Apparently had a great season and has been the rock of their defence

Seen lots of people posting they would not want him back next year, I would definitely get him back for next season
if wilder doesnt want him i would make clough pay a large portion of his transfer fee from cardiff so wilder could spend it wisely

One point worth making is we may not have any choice in the matter given he's our player ! I bet we were paying a portion of his wages this season as I doubt Burton could afford them all. If the same is likely to happen again aren't we better off having him as cover ?

JB was class for us, right up until that horrible injury at home to Swindon. He was probably thrown in too early into a new defence under a new manager. Lets not forget how shite all the players were\looked in August. Now, the question is money. He'll be on around 10k a week, in the final year of his contract too so its a gamble. With the season he's had though who else could we get in for that sort of money?? He could probably play CB for us in a back 3 and I reckon Wilder will give him a chance as he's a good ball carrier.

Don't see the issue with his return.

If we wish to persist with three at the back, then he's just excelled doing that in the division we are about to enter.

He has experience and understanding of playing with Freeman and Coutts for a long time, both of whom would be closest to him in that role on the pitch.

You've got the hassle of selling him, paying a signing on fee for someone else etc. Why do it? You need proven players and he's shown himself to have recovered from his injury and is undoubtedly proven at that level.

It's a yes from me unless the wages are astronomical and they aren't because he took a cut to join us.

If we stick with the 3-5-2 formation, could play him at cb.
But if Wilder changes formation and we have fullbacks he may have to take freemans spot, which isn't nice to say after his season and my mvp but defensively freeman isn't great (but as a wing back/ more attacking player freeman all the way)

Brayford aint a centre back - he only played there because Clough was short on defenders.

I dont want him back - didnt want to be part of this season with us - says it all. He can remain with his Dad at Burton. They can pay us an acceptable transfer fee as well.

He's played right of a back 3 all season as well as being captain, we're looking for a player in that position, technically he's a better player than EEL.

I do agree on one point though, he only appears to want to play for teams managed by Clough.

At a time when we could be bringing in fresh players with a view to building a dynamic team we appear to be going down the tried and tested route. Personally it doesn't appeal to me.

Tyler

You have been one of Sharp's biggest fans this season, so not sure why you think that unknown 'fresh' players are always going to be great? 'Better the devil you know' and all that...

Not really sure why we wouldn't have him back. He was average after his injury.

Wilder has sent him out on loan, freed a portion of his wages up, and Brayford has responded by excelling in a very poor Championship side.

Brayford has done everything we could have wanted when sending him out on loan. Let's give him a chance now. Could be a very useful option

But this, coupled with the Evans signing is a retrograde step to my mind. At a time when we could be bringing in fresh players with a view to building a dynamic team we appear to be going down the tried and tested route. Personally it doesn't appeal to me.

If we signed Kyle Walker back I think we'd have a few on here saying the same, with one or two perhaps conceding he'd be good back-up for Freeman.
