It wasn't me, but had it been I would have been delighted to return it to it's deserved and rightful owner.I have a strange request but I will try it anyway. I have just been talking to Bob about the incredible scenes at Leicester on 5th May 1989 when he captained the Blades to promotion to the First Division.
It was the proudest day of his career, as it was the only time he thinks he captained the team and walking back to his car after the game a fan asked him for his shirt which Bob said he had promised to Mick Rooker, but without thinking he gave him his captain's armband instead.
Whilst being pleased to have rewarded a loyal fan, Bob has regretted giving away such a valuable souvenir ever since particularly as the day means so much to him and I am wondering if anyone knows where that armband might be today and who might still have it?
Any information gratefully received as it would be wonderful if between us we could maybe even find a way of getting it back to him - something that would really make him very, very happy.
Many thanks and I hope someone has some information for me.
Cheers.

It was Malc's pal Ian Ruddiforth who did them. We took them into Josephines later that evening, much to the amusement of most of the players who were in there. There was also a life size Paul Stancliffe. I think Mal Sissons had something to do with these....he was just behind us at Leicester.
Stan the man got injured in the home game against Port Vale and got subbed. He was ruled out for the rest of the season. Cant remember who was the captain for the Bournemouth and Blackburn gamesSorry, got another question for all you Blades.
Bob was made captain for the first time at Leicester on 5 May 1990. Stancliffe, the normal captain, missed the last 3 games of that season. Who captained the team v Bournemouth and Blackburn and why was Bob made captain for the last game only?
Any ideas and information welcomed?
Many thanks

For me Bob has never left the club he just went and lived somewhere else because work commitments meant the commute back was a bit tricky.I have now written 8 chapters about Bob Booker and his time at the Blades.
There is already quite a bit of information about him and how you felt about him in the 10 pages of this thread but I now just have to write about:
1990/91 and 1991/92 - Bob in the First Division and his leaving the club. Any stories and memories welcomed.
Bob and the fans - how you all took him to your heart and how Bob mixed in with you and the city at large.
Any specific stories really welcomed and you will all be credited in the book.
Over to you and thanks.

Ha ha I'll have to take your word on that.He does come back , but never comes back free of charge , like in the rallying call on the pitch , the season we got relegated .
The Bob Booker biography is finally finished after a year's researching and writing and it is off to the printers at the end of the week. Hope to have it available by mid to end of August!

Change of cover. Bob prefers this. Hope you all like it!
It will do sales up here no end of good if you can arrange for Brentford to be thrashed on August 5th. Can we get the great man on the pitch at half-time to plug the book - and tell us who he's supporting? The Bob Booker biography is finally finished after a year's researching and writing and it is off to the printers at the end of the week. The books are at the printers and your shop has ordered them. They should be on sale for the Barnsley game and Bob is coming up next Saturday too.View attachment 29083
Was booed by blades fans in some of his early appearances. Didn't look as good as Webster, but turned it around in spectacular fashion. This is just to let everybody know that I am currently writing a biography of Bob Booker. This will cover his life and times at all three clubs with which he was associated as a player, coach or assistant manager, Brentford, Brighton and Sheffield United. Bob is very supportive of this project and is assisting me in every way possible.
The book will be published around this time next year by Bennion Kearny who have already published a couple of my books on Brentford (see https://www.amazon.co.uk/Growing-Pai...ville+waterman if you are interested).
I am initially focusing upon his spell at Brentford but will soon be gathering details and interviewing former team mates and colleagues of his from his time at Sheffield United and I am well aware of just how popular he remains to this day. I have already spoken to Derek French and any other suggestions gratefully received.
I would be very interested and grateful to hear from any Sheffield United fans who would like to share their thoughts and reminiscences on Bob and what he has contributed to your club. I would really like to understand how and why you took him to your hearts and why he has remained so popular to this day.
Please leave your messages here or I can be contacted at [email protected]
Many thanks.
