I'm not a neutral, granted, but to say that Norwich or Boro are a step up from us is ridiculous. Maybe right at this very moment it is (despite us having just achieved 100 points etc, but if budget is how you define a step-up..), but by the end of next season? Not saying we will be above them, but we will be competing.

As I said before, I may be naive, but to say that Wilder would leave us for a "step-up club" such as (with respect to them) Norwich or Boro, is way off the mark.

Good points . Wilder is no spring chicken and a top top job may well have passed him by , even after the fantastic work he has done at Halifax , Oxford , Northampton and Blades . It is not vogue being a English manager and it does appear certain clubs prefer foreign managers , when having foreign ownership . Also remember Wilder has never managed in the championship.

My view is that Wilder will find it difficult getting a club bigger or better than United , which is excellent news for us .

Deep down Wilder will know his stock and level of club available to him , past , present , and future .

Just the way of the world . Passion and seen as a hero means nothing to the vast majority of chairman in the premiership . They want someone who can manage spoilt kid millionaires or have a foreign name . Pathetic .

nah that move I don't see, as long has he is getting fair treatment by the owners, fans and its all going well on the field, I don't see him moving away.

It's ok, our Prince isn't over here to hand Chris a big transfer budget, he's over here to just ensure he ties him down to a long, lucrative contract with a whopping compensation bill should Chris eventually decide to hop it

Lives in the city, ball boy, fan, player now manager. I hope I'm not wrong but all those that came, succeeded and left in the past were outsiders. Currie, Deane, Edwards etc...I think the only way he'll leave is if things either don't work out or he gets an offer he really can't refuse i.e. Two more successful seasons and then a big big club.

I think you're doing Wilder a disservice! I don't see why he couldn't be managing a top half premier league club within 5 years.

Wilder's stock is sky high right now and I could definitely see him getting offers from clubs with a good chance of promotion next season.

Good chance we will finish above them next season. If you are going to leave the club that you love and that loves you you'd at least do it for a decent top end job.
We wouldn't finish above them if Wilder was their manager. Nobody would

I'd guess Wilder will want to give the Championship a whirl with us. His passion shines through. Anyone see him puck the ball boy up and spin him around after the goal? Kid was grinning from ear to ear for ages.
Wrong on health and safety reasons imo!

If Wilder left United that would be the biggest shock in all the time I've been watching the Blades. Which goes back to us selling Mick Jones to Leeds.

No. It won't happen.

He will take us to the Prem before disappearing into the sunset with a case of Stella and being made a Freeman of the city.

Ah but if I told you we would finish 5th and Sunderland would finish 6th who would you say has the better chance of promotion?

Had you asked me that at the end of last season (and a few seasons before that) You would get a different answer to what I would give now.

Just this caveat: 'As long as McCabe and co don't fuck him over'

Otherwise the future's bright, it's red and white - and in Sheffield!

Stella? After the last few weeks, it's got to be peroni and champagne surely...

Middlesborough? On the same day as we get over 31,000 for a third division match (with no real away support) Middlesborough, in the Premier league get less than 30,000 against one of the best teams in Europe.

Potential? They're not even at the races.

If I was Sunderland chairman he would be my first choice.

199 points in 2 seasons.

Sunderland would be thinking if I can get a big budget here (which they will) let's give CW a try.

Don't you worry about that, Chris Wilder will definitely be managing a Premier League side within five years.

I even know which club it will be.

Sheffield United. You heard it here first.

Sunderland are - like we have been in the past - absolutely brilliant at picking shite managers. Di Canio, Gus Poyet, Advocaat and serial walkers Allardyce and Bruce. Now topped off by the egregious Moyes. Any manager - not just CW - would be crazy to join that mess.

I may have misunderstood but because a pundit has said Sunderland should go for Wilder he's going to get offered the job?

Allardyce? Sorry, but you can't knock his record in the Premier League.

No way Sunderland would be in this position had he stayed.
