We've seen a squad of players this season that have been unified by wilder and bought in from lower league clubs and had a point to prove amongst a few that have been out of favour in the championship and wanted a return.
However Next season in the championship it could be argued we need to strengthen our squad a little the only problem is the players at the minute will most probably all be on or under 10k or not far above per week and these days it's common for a championship player to be on 20-30k a week but with this could come the attitude and lifestyle. To me it seems players with a poor attitude won't be anywhere near Wilders plans and I certainly don't want to see players on big wages coming in on big fees sitting on the bench or half heartedly walking around the pitch. When Wilder and Knill eventually sober up the enormity of what's about to face them will hit home in negotiations of players with the fee/agents fee/wages/players wives etc etc
Can team unity and the "crazy gang" kind of spirit not only stop up but actually succeed in the championship? Would we be better off just keeping to what we've got rather than upset the dressing room with a big ego? I expected Leon Clarke to upset what we had, he seemed the big head footballer type to me from the outside but he's survived the season without being frozen out, this brings me to another question is Wilder the type to freeze a player out? I don't think he is, I think he's the type of manager to tell it like it is and hold "clear the air" talks. As daft as it might sound I don't want to see any big names or big signings I want the players who prefer to be in the background and graft hard rather than the "look at me in my Lamborghini/gold watch/stupid haircut" type.

Anyway I'm rambling on, I can't even remember the point I was trying to make !

Wow! watch the subject ping around like a game of Breakout when the top layer of bricks have gone!

I think the point you're making alludes to the 'perceived' images that certain players emit. You mention Clark, who I agree would have been a perfect example of the type of Billy big Bollox who just couldn't any longer cut it the Champ and grudgingly dropped a div and then moped about not putting any real seat in - BUT we (me and you) were wrong weren't we?
I think the reason was, because Wilder would see this attitude a mile off and steer well clear.
Let's hope that Chris's 'radar' is well tuned and we just sign skilful/capable team men who will listen to the remit Chris delivers and work their bollox off to deliver all that is required, for the boss and the team, and of course ultimately, the fans.

sorry, that should read - 'not putting any real sweat in'.
