Never heard of him. Stupid dosh being paid by the panicky clubs. Chug on our Chris.Ruben Neves is going to Wolves for about £17million. That is what we're competing with in the modern day Championship.
Wouldn't have minded us nipping in and getting Boyd on a free.
Very good player, experienced and a great engine.
I think a Blades side with Boyd, Fleck, Sharp and another new striker could be very dangerous at this level.
I've been in Crete and a bar owner I know there WAS a big Olympiakos fan.I was speaking to the Greek guy at work about the new owner.he was saying the guy is bent as they come and a chunk of his fortune is made from drug money.. the kid himself is no economic genius but it was interesting to hear, he was certain that this will go south very quickly
I've been in Crete and a bar owner I know there WAS a big Olympiakos fan.
I was stunned when he told me he had given up because it was owned and run by crooks and the owners were only interested in money
I'll be watching Forest with interest
I'm pretty sure that's Hector BellerinIsn't he the fastest player in the premier league? Sure he beat Kyle Walker
You're right on that fact if my memory serves me correctly!. Fryers has been at palace for a while and has played less than 6 games. Can't think that he's going to be that good as he couldn't even make it with the millers! There's some absolutely stupid fees being paid out now by some Clubs!!. Keep doing the business Chris. UtbI'm pretty sure that's Hector Bellerin
In the cold light of day, looking at the Championship it's going to be a tough league. There are a lot of big clubs in it this year, several with parachute payments. I doubt very much that clubs like Birmingham, Wolves and Villa struggling as much as last year.
I liking keeping track of transfers to see what's going on with our competitors. Barnsley must have an incredible scouting system. They seem to pluck players out of nowhere and sell them for a huge profit on a regular basis.
Burton are making some solid defensive signings and I expect them to be safe.
I think the likes of Forest, Millwall, Bolton, (although, again, solid signings), Ipswich and QPR will struggle. It's going to be tough for us to finish top half, as it stands. There's generally not a lot of money being thrown around. It's early days yet but there are a lot of potentially tough teams who underperformed last season. They have the players, it depends whether they have the manager or right attitude.
There have been some very cute signings so far, but it's early days and I expect a lot of movements to come.
So happy to be back in this league, but it's going to be tough.

Here's my view.
Last season you would have said Brighton will do well as they were a good side that just faltered the season before.
And Newcastle went down with a top manager, retained him and some quality players.
So for me, those two were always going to take some stopping.
Compare to this coming season and I don't see two stand out sides.
Pigs just missed out but are a poor side. Those coming down might have lots of cash, but also massive overheads and Sunderland and Hull will be starting the season with new managers and in a mess as a club, Both up for sale and losing their better players. Boro too have a new manager.
Those in the play offs last season were poor, nothing special at all. They may strengthen, but so is everyone.
So for me, it's far from being a quality league with lots of quality sides. Yes there are some big teams with possibly big budgets but they were dire last season and so far have done nothing to convince me they are going to be significantly better.
It's going to be very tight, most sides are pretty close and any three from the whole league could go down, while any 6 save perhaps Burton and Ipswich and Millwall could make them play offs.
For me, Millwall were very poor last season so have a LOT of ground to make up. They will be my bankers for going down.
As for the blades, I honestly feel we will do ok. Momentum, and consistency in the management and team finally after years of chopping and changing will see us right. On top of that the manager is excellent, and for me will have no issue managing in the championship. We may have so far recruited from the lower leagues and this may be deemed risky, but looking at them individually they are decent players with some having experience of this league, while also having the basics required to be a success...ie some pace, decent touch or a bit of a trick or two.
I don't think there will be more than 20 points between going down and a play off spot
Ruben Neves is going to Wolves for about £17million. That is what we're competing with in the modern day Championship.
Never heard of him.
Again, if clubs are paying that sort of money for a player just cos he has come from abroad, then good luck to them.
