Agree, it must be difficult for a little' un to compete in a sport where physical strength and athleticism are increasingly valued attributes. I appreciate some of the Worlds best aren't that tall but this is the English Championship we're talking about

Size is irrelevant. It didn't hold Bremner or Johnny Giles back or the lad at Leicester, Kante, before anyone accuses me of harking back to the old days. I reckon the only thing which held Scougall back was his nasty side wasn't nasty enough. There's a player in there somewhere.

Agree all the best to Scoogs & Done always gave 100% and won us games on occasions & a special one for Scoogs for the Wembley goal , Hussey & Wilson did there bit when asked this season but no surprises really , McNulty sorry never got his signing , fast no , good finisher no , hold up play shite , league 2 or Scottish Micky mouse league player at best , think we got sold a pup on that one

So Done's still under contract then. Maybe we can look for a part exchange deal with someone, possibly Rotherham or Rochdale.

Good luck to all those leaving.

I think signing O'Shea will prove to be unnecessary.

If Brooks has signed a new contract as is rumoured, that's the best news of all and I would've thought they might have mentioned it in that article.

There will be some players we're open to offers for, but aren't transfer listed. The likes of Long, Brayford and Hanson.

Pretty much as expected although I didn't realise that Done was under contract for another season. Wilson can consider himself a little unfortunate, he's done well when called upon but equally he hasn't been able to force his way in.

O'Shea has been offered a contract but it wouldn't surprise me if it was at L1-level wages for a bit-part role. Up to Mr O'Shea now.

I think o'shea is a cracking signing and for me , amongst the retained players , he's one of our players best suited to the Championship .

Give him a full pre-season and add that to the abundance of technical ability he has and he'll do very well indeed .

Pretty much as expected although I didn't realise that Done was under contract for another season.

Done when signed agreed a two-and-half year contract with a further 12 month option – so it's presumably auto-extended based on appearances as with the others mentioned, but for some reason that detail is omitted (Wilder definitely included Done in reference to these clauses before Christmas).

I certainly had. I thought we'd released him last summer. Did we not?

Legends speak of a loan move to some kind of "Cod Army", though no man alive can confirm this.

Remember, being transfer listed does not mean they won't stay and earn a new contract.

Freeman and Coutts. REMEMBER.

A little different this time though, it's not a new manager coming in.

And there will certainly be replacements for other areas coming in for their wages.....O'Shea for one is a replacement for Scougall. Evans for McNulty.

Yes, Wilson has been unlucky. But he also hasn't managed to push anyone else out. What it does make clear is that either Brayford will come back in, or we will be signing another centre half. That said at his age he needs to be playing.

I would hope more than two signings. We need more strength and ability in the back four, cover for the midfield trio in case of injuries and ditto up front. I'd be happy with four signings, even if one was an out of contract, as long as they're fucking capable. In Wilder we trust. Just give him the cash, McCabe.

Good choices to release. I would have kept EEL, meself. Wolves might have given us a reduced cost on him.

pommpey
I don't disagree I just think we have to be realistic, if we can shift the three listed players that would obviously help with incomings. Wilder will sort it though I've no doubt.

He scored a penalty for Fleetwood's development squad against Blackburn in the Lancashire Senior Cup final on Monday, so he does exist, although no league appearances all season suggests nobody would notice if he didn't

All of those players should get a new club quite easily. They have just been let go from the league winners from league one.
Granted they may have decent wages currently, but they will still get a new club.

Scougs needs to be at a club playing football....McNulty likewise as he's not a beneficiary of hoof. Done will get in any side in league one.

What is this obsession on here with wanting to get rid of a championship quality player!?

Brayford galvanised us when all was looking rosy in Cloughie's first season and, evidently, is capable at Championship level. He also seems a really decent guy.

However, when we really needed him to step up and 'lead', he disappeared. He wasn't alone and it was arguably difficult for any player to soar like an eagle whilst being managed by a turkey but Billy still managed it. That was his real test of character and he failed it.

He doesn't seem to fit the profile of a Wilder player and I'd be amazed if he played for us again.

In my opinion those decisions seem spot on.

Mcnulty should sign for Portsmouth and play in a side where he will get a run of games.
Its a shame about Scougal because I liked him as a player - just hasn't kicked on and I don't seem him breaking back into the side and time soon.

Done and Hussey just aren't championship quality unfortunately and hopefully means we will bring in some better quality.

Wilsons the only query as we haven't seen much of him to judge. He didn't look bad but equally didn't do anything to think he could make the step up. Potentially one that its worth keeping as cover.

Does mean we now really need a cover/new full backs. probably a couple of centre backs and with Scougal and Chapman going we look short of attacking mids/wingers.

Summert not reight 'ere.

Retained list issued, co owners laughing and joking promising to back manager, strong names linked with moves to BDTBL, unbelievable season in the bag.

But worst of all I feel positive. I can't wait for transfer window to open, pre season, fixture list, season to begin.

Tellin thee, summert not reight 'ere.

I'm already starting to like what we are seeing .

For Mcnulty - Ched Evans . Even on this seasons performance Ched is infinitely better .

Done/ Scougal - Jay o'shea . Once again a massive improvement .

Wilson/Hussey - John Brayford . Proven championship level over league 1 stalwarts .

No marquee signings just like last season . We're looking well balanced just like last season . We're not throwing silly money at it just like last season . And what's betting there'll be no loan signings untill 3- 4 games in exactly like last season .

Another 2 signings and the ST renewal looks like money very well spent . Just like last season .

If Brooks has signed a new contract ..............

I like Chapman, but we don't need him if Brooks can step up, however..........isn't Books supposed to be the makeweight in the Chedwyn deal?

It'd be nice wouldnt it .

I just have a feeling that we are going to surprise an awful lot of teams next season . Whether that means we will make a real concerted effort to push for the playoffs or make a nice habit of overrunning teams that think we'll set up not to lose , I don't know . But I can't wait to find out .

Wilder doing business this early too is a true measure of the man . Happy days fellow Blades !

Though clearly not good enough for The Championship Scougs leaves us with a lot of good will and one or two excellent memories .

Also Macnulty has gone an all...

Wish Scougs all the best, however McNulty will not be missed, div4 at best or Scott Prem if can't find a club in England!
