Will CW have any plans for Brayford for next season especially if Burton go down.
I could maybe see him playing in the back 3 and also cover for Freeman.

We are going to need players of the calibre of Brayford next year or we will be going straight back down. Anyone who thinks the current team is going to succeed on sentiment alone is a fool. Some of the current team, and I don't mean just Matt Done, are going to be missing from the starting XI next August whether you like it or not.

Is EEL a better central defender and can he cover right back/right wing back if the answer to either question is no, bring the beard back in from the cold, play him see if CW and AK can get him to playing again in a Blades shirt, if not sell him in January or even end on first transfer window.
I just think why buy a new defender IF the ones we already have on the books could do the job, if Chris and Alan can do the same to brayford as they have to freeman or coutts I think that would be a bloody good back 5.

Sentiment is literally why you think Brayford will cut it in the Championship

He got what he wanted from this club then buggered off.
Let's show him the same loyalty, bin him off straight away.

We've got a better right wing back.

We'll need better at centre half.

We'd want less expensive squad players.

We don't want players who will only play for one manager.

Beards aren't important.

Because that is what he is doing now

I'm sorry? Burton Albion sit 21st in the league, and these are the players we deem as having 'calibre'. The ONLY reason anyone would want him back is because of how he played for us that ONE season. Sentiment.

Let's just move on. There's a reason he went out on loan this year and people need to realise that. Why pander to a player who clearly didn't want to be around this season?

I wouldn't write JB off just yet. Experienced Championship player who could do a job.

Freeman in the Freeman role is a shoe in. But I agree that the Right Centre Back role, in a back 3 is up for grabs (dependent on Wilders vision for Bashams role).

Any player doesn't have the option to bugger off when they feel like it. The club usually loans them out. If it was my decision at the start of the season I would have got rid of Coutts and Freeman ahead of Brayford. So would have many more, including you if you're being honest.

I thought it was CW who wanted to send Brayford out on loan for the season so he could reduce the wages and not Brayford asking to leave?

Either way, if Wilder sees fit to bring him back and include him in the squad, then clearly he thinks he will be good enough, whether as a starter or squad player/back up for Freeman. I'm not too bothered either way but will trust the management's judgement.

Wow! JB as possible cover for Freeman.
A sentence I never thought I'd hear!!
Well done KF on a great comeback and a great season.

There's no way Brayford would come back as first choice at RCB ahead of Basham, and rightly so. It will take a good player to displace Basham.

As you say, Freeman is nailed on to get his chance.

So where does that leave Brayford? As back up? On his wages there's no chance that will be allowed to happen.

Also, if we are going to sell him it has to be this summer, because by January he'll have 6 months left on his contract and we'd get even less for him than we will now.

It all boils down to his attitude and his personality.
The fans would love the right Brayford back, I'm sure Wilder would as well, but does the "right" Brayford exist anymore?
He's class, but if his head isn't right then regardless of ability CW won't give him the time of day.

Brayford is the new "Sign Ched".

i.e fucking irrelevant to our current situation.
Not so Tyler, first off Bradford is already our player, second he has higher level experience which many of our current players don't, third we are promoted so asking if a player could do a job for us in a higher league is very relevant as our current situation is planning for next as our manager has said he has already started to do.

Brayford had no interest in helping us this season - so he can stay with his boyfriend at Burton. We should get some funds for him and use them to strengthen, signing players who want to be here.

Thing is this, and it's a bit timely that we're talking about brayford because the hull city game is all over Facebook.. and the quality of the cross for baxters goal is exactly what we need next season, brayford played well at Bolton first game as I remember and was committed enough to almost get his head took of his shoulders, and I'm certain he was put out on loan to create a few quid for wilder to bring a few in... didn't wilder say something along those lines..

Might be sentiment, or the beard, but on his day he's excellent.. he wouldn't hurt us, but I smell a player swap in August..

Yes but he is playing under clough, would wilder bring more out of him?, possibly.

Unlike Freeman & Coutts, Brayford never got the opportunity to show Wilder what he could do. It was Wilder who shipped him out, remember.

As for the Ched analogy, come on TD, you're better than that.

His performances after Cloughs departure can only be explained so far by his successor and return from injury. He lacked every single attribute that made his initial spell a successful one.

And I do think that there are parallels between him and the Ched issue (albeit under very different circumstances). The desire for the return of both players seems to be based largely on nostalgia rather than an objective analysis of our current situation.

If hypothetically he did return to the fold and thrived then I'll happily admit to being wrong. I was about Freeman and Coutts after all. But as it stands I have no desire to see us retreading old ground.

Don't know why people are speaking about his wages, they won't be any higher than the majority of our squads when their pay goes up next season.

Brayford is a quality player, spent most of this season in the Championship and knows the club and many players.

If he's fit and able he'd be a fantastic addition to welcome back into the squad.

If wilder thinks the same then I'm sure he'll be back.

So many fans have written off so many players and those players have proved the fans wrong this season

I think the question in the OP might usefully be rephrased as (something like), "Can we sell him for a reasonable whack, then invest the fee we receive to make the XI, and the squad, stronger than if we kept him on the books". Personally, I think the answers are "Yes" and "Yes".
