Brayford thoughts

His wages? His fee? The fact that he was injured? Been woefully all out of form?

Pick one of those.

Wilder got rid of players he didn't want fairly quickly and Brayford much like Adams could have been sold in the summer. He took a wage cut to join us, I am sure most Championship clubs could have picked them up and paid a fee.

This

The guy has made his career in the Championship. If he can play for us in the Championship then happy days surely?

If he is good enough, he stays. If not then get rid. Thankfully Wilder makes these choices.

Wilder is full of shit though. We all know the truth now that John wanted to leave so he could give Clough a blow job.

You should never let the facts stand in the way of an agenda.

His performances after Cloughs departure can only be explained so far by his successor and return from injury. He lacked every single attribute that made his initial spell a successful one.

And I do think that there are parallels between him and the Ched issue (albeit under very different circumstances). The desire for the return of both players seems to be based largely on nostalgia rather than an objective analysis of our current situation.

If hypothetically he did return to the fold and thrived then I'll happily admit to being wrong. I was about Freeman and Coutts after all. But as it stands I have no desire to see us retreading old ground.
"Objective analysis of our current situation"

Do we feel we need another striker of speed and quality to augment, push or replace Billy? If your answer is yes then is Ched Evans a consideration bearing in mind we have Merlin and Harry Potter to work their magic on him (CW, AK).

Do we need a quality right wing back, who can also play in a back three, to cover for and push on, Freeman, bearing in mind we have been wanting one all season? Could Merlin and Harry Potter work their magic on the beard?

If so, this is based on an objective analysis of our current situation. I understand why you feel it might be nostalgia but they both have performed to the level we require in the past. It's down to the management team to decide if they are both worth the gamble. Wages will not be an issue in Cheds case and shouldn't be in Brayfords. I personally don't think Burton will stump up for him so he might end up back at the Lane by default.

For me it's a no brainer....

Brayford struggled to come back from a bad injury and then came back into an bang average side under Adkins. I have never seen him give less than 100% for us. Think Wilder made the decision that we needed to spend on a new keeper after the first few games and had to raise some funds for Moore.

For me Brayford is a good quality championship player and can play in a number of positions in a 3-5-2 formation. We don't currently have any cover for Freeman and EEL will go back leaving no CB cover

If he's happy to come back I can see wilder being happy to have him. As has been pointed out - lots of people would have been happy to see freeman and coutts go at the start of the year but I'm not sure we would have gone up without either of them.