I can't help but think that's there is some dodgy dealing being done with all these foreign transfers and the silly fees. I suspect that it's a way dodgy clubs are taking money out of clubs receiving payments from the transfer. And what I mean is that I wouldn't be surprised if wolves only pay a portion of that fee to his club.
I can pick a few who I think will struggle, I can pick a few who I'm sure will be around the top 6.
What I find really difficult is picking out the teams to make up the rest of the bottom half. It seems like there are about 17 top half standard teams in the division. It highlights how the depth in that league has improved. And it's all down to money. Most clubs have rich owners, and a few also have the increasingly absurd parachute payments rolling in.
The ones I fancy to punch above their weight are Preston, to an extent Cardiff and possibly us.
Yes robbiez666 its my worry that iff those cunts get their act together they could be in the top two, like Brighton were last season. My worry about the Wednesday in decline comments is that they were last season. By all accounts, for much of the season they were poor but managed to get to a penalty shoot-out in the play-offs final. I thought they were in decline last last season. All they need to do is play a bit better and be more consistent. It's a big worry. They were one of the most consistent teams in terms of results. The 2 automatic places will go to the most consistent teams out of about 10.
He's after one final big pay day (Boyd). Not for me.
The players Wendy have signed - Boyd, Hooper, Fletcher, Rhodes, Winnall, Reach, Bannon etc. - suggest to me that rather than take a punt on up-and-coming talent, they're going for 'tried and tested'. They've all peaked and are on their way down. That means that they've got no scouting network and rely on past (it) performers. They finished 13 points outside the play-offs last season.
Unless Wendy are firmly in the top two, Carlos the Jackass will be on his way by Christmas.
Really?None of those look like stand out signings to me, not one team that looking who they have brought in makes you think " fuckin hell they mean business". I think our signings look as good as any even those moving for big fees.
No doubt Wilder had made a few very shrewd moves in the transfer market whilst keeping a very good side together but let's not kid ourselves here, there are other sides who are making moves that without a doubt would strengthen our side.
When I look at Stockdale and Roberts to Brum, Boyd to the Wendies and Davies to Derby I can't help but think that all 4 of those players would strengthen our first 11.
I can't understand the fuss about mediocre Brum and Wolves teams. Pigs are going into decline and ultimately failure.
Never heard of him.
Again, if clubs are paying that sort of money for a player just cos he has come from abroad, then good luck to them.
Absolutely mate but my point was in response to an earlier post that was rather dismissive of the signings made by other clubs and I was just picking a few examples where I thought good players were moving between clubs.Oh, I've no doubt they'd strengthen our first 11, but at what cost? Boyd, for example, will be on £30 - 40k p.w. Can you imagine the disruption to our excellent dressing room spirit that bringing somebody like him in would have? That will be the end for Forestieri as he's already thrown his toys out because players are being brought in on mre money than him.
Ability on the pitch is only part of the equation. Tammy Abraham would improve just about any team snag is, he's on £50k p.w. plus a £1m 'retainer' to Chelsea. They're not really 'free' transfers.
Absolutely mate but my point was in response to an earlier post that was rather dismissive of the signings made by other clubs and I was just picking a few examples where I thought good players were moving between clubs.
If we're talking about value for money then it's hard to argue that anybody is doing better business than us at the moment but looking at some of these players moving about at the moment, it does bring home just how tough this season will be.
I agree to an extent, unless both teams sign a brand new squad, this season will likely be too soon to make a serious promotion push.
I think the concern is purely monetary: any club who can afford John Terry's wages or spend £17.5m on a single player will be a contender eventually, building a squad window by window.
Wolves aren't paying that money "just cos he has come from abroad". You not knowing who he is doesn't mean he's not a good player.
Neves is regarded one of the better young Portuguese players (and he has some stuff competition at the minute). He's been attracting interest from some of the world's top clubs in the last couple of years. Wolves could not be in the market for this player if it wasn't for their manager.
I'm not saying he's guaranteed to be a sucess, he may well struggle to adapt, time will tell.
