This makes no sense. That must be Harcourt Road behind but it's not how I remember it at all. The houses look very different.
Thanks Tynemouth. No it's Hartley Brook Road
This is where the photo is: https://goo.gl/maps/m7q4bmXg4pF2Thanks Tynemouth.
My grand parents lived at the bottom of Sicey Avenue and there were a large parade of shops approaching Bellhouse Road.
You perhaps know the area but I am going back to the late 40's early 50's.
Hartley brook road if my memory serves me was a steep hill where the buses went up with a school on the rhs at the bottom.
Probably got it wrong as it is 67 years ago.
Am I that old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the information and it is the second option, I had forgotten it was Nethershire Lane but it was a long time ago. This is where the photo is: https://goo.gl/maps/m7q4bmXg4pF2
I think that you're thinking of this location: https://goo.gl/maps/5vzyBgrmVXx
Or it could be here? https://goo.gl/maps/wkHgwjforYP2
I remember the teletext headline that evening: Fuchs off.
Yes, I do, I just couldn't cover all of the map with my iPad - is there a particular district you would like to see?Do you have a link to a map that shows a wider area of Sheffield?
Had some of the happiest times of my life in here ( ask derfblade , he'll tell you). Could leave home and be at the bar in about a minute.
So few down Attercliffe and Brightside ,yet a load at Nether Edge ,no wonder they lost the war the thick bastards.

Where's that SEB?
Note the bias. Our ground bombed, nothing shown at the other place. They were biased against us even in 1948.Yes, I do, I just couldn't cover all of the map with my iPad - is there a particular district you would like to see?
It's taken from a book entitled "Sheffield at War" published by the Star and Telegraph in 1948
Where's that SEB?
Could be Newark St?Attercliffe. Police Station is on the right on that street.
Could be Newark St?
Are these from the new exhibition about Sheffield in the war GBS ? I really need to pay a visit.View attachment 23913 This is the farthest SW section of the map, sorry no Owler Bar or Stannage Edge, but they managed to get the hugely strategic areas of Dore and Whiteley Woods.........
