At the risk of being pelted for saying this, but is his stock out side of these four walls that strong.
We know he did a great job, and it took 6 years to get out of that godforesaken division, but most people thought it was only a matter of time. Do none Blades people genuinely rate him that highly?
199 points in two seasons.
Two successive league titles.
Improved the league position of every club he's ever been with.
Never been sacked by any club due to his consistent record of success.
Ready, willing and very able to work to a realistic budget.
I think it's fair to say that other clubs will have noticed his exceptional track record and rate him highly.
When you look at some of the other rookies/serial failures/journeymen who've been rewarded with managerial jobs in The Championship, it beggars belief that Wilder wouldn't be a prime target.
The key players who excelled last season are to be rewarded with the offer of improved contracts and performance-based incentives.
Chris Wilder is 100 times more important to United than any of these players.
Why would United not offer him (and his staff) the same sort of improved contract and incentives?
We can be sure that other clubs will be willing to pay Championship wages to a Championship manager. It would be risky and just seems unfair to take Wilder's club loyalty for granted.
