Hi GCB.
Given the sad news you wrote about a few days ago may I just say that I did indeed remember you as the celebrations began with the first goal.
Second goal.
And promotion.
Though tinged with dreadful sadness for you I just want to say enjoy the celebrations as we will win this league too.
Main goal achieved at last.
Thinking of you and your dad.

Thanks H,
I posted elsewhere that today felt different because it wasn't like being at a proper match!
There were none of the normal routines today, plus Wednesday night copped for the brunt of the emotion.
Driving home was a bit sad at one point, because if we didn't go to the game together, he'd always phone for a chat and I was half expecting the phone to ring, but of course it didn't.
But today is a day for celebrating and being happy, something he would have wanted.
Thanks again for your kind thoughts and to everyone else who has showed such compassion and kindness.
I really was overwhelmed by the support and it did help tremendously in those first few hours, not just for me, but my 2 sisters too who aren't even footy fans!

Same as the OP. That thread the other day really affected me. GCB's relationship with his dad and football is very much like me and my dad. We hugged on the pitch today at the beamback, tears in both of our eyes, and I spared a thought for all the Blades who've passed on that would have absolutely loved it today, people like your dad, GCB. I hope you had a good day my friend, god bless.

Thoroughly enjoyed it thanks mate.
The lack of milky coffee was more than made up for by the fact we could sup booze in our seats instead today!!
Took a while for me to convince myself that singing to a television screen didn't make me look stoopid though  ;)
