I reckon Wilder and Knill are mainly going to assess, other than his fitness obviously, whether or not he is going to have a detrimental effect on the team spirit if he comes back to stay. I believe they will value his overall impact on the 'togetherness' of the squad above his individual performance ability. If he can come back and get over leaving Clough, and put the team over himself, I reckon he can do a job. I just don't think he can do that. Hopefully he will want to be a part of what Wilder has got going at the Lane though.

Care to give us a single instance where he put himself before the team?

I think he's 29.

I suppose hypothetically if he comes back and does perform well for us, he will still be a cunt who loves Clough?

I understand your contempt for the likes Che Adams and McNuts but I think your new found hatred for Brayford is misplaced.

His daddy Clough had the only eligible vote.

If memory serves me right weren't you going to stand corrected about Clough ?he's now proven as a fraud and taken Burton down after all it was all hasselbainks doing they were there in the first place. As for Brayford he's a class player and for me we should welcome him back with open arms. He'll fit right in with this squad , hard working and the right attitude.

It's neither new-found nor is it a hatred. I just think he's unprofessional and wasted our time at a point where we needed him. I really have no desire to see him back.

And theres me thinking it was Jimmy Floyd Hassailbank that kept Burton up

You're absolutely right. I was convinced he'd take them back down but I was wrong.

So that's a proud record of promotion with Burton and not getting relegated with Burton on his CV. Well done Brians lad.

Someone really needs to contact Ricky to find out if he's okay.......

You always post on the Brayford threads too.

I think I've said everything for now. But in short...

We could get better value for money and should recoup what we can and let him go.

I'll see if I can think of anything new to say.

Best we're going to get I suppose but try not to make the same mistake with Brayford, rembember he didn't really want to go and Wilder sang his praises for the way he handled it. I would imagine / hope Wilder will welcome him back and give him a chance.

Glad your okay Hun!

:)

They can have him. Evidently John Bradford doesn't play for Sheffield United or even himself. His only interest is serving Nigel Clough

I think you're right. And I think Clough will be offered the Forest job and will take Brayford there with him. It's good for us. He's no better than Freeman and it means we get a nice big fee for him (hopefully).

I doubt that Wilder rates him. Lets him go out on a season long loan - and it was hardly in the same boat as sending a kid to a lower league to gain experience - brings Freeman in and (along with some other changes like Moore and Wright) our fortunes start to change.

A few saying Freeman will struggle with the defensive side of his game in the Championship, but from what I saw Brayford was really struggling with exactly that in League 1 last at the start of this season, and his bombing forward attacking runs weren't really happening either. Don't know how he's been used at Burton but I think I heard he was playing in more of a central role.

That's a world of difference to not training anymore. Anyway, he played 36 games last season, excelled by all reports and wasn't afraid to put himself about. Not bad for a crock.

I thought it was obvious that he was doing some form of training and that 'he doesn't train anymore' because of his knees was accepted football parlance for not doing the heavy day to day stuff for fear of injury. Think we can say that in that context it wasn't bollocks.

As for him not being a crock - he may have played 36 games but with bad knees that hinder training and physical contact, plus the fact of the strain it puts on other joints (the games he missed this season was due to a strain on his 'good' knee) and Wilder's M.O. for his wing backs/players in general - there is no denying that Brayford would be at greater risk of missing significant parts of the season compared to other options and his injuries MUST be a consideration when deciding his future.

He.played well but the all action, flying down the wing John Brayford is a thing of the past unfortunately. Shame but we can definitely do better.

It's not unreasonable to think he would I admit. Maybe it would work out.

But this, coupled with the Evans signing is a retrograde step to my mind. At a time when we could be bringing in fresh players with a view to building a dynamic team we appear to be going down the tried and tested route. Personally it doesn't appeal to me.

The "good"knee injury he sustained in January was due to a collision with an opponent, unlikely to becaused by any injury to his "bad" knee.

Does he now have two bad knees?

Can't say for certain obviously but in terms of the Brayford that we had on loan he is a busted flush. It isn't controversial.or incorrect to say he is at greater risk of long term or career threatening injury compared to most players.

Hopefully that player is Jason McCarthy who we are rumoured to be signing.

I simply commented on what you actually posted about his knees. You intimated both were problematic. If they aren't, it's incorrect.

A good season in the Championship for a team expected to be relegated. Is he a busted flush full stop or just as far as we're concerned?

Adkins' Law. (Nowt to do with him really but he deserves to have something shit named after him.)

If Brayford comes back, he'll injure himself in August, be out for most of the season and leave on a free.
If we sell him, he'll have a blinding season and be in the championship team of the season.

Said exactly the same, he's our player, he ticks a lot of boxes, lets make use of him.

Brayford aint a centre back - he only played there because Clough was short on defenders.

I dont want him back - didnt want to be part of this season with us - says it all. He can remain with his Dad at Burton. They can pay us an acceptable transfer fee as well.

What I said was if you have a weak joint such as a knee, it puts extra strain on your other joints which makes them more susceptible to injury. Not that those other joints are problematic in isolation.

As for my busted flush comment I meant in terms of the all action, up and down full back we had in 2014. Of course he could still be an asset, my view is he isn't worth the risk if we can offload him.

Not for me either.
As has been said, I think he's best forgotten, he's getting on a little now, the injury seemed to set him back a mile and in the approach to our game, he wouldn't be suited.

Arguably this system will suit him more than any played during his time at SUFC. Getting on a little at 29? And if KF is injured, who plays RWB? I'd argue that any players with Championship experience could prove more than useful - he'd even suit RCB in this system. Worth a look in pre-season, at least.

It's just I thought he had just the one bad knee whereas you said "knees". Plus the injury to the good knee wasn't a strain in the context you were talking about but down to an impact.

Other clubs would have to entertain that same risk. If CW doesn't need or want him, I can't see it being that easy to get rid. Then the "waste of money" brigade will be out in force without taking into account the serious knee injury he suffered and using him as a scapegoat for a strange ongoing obsessional dislike for Clough.

Nothing strange about that :)

Not if you're obsessed, no.

Well it's not obsessive hatred but it's close or shall i say it was. Luckily his ineptness then Adkins has taken us to this point. If wilder decided to spunk all his money on a Right back when we have no centre backs or forwards I would fall out with him too. Anyway we move on :)

Don't disagree.
