I've been a Blade since 1991 (was too young to appreciate 1990) and since then I've witnessed 1 promotion out of a possible 22 seasons when we could have been promoted!!...And even the 2006 promotion was a little bit tainted due to Warnock's antics.

And now we sit top of the league with 8 games to go - 2 more wins will probably be enough to seal promotion, and then we just need to keep our point average within 1 point of Bolton's average from now to the end of the season to win the league.

Whilst the nerves are normal (I was shitting it today during the last 5 mins watching the BBC live text from afar), its really time to start enjoying every minute of the final 8 games, as this clearly doesn't happen too often for us! So Blades, soak it up, drink it in and enjoy the run in!

Well said. They have been so good to watch that you don't really want it to end. Another great little patch in the 2nd half when Charlton couldn't get near it and the move leading up to Lafferty's goal was excellent again.

The crowd in that last 5 minutes were fantastic today. Really supportive when Charlton were chucking players forward and applying whatever pressure they could. It's been a fantastic season, we just need to close it off.

We should be confident, but not expectant.

It's been hard earned by those players and I think they will see the job through. They won't get any choice in the matter.

But let's not get too far ahead, just enjoy the football. By June we will have forgotten about it and be looking to overcome a whole new set of problems.

I half want the season to end because listening to the away games is is sending my blood pressure up to massive levels but at the same time it's so good to watch that I want it to carry on forever

Disagree Griz, we are always expectant but not confident. That said even by our standards failure this season would be the mother of all fuck ups.

Want to also say, that it's good at the moment and enjoying the quality of football we are playing.

But on the other hand, I'm also looking forward to seeing if Wilder can add four or five players and improve the football even more. IMHO, as we are we would manage to stay up in the champ. But the thought of Wilder adding more players excites me.

I think it's quite apparent that Wilder is a manager that players want to play for.

He's motivated players here where they have the best facilities and infrastructure, but he's also done it at smaller clubs like Northampton where players were dying for him even though they weren't getting paid on time! I think that also explains Wilder's little dig at Charlton (Robinson) not getting his team to put the effort in.

But I'm too nervous to enjoy it so instead I'll just sit in silence at every game and leave 5 minutes from the end...

No, no, no! I want it be over and we're promoted as soon as possible. Yes, the football in the main is great, but I am so nervous at games, sometimes it's hard to enjoy. I was sure Charlton were going to equalise, my heart was beating like a frigging drum, when the final whistle went I slumped in my seat with relief and then became very emotional, bloody wuss. It's the Blades way I suspect, to still think we're going to cock it up.
And all those people leaving with five minutes to go?? Do the players not deserve appreciation at the final whistle? I don't get it, whatever the reason.

Yet again I have to wonder at this. If not this season, which is the most comfortable we've been in my living memory, when do you enjoy supporting the Blades?

I know exactly what you mean! I took the current Mrs Trig (your other CT cricket ticket customer) to BDTBL yesterday for the first time and she'd never experienced my nerves, kicking every ball, twitching, giving players advice ("Kieran can't hear you") and just generally being a quivering wreck.

As we walked back to the car along Bramall Lane I said I really enjoyed it and she found that hilarious and said she wouldn't want to be there when I wasn't having fun :-)

'Current Mrs T' Not planning on getting rid of another one I hope :)
I never took so many headers as I did yesterday.

To be fair to me, I have loved this season. Even the first three games, I could see the difference in the way we are playing. It's just the last few games, with everyone saying we are already up, that I have got progressively more nervous. I don't know why, but I thought yesterday would be a banana skin, just like my daughter does about our Oldham game. I KNOW we are better than most teams, I KNOW we should win every game, but football isn't like that. If we win the next four games, I will thoroughly enjoy the rest of the season.
