Do you think will be good enough to play in the Championship ?

Here is my list

Moore
Wright
O'Connell
Fleck
Sharp
Lavery
Riley
Carruthers

Coutts & Freeman possibly

How many new signings will we need to make ?

Coutts for certain
Riley ain't ours
O'Shea - if he wins a contract.
Hanson could, as well.
Lafferty has done it in both divisions above.
Freeman clearly could
Brayford
Duffy would but not for a full 90

4 or 5

Most of the starting 11 in my opinion but I am far from convinced of this supposed gulf in quality between the 2 divisions. I think the Championship is starting to believe it's own publicity.
If the Pigs under Jones and Gray could stay up then so could we, and for every Rotherham or Burton there is a Barnsley or a Preston who have taken it in their stride on fairly modest outgoings.
A couple of new strikers and CB and we'd be reyt.

well surprising though it may be , there's not many that played that haven't played at a higher level
I dont get all these threads about whether we could compete
individually they've all been there, and probably the reason we are top is the quality we possess

Riley isn't ours and we can't possibly say he's good enough.
It'd be an extreme exaggeration to say Lafferty has 'done it' in either of the 2 divisions above, he's been nothing more than a squad player for Burnley.

Fleck was ready for the championship the day we signed him.
O'Connell, Freeman and Coutts have improved over the season to the point where they'll be good enough too.
Moore, Wright and Sharp will be.
Basham as a squad player, same with Duffy, Lafferty and Hanson.
Lavery could be a surprise package and I think I'd sign O'Shea too if he doesn't want too much in wages.

So on reflection for me every player who started on saturday will be good enough in some capacity, look at the football they played at times.
But it's important we flush out deadwood like Scougall, McNulty, Done, Hussey, Wilson, Clarke and bring in championship quality. Then let this bunch fight it out with them to determine the best.
The quality we bring in will determine whether we are going to push for play offs, consolidate or aim to avoid relegation.

Massive exaggeration.

O'Connell played a few games for Brentford last season
Carruthers never played for Villa in the Prem.
Lafferty never played for Burnley in the Prem.
EEL never played for Wolves in the Prem.
Riley never played for Man U in the Prem.
Chapman never played for Boro full stop.

Duffy didn't for Scunthorpe but he did for Brum, albeit not much.
Basham has played in the Prem for Blackpool however.

either they played or they didnt, a few games is playing there

eel was an unused sub in a prem game

Fleck
Our Billy for another season
Coutts
Wright for another season
Moore

Like I've said before, anyone who thinks the current unaltered side would be top-half 2nd tier is fucking deluded.

Between the 3 of them they probably played a total of about 30 minutes. Altogether.
now whos being ridiculous
carruthers had 3 games
plus all 4 have much more championship experience

which is the point , but have experienced the prem too

but if you feel the need to denigrate our players
knock yourself out

no ones said that as I can see
I think we can compete to stay up as we are
but we will probably bring in 5 6 or 7 players and move out about the same
top 10 is doable and with the right dealing a sniff at the play offs perimeter

I don't want to denigrate our players but I see no point in blowing smoke up their arses for no reason.
3 games can mean 2 minutes as a time wasting sub...

look wasnt blowing smoke just stating that some have been in prem set ups , even got a kick in it
papers have that cornered with terms like prem starlet

I think that threads like this are counter-productive. Players who are not expected to make the move up to the Championship in these kind of threads can deduce that they might be out of a job with SUFC if we get promoted. Not exactly an incentive.

Equally, if they see on these threads that they could easily play in higher divisions, should we not get promoted (God forbid) they will possibly want to move on to a Championship team for "greater rewards".

This applies to both players and their greedy agents.

According to Soccerbase, not including added time, Carruthers has played 20 Premier League minutes for Villa and Lafferty has played 16 Premier League minutes for Burnley.

Unfortunately, I am not sure that Billy Sharp is now good enough for the League above - His strike rate is around 1 goal in 5 chances this year and whilst he will get nigh on 30 goals the quality of both defending and goalkeeping is far superior in the league above !
May be wrong but ............................................!

Depends on your expectations for next season:

4th from bottom - we might be able to get by with only 1 or 2 signings for the first team.
Mid table - 4 or 5 signings
Promotion - then 10 new first team players, only Fleck is good enough for a Championship promotion team in my opinion.

Exactly

Moore
O'Connell
Wright
Fleck
Carruthers
Coutts
Freeman
Lafferty
Sharp

Duffy whilst one of our best players, i'm not too sure. He's had a stab at it but ultimately ends up back in L1.

Agree with this. I guess the first season will be about consolidation. Its gonna be down to this guy as to how much he's prepared to spend
