Granted, they won't be the finished article at first, and might not be as effective as an older pro initially. But with more game time, they can really kick on and become important first team players. And if they outgrow the club, they fund more first team purchases. Don't be shortsighted.

Game time is a Sunday League concept for Sunday League thinkers.

I don't want to drop points for the sake of pleasing young Johnny, his parents and Bladey Boyband Fans.

Luckily neither does ignorant, arrogant Chris Wilder.

There's plenty of game time to be had in the U23s. As I have said many times; young players are here for the benefit of Sheffield United, not the other way around. Like so many things in S2, it really shouldn't have to be said.

Anyone got the slightest clue what the nutjob is talking about?

Did you ever achieve Sunday League? Was it your zenith, old man?

Are you in "strong coffee mode" or "shitfaced after the game" mode, A badge that you seem to think gives you some kudos

Ha. A Sunday League concept? You can't expect a player to go straight from playing on a grass field for the U23s in front of 50 folks to performing under the floodlights at a packed Bramall Lane.

You have to ease them in, even if it costs you a few points here or there. The rewards make it all worthwhile.

Come on, you seem a reasonably intelligent fellow, I suspect deep down you know how this all works.

I'm in "sober enough to use the quote function properly" mode. I recommend it Mr Geeeeeeeetarman.
How come you're not cuddling with the legal secretary? Did she tell you she had a headache again?

No deal, I'm afraid to say. Like many on here, I think, I agree with some of what you write, and consider many other of your views worthy of debate, but this persona you create of being a prophet misunderstood in his time and the only member of this forum capable of understanding the truth pisses people off so much that I/we fail to engage in the debate we would like to have. When challenged on the specifics of the unique stupidity of Blades fans, you do not answer:
1. I challenged you to find a single reference to a member of this forum who likes Wilder's results but not his style of play. No reply.
2. I queried your blanket dismissal of Blades fans in the context of Wilder's status as a Blades fan, and his obvious wish to be seen as one? Is he stupid as well, or hypocritical? No reply.
3. I challenged your general dismissal of our fans' ignorance in terms of asking you to come up with a list of clubs with 'good' fans. No reply. Fans are broadly similar, and my impression is that ours are mostly ok, supportive, loyal, passionate. I go to Villa from time to time (grandkids live in Birmingham); I have been to matches there where there was general booing of individual players as their names were announced, panic in the crowd when inadequate defenders passed it around the back, and thunderous applause for local lads chasing lost causes - only in S2, eh?
Please, drop this rude persona, and debate with us as fellow Blades and forum members.

You've lost your marbles man

I presume the last line is a variant on your usual blanket insult for all Blades. You really should stop. Name us a set of fans of another club who would not like some of their own youngsters to make it through to the first team. What a lift Kane has given to Spurs. It doesn't mean we are all stupid and don't know that the numbers that come through are small; but it does reflect a love of the club and of the area. And do you know what effect Brexit will have on the recruitment of foreign players, and hence the demand for home-grown players?

Don't rise to him mate. Any valid coherent point he does make is diluted by his condescending childish digs at a good proportion of our fans.

.........and our ex-players and managers. Jags, Morgan and Bassett being his regular go-to's when he wants to throw an insult.

You've lost your marbles man

A typical silly response to comments that are so obviously valid that they wouldn't need to be stated anywhere but S2.

Some of you need to decide whether you support Sheffield United or the X Factor. The Bladey obsession with teenage boys is becoming a matter of concern.

compared to his team mates from this view, he already looks like a stylish player ...... black socks no white tape, turned over neatly, worn strictly below the knee - black boots. (adidas X® ?)

I've seen enough ....

Sometimes debate has to be robust. I don't have sufficient time or inclination to explain to Tommy Robinson why his absurd views are a load of bollocks. The hoofers are similarly obtuse I'm afraid.

I've laboured over thousands of words over many years; explaining football philosophy with crystal clarity in terms that would be obvious to an amoeba, but not, sadly, to my unsophisticated, parochial, gerritforrard, upanatem Bassett Boy S2 readership.

I'm not going to rehearse my entire back catalogue every time there is an educational need.

Pele knows I've tried...

And yet you have admitted to celebrating wildly during the Bassett era. Something which I find bizarre from a purist such as yourself. A bit like finding a top French sommelier ripped to his Gallic tits on Special Brew behind the local Bargain Booze.

Sad sick man.

Very happy actually. I hit a measured drive 241 yards yesterday. A good way further than many younger players. Add to that a 200 yard 5 wood and I'm positively joyful.

My football club is doing really well too. We have a manager who knows precisely what he's doing and when is the right time to bring in a player. Young or old; Charnock or Chinese. He's not in a Bladey Boyband Fan Club. He doesn't get carried away at the sight of young lads doing well in friendlies against non-league opposition.

He was the right man at the right time. I've since reflected on the long term damage. It's the benefit of experience and wisdom. It may come to you one day. Don't underestimate its value.

If it was up to you none of the under 20's would get a chance at all cos the gaffer would be accused of 'giving em a run'

Your arrogance is simply a front for the lack of knowledge you display.

Not at all. If they're good enough gerremin. Bladey Boyband Blades miss out the vital prerequisite. Are you afraid of the fact that the vast majority of youth players don't make it in professional football? Come on you under 15s...
Someone whose lad has been released by United told me this was 99%.

And despite your self-declared wisdom, you remain oblivious to the glaring contradiction between the first 2 sentences of your post. How can a man who, in your view, has caused long term damage ever be considered 'right', regardless of 'time'?

My 11 year old hits it further (and straight) with a three quarter swing.
