Depends the leon Clarke signing seemed to drag on...

if the difference is over say 100k or some of the clauses in the contract. its probably worth haggling abit more - if the bid and asking price are a million miles apart then it would be best to move on and start working on new targets.

The way I see it, whatever is holding it up has to be something more problematic than a small difference in price.

The way Wilder works I would imagine this would have been concluded one way or the other by now. I can't imagine that either club would haggle over 100k or over terms. Wilder has said many times that we will make fair offers and clubs/players can either take or leave them. It doesn't sound like we do much haggling if at all.

Every day, sometimes several times a day, I come on here to see if we've signed Ryan Leonard. I want him so bad now but I don't know a thing about him! I feel like spinning round in circles and screaming till I'm sick!

I do hope this comes to a conclusion soon!

I go round in circles
Not graceful, not like dancers
Not neatly, not like compass and pencil
More like a dog on a lead, going mental…

This reminds me of the Enda Stevens thread.

Checking it every 11 minutes hoping that we'd finally signed him.

One day a confirmation link from Twitter was posted and that was the best day of my life.

I hope this thread will ultimately provide me with similar fulfillment.

It appears like Millwall have offered the most money , but still not enough for Southend, by that I'm guessing United have decided to move on .

I've done a google search and checked Chris Phillips Twitter
And all is says is that Bolton and Millwall have made enquiries, so presumably are interested.
But it seems that only Sheff Utd have made official bids so far.
Presumably both Millwall and Bolton will talk to the player before deciding if it's worth making a bid.

Have you a link anywhere that Millwall have actually made a bid.

Is there a chink in CW hard line negotiating strategy? He said on Alan Biggs TV he doesn't want big differences in wages in the squad. If the club have set the bar to low for championship wages we might only be able to get lower league players and miss out on established championship players.

Liverpool money might be avaiable for transfers but if the wages are to low they will not come.

Just sayin'

Sure Wilder knows the wage structure in championship but as he has said no one is going to have the prince and Mccabe pants down while he is manager.Nothing wrong with running a tight wage structure

If the structure, is good enough for Fleck and Sharp it will be for other championship players that we want to bring in. Wilder has a philosophy similar to Bassett, in that it's all about the sum of the parts!

But Bassett tended to sign players other people didn't want because his style of play meant technical ability wasn't as important. We play a passing game now and players need ability to do that. Those kind of players will always be in greater demand so we have to compete more for their signatures.

We're not the only club that scouts the lower leagues.

Yes, nothing makes me happier than the thought CW will be signing his third choice players to save a bit of cash for our owners.

I think you've got that the wrong way round, if Wilder really wants a player and he thinks the price is acceptable, the owners will make the cash available :)

This "we won't pay more than we think a player is worth" stance is one of the reasons we spent 6 seasons in division 3 - the longest in our history. Sometimes you need to pay a little over the odds to get the players you want. I'm not saying go mad - but it's disappointing to see us outbid by smaller clubs - particularly when we are not even talking big sums of money.

Any news on the special signings McCabe mentioned?

So whenever we fail to bring one of our targets in, it's because CW doesn't think the player is worth it? That's convenient.

Also, I Googled Keiran Lee and the first Wikipedia page that popped up I clicked...

Keiran Lee (born January 15, 1984) is apornographic actor, director, and producer who works for production companyBrazzers.[1]

Lee is the only man in the world with a penis that is reportedly insured for $1 million.[4]

He'll fit in at Hillsborough then with all the other massive pricks down there ;)

Where have we been outbid by smaller clubs?

Again that's down to Wilder to decide how much over the odds, it's his call and I don't think for a minute that the owners would object.
Wilder has proved beyond doubt that he knows his stuff :)
Just playing Devil's advocate but didn't Warnock prove he knew his stuff? But many said he looked out of his depth when he took a step up into the PL.

Agree it's a convenient twist on words.

Reminds me of when players ask for a massive pay rise and are refused.
They then go to the press saying "I want to leave because the club doesn't make me feel wanted"
Or "I'm very ambitious so I'm leaving because I need to be at a club that matches my ambition".
Us fans on the street would simply call them greedy twats.

The thing with Wilder though, he's often said he wants players that "want to come to BL".
Thing it's easier in the lower divisions but as you get higher there are more and more mercenary players.
They aren't bothered who they play for and simply go to the highest bidder.

Why should they be bothered? If they're not Blades what do we offer that most other championship clubs don't?

blades fans, the epitome of glass half empty!
How's about that wilder does not think a player is worth what the selling club want or the wages are not VFM in comparison to other targets.

Some on here just seem to want him / us to fail so that you can say told you so.

I think most of us want to see him sign some decent players to help us progress in the championship. It's early days yet and plenty of time for him to do so.
On the basis all we have to talk about until August is transfers then maybe we should just shut the board down until then so no one can ask difficult questions.

Maybe, but I don't think Warnock turned so many aspects of the club around as Wilder has - and certainly not in such a short time.
Maybe Wilder will look out of his depth in seasons to come, but I suspect Wilder has a greater capacity to adapt to new circumstances than Warnock had (and I have no particular dislike for Warnock) :)

It's about not getting fleeced with have spent 6; years in division 1, because we signed players who came for the money
Wilder won't tolerate that ,yes we have to up the anti but value for money is what Wilder looks for. That's a refreshing to here

Agreed Silent Blade. I think there is just a great deal of shadow boxing atm. I am very pleased that we have got some very good early business done.
