Billy dropped!

I thought you said nobody needed a rest and we should play our strongest team?

We have a very capable squad. I doubt the likes of Sharp, Freeman and Duffy needed a rest because they are very fit and can certainly play 3 games in 7 days. Can we afford the risk, with Saturday in mind? Yes.

Interesting point about the strongest team. Billy is definitely our best striker, 20 goals, no doubts there. Freeman, loads of goals and assists. Bringing Done, O'Shea, Riley and Lavery in gives us undoubtedly lots of pace and energy. O'Shea and Done have lots of experience. Lavery some, Riley none

Back three and centre mid are the strongest we can have, although Carruthers sounds like he has more bite. But we've gone pacey and energetic by the looks of it. So whats weaker about the side?

I don't know anything about Bristol Rovers, so don't know if this is to counter them.

We'll see after the game, its certainly a surprising side and a lot of changes, but it looks an exciting line up

Perhaps most of all though this will have caught Bristol Rovers completely by surprise. With these changes we're a different proposition.

Absolutely. Remember they looked surprisingly decent at the Lane, and although we won, it wasn't the most comfortable victory - I'm not saying we should be quivering at playing the likes of BR but tonight's a potential banana skin and I wonder if CW doesn't want to get too formulaic

I think midfield with Riley and O'Shea alongside Coutts, Fleck (and to a lesser extent) Lafferty, is very good. But I'm a bit concerned about up front. I think Lavery is a good shout but Done? Couldn't score in a brothel that bloke!

It's his chance, maybe his last chance? To find a place in this team. I hope he can do it.

O'Shea starting should give us some clues as to what he is like, he looked very good (to me) when he came on at the weekend.

Hanson - hope this is just a precaution.

He's a clever lad our Chris.
If we lose tonight, that is less important than losing on Saturday as that would be giving Scunny points too. Having Sharpe on the bench tonight means that he is still available to come and turn things round if things don't go our way. The lad does need a rest.

If Hanson is carrying a slight injury, it is better we let him recover in time for the Scunthorpe game.

CW and AK have coached and recruited well such that we should have quality replacements in most positions. The incoming players will surely try to be at their best to get a chance to establish themselves and remain in the team.

If we are surprised by the team selection, it must mean that it will upset Bristol's pre-match plans on how to deal with us.

I am quietly confident (but as nervous as every one else).

Don't get the lose tonight is less important than losing to Scunthorpe on Saturday.
What happens if Scunthorpe win tonight and we lose haven't given Scunthorpe points then ?
One game at a time for me.

Maybe the lads dropped tonight are on a promise??
It is Valentine's day after all, football doesn't come close to spending time in the sack with your loved one.
I'm off to the boozer whilst our lass is washing the pots.
;)

Interesting changes and very brave move. The next 90 minutes will tell if its a good idea or not.

I suppose if you look at it Billy hasn't had a rest, Freeman has played pretty much every game and Duffy was quiet a the weekend by all accounts.

Plus we have some game changes on the bench now too.

Quiet looking forward to riley getting a game, hopefully this means they have been pushing hard in training

Losing tonight will be small fry if we beat Bolton and Scunny. Could be a master-stroke this. Lose - It's not the end of the world, and we have fresh, regular first teamers to come back in for Saturday. Win or draw - Happy days!

If we don't lose it will do wonders for squad spirit then we'll run Scunny ragged with our first choice team.

No reason to expect a defeat.

We have 6 players in the team who played on Saturday, they have 8 (and 2 of their changes are forced). We are fresher.

We are better than them on paper.

Wright's playing.

Our line up looks fine defensively and we have a great bench.

We'll be fully switched on and at it because it's a hard game.

Bradford were better than them on Saturday and they don't have Taylor anymore.

Done is subbed now. That's the last game of his career now with us

Please resurrect that "Value of Done" thread that one of you fools posted a few weeks ago!

Let's see who you are? Those that wanted Done to be one of our main strikers?

remember him, Belgian winger, cousin of Kirk De Ball and Skaw De Gole

Even their pets Cat de Cat and Dog de Dog were better than Len de Goey.

Christ on a bike, but that useless twat was suggested as a the 'new Woody '.

Wasn't that several months ago? I'm sure the contributors to that thread don't need that sort of thing resurrected.

Besides, a more recent thread was one this month suggesting we needed to change the formation that has taken us to the top of the division, and which has continued to keep us there...

Okay, I'll hold my hand up....
