Just sharing some info I was told this morning by a work colleague (I work in Chesterfield; you'll see the relevance shortly).

Apparently Gregory and Morsy have the same agent; David Reeves who used to play for Chezzy (and Wendy unfortunately).
My work colleague knows David Reeves, who has told him that he is trying to get both of them to the Blades.

Now, I know that doesn't mean that Wilder is interested, or that we will sign them; but at least Gregory and Morsy must both be open to coming. Unless Reeves is working behind their backs without their permission just to line his pockets?

Hope not.
Never been impressed with Gregory, he certainly didn't impress me when he played at the lane. If we are after another Striker then I think they need to offer something different to what Gregory offers.

Morsy of course he'd like to join us he's just been dumped in the first Division, but for me that ship has sailed. The few times I have seen him play and it is only a few times( but I listen to any subscribers to Wigan Tv who have watched him all season) again can't say I was impressed.
Personally I think he's no better than what we have already.

I never got the impression last summer that we were interested in Morsy. I remember Wilder saying something like aye we've had Morsy chucked a us! I remember thinking that doesn't sound like Wilder was that interested! I can't see Gregory coming either. He'd cost a fair bit and I can't see Millwall letting him go unless Gregory puts in a transfer request etc. Besides signing Ched will probably mean we aren't looking at another forward. We've got a Warnock esque number for forwards now! Hanson, Clarke as the big men. Ched as an all rounder and Billy and Lavery playing off the bigger man or Ched option.

If we do add to that number though, the one thing we're missing is blistering pace. Steve Kabba mark two must be out there!

Cheers for the info.
I want neither though so I'm not overly bothered.

Gregory would love to join us. I can find out later this evening if it's likely.

We needed Morsy 2 years ago not now - we have better players already in our ranks
I still think he'll be incredibly useful. If not in starting 11 then as a backup midfielder

Obviously he's a mate of yours but he scored 15 in league 1 last year, 9 in his Championship season, so could you also ask him if he could kick that much of a fuss up about getting a move that Millwall are forced to except peanuts for him? Cheers.

Gregory is a huge Blade (check the tattoo on his calf) and I'm sure would jump at the chance of moving back north. However, with Sharp at the club and the signing of Evans I just don't see how he'll offer anything different. Personally, I think he's a great player, offers tremendous movement & very good finishing ability and I'd have preferred the club to sign him rather than Evans but I think there's a greater need for a pacy, tricky game changing type of striker.

He's not a mate of mine, I can ask though ;)

Problem with Morsy is this - he'd be a relatively expensive wage to be going in as Coutts and Fleck's back up. There would be less expectation on Leonard to find his feet. But most fans would probably object, and the manager, to seeing someone paid 15k per week for instance, for being a glorified cheerleader.

I don't want Gregory at all either. I think Sharp, Clarke, Evans and Hanson can all out perform Gregory at the aspects of his game he excels at - Billy is a better finisher, Hanson is better in the air etc. One area we need to consider if we lose Done and create one space is this - aside from Lavery to a point, we have an abundant lack of pace throughout the entire team especially in the remaining attacking ranks.

If we offload Done's wages I'd like to see us add a genuine option of pace even if it is some young maverick on loan. It's just an option we really lack right now. We don't lack the attributes Gregory would bring at all and spending 2m on him would be a waste of the Maguire money straight away.

Reevesy was a mate of Wilder's back in the day when I mixed in those circles so it's not unrealistic.

Agree with a lot of what's been said. They are both good league 1 players.

Gregory isn't any better than what we already have, so would just be a squad filler.
Would imagine he'd want decent money, which wouldn't seem good value for someone who plays odd games.

Morsey is decent and would have a better chance of getting in our first team BUT he's not good enough to be an automatic starter and I would imagine his wage demands will be high, so again probably a poor value signing.

Morsy will be on the list somewhere below Leonard. Not the outstanding signing he would've been in L1 but I'd still take him, and I doubt he'd cost much in fee or wages, no more than Leonard.

No doubt Gregory would love to play for us, and no doubt Wilder would love to have him. But it would be hard to justify.

I thought Gregory had a 1 mill release clause, or so we were told.
I'd see Gregory as cover for Sharp in case of injury, i don't see any of our other forwards as the same type of player.

He needs to fuck them two off and tell his son to sign for us. Or is Ben his nephew?
