Can't see how this can happen. We would need Millwall to recall him then loan him to us. That's not great in Millwall is it.

Good player though. Spent most of his time on loan

Looks like a class player and still young. However still only impressed in league 2

I'd be looking at Sam Gallagher first. Although Sunderland are rumoured to be interested.

Whilst Parson Cross and Page Hall are rarely confused for Tahiti, who in their right mind would want to live in Sunderland given a choice, especially as a lad in their early twenties? Unless of course, they throw so much money at him he (or his agent) can't say no....

Not for me. Decent lower league striker that has had his best season. I don't think he's a Championship striker but could be wrong.

Lee Gregory and Sam Gallagher are much better options if available at the right price.

Haha, yeah the wages was my concern in competing with Sunderland, not the housing stock.

Bit like Tahiti ,with a cold wind and crap football team

Would live in Newcastle mate surely.

I thought Ferguson was very hesitant when asked about Marquis on the RS phone in last night. He quickly moved on to talk about another player and didn't return to the question. From this I deduct that Marquis is on his way out of Doncaster Rovers. Whether he is going to Sunderland or another team in red and white stripes a bit closer I don't know, but neither would surprise me.

I hope he doesn't sign for us because that idiot BTB on RS has been saying we should sign him for months (and Ched). So he'll be gloating over the airwaves even more if we do.

A quick look through his career shows we may have interest.

He played for AK at Torquay
He played for CW for a season and half on loan from Millwall.

Issue I have with him is Millwall deemed him not as good for them, CW & AK know the player he is and if he is good enough for the step up.

He's the right type of player to be considering. I'd like to see us sign the Bradford lad who they got from from Carlisle. Good record in leagues 1 & 2, right age and looks like a big strong lad.

Don't see Marquis signing if we're getting Ched.

The next striker will be a pacy player or a target man type who can play the lone role.

Doesn't Marquis have pace then Ricky?

From what I've seen he's quite an all rounder, not too different to Ched. I'd say he's more of a target man if anything, but think we might look for a bit more at Championship level.

Only a hunch, but I would guess he's on Wilders hit list. But at the end of the day, it'll be whether he fits the budget and also dependent upon which other clubs are sniffing as to whether he would be interested.

One thing I will say is, i don't see him remaining at Donny despite the mumblings he's made

Apparently rejected a new deal with Donny

I doubt we're in the market for a centre forward.

I like him but unless he's got pace than I think we have every other type of forward covered. I reckon in January, if we're struggling for goals, or certain forwards haven't made the step up, then we might look at another forward then. I really have high hopes for Lavery next season, although Ched and Billy I'm sure will start and Big Leon and Hanson will no doubt play their part too.

A striker in the championship who is decent with pace usually costs around £10+ million.

I cannot remember a good striker with pace in the current market going for less?

Ferguson was very confident that he would sign his new contract

Just goes to show, it's not just our managers that fall into the trap

Ipswich apparently in for him.

Wonder if CW has enquired?

He's worked with Wilder and Knill before. If they were interested we could have had him for nothing for our League 1 campaign and didn't bother.

Might be a better punt than a lot of other options, like Louis Moult. It would be a typical gamble. No idea how he'd cope. But if he was to do well, he'd quickly become a big asset given the value inflation in the Championship in recent years.
